I draw from a range approaches depending upon your needs and preferences. Among them are cognitive behavioral therapy, interpersonal neurobiological ideas, family systems therapy, and attachment theory. It is common for clients to arrive with issues identified only to discover that there are other deeper and more fundamental issues which underlie them. I work at a pace compatible with your ability to integrate change. I am gentle and encouraging, but firm and forthright. I provide a free initial consultation so you can determine whether you feel comfortable with me. My aim is for you to feel welcome, safe and comfortably challenged.

You’ve read the books, tried the advice, done the work; but something still feels stuck. You’ve tried to figure it out, maybe even pushed it aside; yet it still keeps you up at night, perhaps impacting the way you live and connect with people you care about.
Maybe you’re good at solving problems and keeping things together, but this feels different, heavier, harder to name. Maybe it’s something you don’t really want to (or can) talk about with anyone, even with the people closest to you. Sometimes it's hard for others to understand us. That secrecy can start to weigh on you, leaving you feeling alone in your own life.

You can explain exactly why you get anxious, why you pull away in relationships, why you doubt yourself despite your accomplishments. But understanding hasn't changed the pattern. The same reactions still show up. Maybe you've done therapy before. It gave you insight, but not transformation. You're done analyzing. You're ready to work with what's creating these responses: the insecurity, attachment wounds, and patterns in your nervous system. You're looking for a therapist who will guide meaningful inner work that rewires the beliefs, emotional wounds, and stuck patterns underneath. You want real change, not just validation.

I specialize in helping people with addiction issues. I've developed an addiction recovery program that is now being used across the country by Indigenous communities, addiction treatment centers, detox centers and support recovery houses. While quitting an addiction is key to overcoming an addiction, what is essential for long-term recovery is dismantling the structure that allowed addiction to flourish in the first place. Additionally, my program also focuses on becoming a healthy person emotionally, psychological and ultimately spiritually by helping find purpose and meaning again.

When should someone seek treatment for sex addiction?
People should seek treatment for sex addiction if they cannot control their sexual thoughts or behaviours to the point that it disrupts their ability to function in daily life, for example by threatening their finances, career, or relationships. This may include spending an excessive amount of time obsessing over sex, planning sex, watching pornography, or masturbating, as well as consistently engaging in risky sexual activities, using sex to escape distressing feelings, or attempting yet failing to control sexual behaviour.
What are the most common treatment options for sex addiction?
Psychotherapy is the most common treatment for sex addiction; therapy helps patients better understand their compulsive thoughts and behaviours and develop strategies to manage their desires. Therapy may be supplemented by medications, such as antidepressants, mood stabilizers, anti-androgens, alcohol and substance use medications, as well as support groups, such as 12-step programs.
How long does therapy take for sex addiction?
Recovering from compulsive behaviour takes time and effort. There’s no precise timeline for treatment, but research suggests 12 therapy sessions may be enough to see change. Treatment for sexual compulsions requires honesty in therapy, a commitment to understanding triggers and developing coping skills, and potential lifestyle changes such as cutting out alcohol or drugs.
What if sex addiction is left untreated?
Compulsive sexual behaviour can have serious repercussions if left unaddressed. For example, if sexual obsessions consume the vast majority of a person’s time, they may lose their job. If they can’t stop paying for sex, their finances may suffer. If they’re dishonest in their relationships, their partner may leave them. If they consistently feel shame, they may struggle with anxiety, depression, or loneliness. Therapy can help people develop the tools to manage sexual thoughts and behaviours that feel uncontrollable.
