You're the one who always puts on a cheerful front, but the truth is, you're exhausted. You may find it difficult to feel connected or confident in your relationships and day-to-day life. You struggle to set boundaries, tend to overthink and people-please, and often feel like you’ve lost touch with who you really are. Deep down, you want so badly to feel at ease in your relationships and in your own skin. You want to stop walking on eggshells, to express your needs without guilt or second-guessing, and to feel like you’re finally allowed to take up space and be your authentic self.

Online appointments available. My clients are introverts and highly sensitive souls that feel overwhelmed because the world is too fast, too noisy, too chaotic but worst of all filled with people lacking compassion. They usually struggle with non-reciprocal relationships and setting boundaries. They may have experienced narcissistic abuse or childhood trauma/neglect (I have professional/personal exp. with both). They are filled with feelings of anxiety/worry about the fact that they can't keep up with everyone else. If you are reading this, I commend you on taking this first step. I am a proud member of the LGBTQIA+ family.

With over 15 years experience supporting children, youth, and adults with developmental disabilities and neurodiverse needs, my work as an art therapist is grounded in deep respect for each individual's unique voice and capacity for growth. My practice is person-centered, trauma-informed, and inclusive, rooted in the belief that everyone has the capacity for growth, healing, and self-expression. Art has been a powerful tool for myself when I have found it difficult to express complicated feelings with words alone.

Sessions begin with check-ins, end with reflections, and include exercises to nurture confidence, self-esteem, and somatic awareness throughout.
For people who’ve tried therapy before and feel stuck in their heads, I specialize in rebuilding nervous-system safety and trust. My own recovery from complex and intergenerational trauma is the backbone of why I do this work—I wanted others to have a different experience of safety and connection than I did. I work with people navigating Complex PTSD (CPTSD), trauma, and identity or cultural fragmentation who feel disconnected from themselves, their bodies, or relationships. My approach is trauma-informed, somatic, and relational, integrating EMDR, Somatic Experiencing, parts work, and narrative therapy.

I will help you access your body based intuition so that you can find answers that are right for you. Your inner somatic wisdom holds the answer to what you need to feel good. While our minds are busy trying to figure things out, our body's somatic felt sense has a sense of what resonates. For over 20 years I have helped people heal from personal, intergenerational, and collective trauma, depression, and more using focusing therapy, art therapy, EMDR and more. Psychedelic somatic interactional psychotherapy uses cannabis or low dose ketamine to help your nervous system release stored trauma.

When should a person seek therapy for low self-esteem?
When self-esteem problems begin to disrupt the healthy daily functioning of an individual, it may be a good time to look into therapy. If a person finds that they are not engaging with friends for fear of being judged, not completing work assignments because they don’t think they’re capable, or not finding romantic love because they don’t feel they’re worthy of it, a therapist may be able to help.
What are the signs of low self-esteem?
Low self-esteem is a common issue that can affect a person's mental and emotional well-being. Some common signs of low self-esteem include negative self-talk, perfectionism, social anxiety, difficulty making decisions, an inability to set boundaries, people-pleasing, and others. A lack of belief in oneself or one’s abilities and a feeling of not being worthy or deserving underlie most of these characteristics.
What causes low self-esteem?
Feelings of low self-worth can begin in childhood or adulthood. Being raised by a highly critical parent or growing up feeling constant disapproval can stay with a person well into adulthood. Specific issues in adulthood may also be a cause of low self-esteem. An unhappy relationship, a dysfunctional work or school experience can impact a person’s feelings of self-worth.
How can therapy improve self-esteem?
Therapists can help identify negative thought patterns that keep the client stuck in a loop of destructive self-talk and develop coping skills to change the voice in their head. A therapist can help with goal-setting, so that clients are better able to stay on task and build confidence from successfully completing work they’re proud of. Coaching a client on how to better communicate can improve relationships. These skills can result in someone with low self-esteem feeling empowered and living with less fear.
