I offer support to teens, adults and parents who maybe struggling with issues. Whatever the problem it helps to talk and express oneself. Most people feel the benefit of sharing their concerns and learning to gain strength and trying out new coping strategies or finding other supportive measures to assist personal growth. Therapy can be a positive workout for the mind - just like the gym is for our bodies. I look forward to meeting you.

I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor specializing in trauma, anxiety and couples- counselling.
Nurturing a healthier, kinder relationship with all of your parts can be challenging, particularly if you have experienced trauma within your relationships. When we have experiences that mimic and reinforce the old thoughts, feelings and assumptions that we have always had about ourselves and/or others we can feel stuck, uncertain, scared or angry. We want to get out of these loops and free ourselves from the limiting beliefs and patterns that have misdirected us. Contrary to how it may feel at times, these are realistic goals!

I help you find inner Happiness, add color to your life and experience fulfillment instead of staying stuck in anxiety, depression, fear and blaming yourself so that you can live Heart-Centered, love Who You Are, reignite your potential and rebond your relationships.
I know there are times when it feels as if you are sitting in a dark space, waiting for a glimpse of joy. You may be seeking it in your job, income, relationships, or a variety of other external sources; and yet, it seems unreachable. Growing up with several traumas and experiencing severe depression led me to seek my identity in a high profile title in society. As a lawyer with a Master’s degree, I was not happy. Then I faced the tragic loss of my beloved friend. This pain, shook my belief system: How could I live, despite life's difficulties? Life showed me that painful experiences will always open doors to new paths.

Are your usual ways of dealing with things no longer working? Is it time to look at something that has been troubling you for a while? Perhaps you could use some help looking into your life to develop a deeper understanding of your journey. Carl Jung said, “Only what is really oneself has the power to heal.” Your challenges will be seen 'guideposts' that help us understand your life in a meaningful way. As a registered psychotherapist, my orientation is based in depth psychology and I am dedicated to helping you fully see yourself with compassionate eyes so that symptom and suffering can be transformed into wholeness and healing.

When should I seek treatment for anxiety?
Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.

What are the most common types of treatment for anxiety?
Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioural therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioural Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.

How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?
The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.

How effective is treatment for anxiety?
Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
