Many of the people I work with feel like they’ve been managing a lot internally while trying to function day to day, often feeling misunderstood or unsure how to make lasting change. I also work with individuals navigating emotional intensity, difficulty with regulation, self-destructive patterns, and relational challenges, including those who identify with traits of borderline personality disorder. In addition, I support clients living with multiple or co-occurring mental health concerns, including anxiety, ADHD, substance use, and mood-related difficulties.

What if therapy didn’t just help you manage symptoms, but helped you genuinely understand yourself, the why behind your reactions, patterns, and pain? My work is about transformation at that level. You will gain insight that shifts how you think, practical tools that change how you respond, and emotional awareness that reshapes how you relate to yourself and others. The result is real, sustainable growth that continues long after therapy ends. As a long-time Therapist, Registered Counselling Supervisor, and owner of Ginger Henderson Counselling Services, I bring decades of clinical experience to every session.

In over thirty years working as a psychologist, I have become convinced that the most effective way to help others is through a collaborative approach. When the client and therapist work together to find solutions, the emphasis is placed on the client’s individual perspective and the strengths and successes they have already achieved. At the core of therapy, I believe, is a non-judgemental and compassionate view of how everyone’s personal journey involves overcoming suffering and moving towards self-acceptance, empowerment and emotional well- being. I also provide Supervision for therapists.

I am humbled to work with adults experiencing trauma/PTSD, LGBTQ+ related challenges, shame, depression, anxiety, OCD, specific phobias, relationship challenges, and sexual health challenges, including compulsive sexual behaviours, sexual trauma, and erectile/ejaculation difficulties. I also specialize in working with First Responders. Regardless of what led you here, many of my clients seek counselling as a result of being fed up with the way things are. Together we will work to uncover why you feel the way you do, develop tangible skills and strategies, and spend time expressing them in ways that will work for you long term.

I have specific expertise and interest in supporting individuals who come with more complex mental health and/or substance use concerns, including the following: Complex trauma, dissociative disorders, psychosis-related disorders, bipolar disorder, and others.
I warmly welcome all clients ages 19 years and older who are hoping to connect with a counsellor who can push you out of your comfort zone. Research tells us that the most effective counsellor is the one you have the best rapport with; I work best with clients who like setting goals - no matter how big or small - and want to be challenged to grow (gently and with the utmost care, of course). I offer a structured approach with a clear treatment plan that we collaborate on together and treat as a living document as your needs grow and change throughout the course of therapy.

Are you tired of feeling like every challenge is a mountain you can’t climb? Is the burden you carry too heavy to bear alone? When life feels like you’re wandering through mists that cloud your path forward, you need someone to shine a light & guide you, someone who can help you find your inner strength & courage. As a trauma therapist, I help people heal from adverse life experiences & navigate a path forward. Trauma isn't always a single event. Even when the mind has moved on, the body remembers. The body may stay on high alert, & present as emotional dysregulation, feeling unsafe in relationships, & having low self worth.

Hello! I’m Max, I’m a counsellor with a generalist focus who works from an existential lens. Your mental health is important to me, and I want for us to work together to help you experience relief from what’s bothering you and clarity about your life. The way I work is by first teaching coping strategies to help you regulate in the present, then to explore the deeper emotional and existential basis for what brings you to counselling in the first place.

Welcome. I'm a mental health therapist offering a unique, holistic path to well-being. My practice is deeply rooted in my own healing journey, my professional background as a social worker, and the transformative principles of Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapy. I believe in an individualized, caring and respectful approach when working with clients to become more resilient and effective in their lives. Many people believe that the skills and motivation needed to maneuver all of life’s obstacles are automatically within all of us. But many of us learn ineffective ways of communicating, develop unhealthy patterns or find ourselves stuck with no idea of how to move forward. Having a dedicated time to examine patterns, build skills and develop a deeper understanding of ones’ strengths can help build a greater sense of wellness and clarity in our lives.

What’s the most effective treatment for psychosis?
The most effective treatment for psychosis is coordinated specialty care. In this model, a team of professionals works with a patient to address all aspects of the underlying disorder. This approach incorporates individual or group therapy, employment and education support, family support and education, medication management (which often involves low doses of antipsychotics), and case management to facilitate problem-solving as needed.

When should people seek treatment for psychosis?
People should seek immediate treatment at the earliest indication of psychosis. Symptoms include delusions, hallucinations, disorganized or blocked speech, and agitated body movements. Early signs that a person may be developing a disorder that will lead to psychosis include suspiciousness of others, memory problems and distractibility, an inability to think clearly, rapid or nonsensical speech, withdrawal from friends or family, aggression toward others, and sensitivity to bright lights or noises.

What if psychosis is left untreated?
Without treatment, psychosis can have significant repercussions, including injuries, job loss, homelessness, financial or legal trouble, ruptured relationships, and suffering for the person and their family. While early treatment for psychosis often yields the best results, there is no point past which it becomes useless to seek treatment. At any point, treatment can make a difference.

How do I get someone else to seek treatment for psychosis?
It’s extremely difficult to watch a loved one suffer from hallucinations, delusions, and other elements of psychosis—sometimes exacerbated by their fears of treatment. Have a conversation with them in a quiet space and maintain a calm, supportive tone. Share your concerns about behaviors you’ve observed, suggest treatment, and explain the potential benefits. Listen carefully to their responses. The person may not be ready after one conversation, but with time, they may come around.
