We all long for and deserve to be seen and known. I offer curious and compassionate witnessing––walking alongside clients as they learn to see themselves in a new light, ask new questions and find meaningful answers. Clients often initiate therapy in the midst of change. They may be grappling with questions of personal identity, family history or unhelpful patterns of behaviour. I most often work with attachment injuries, avoidance in relationships, depression, isolation, overwhelming emotions, identity curiosities, challenges in relationships, prenatal/postpartum/parenting struggles, creative blocks and/or childhood trauma.

I have a special interest and training in supporting individuals facing challenges such as personality disorders, suicidal ideation, self-harming behaviors, psychiatric diagnoses like schizophrenia, and substance use issues.
I warmly welcome all clients ages 19 years and older who are hoping to connect with a counsellor who can push you out of your comfort zone. Research tells us that the most effective counsellor is the one you have the best rapport with; I work best with clients who like setting goals - no matter how big or small - and want to be challenged to grow (gently and with the utmost care, of course). I offer a structured approach with a clear treatment plan that we collaborate on together and treat as a living document as your needs grow and change throughout the course of therapy.

My clients are introspective, serious, and determined. They're looking for change and they appreciate my wide experience, my understanding of their lives, and my open ignorance of their situations. I get into your shoes. We make quick progress and lasting changes because we take things from scratch. I'm most interested in what I understand the least, which are the roots of emotion, reason, body, and spirit. I don't know what's good for you; somewhere inside you, you do. Wherever you go, I follow, even when it's crazy, and that's where we want to go. You're always the expert. You deserve to prevail. (Note: my rates are in US$)

Life can throw challenges our way that feel overwhelming and unmanageable. Coming to a realization that we could use help, and seeking a therapist are big steps. The therapeutic relationship offers a unique space to look at and discuss deeply personal content in a safe, non-judgmental environment. It can feel like a big risk to open up about our struggles. I encourage anyone seeking therapy to search for a therapist that they feel comfortable with. I believe it is my job to foster trust and safety so that we can work through difficult feelings. From my perspective, there is no definitive ranking of problems.

I love my work! For over 20 years I've been helping individuals and couples create a life they love with proven, measurable, effective and fast methods to break through old patterns, get past limiting beliefs, and create possibilities they never knew existed. This isn't therapy like you've seen it on TV or in the movies, it doesn't have to take years. If you're tired of the "same old, same old" you deserve to feel better.

Opening up can feel frightening, especially if you’ve tried therapy before and still feel stuck. You may carry trauma, anxiety, or overwhelm in ways talk therapy alone can’t reach. Some pain lives deeper in the body and nervous system, shaped by early experiences and unmet needs. With gentle curiosity, we’ll uncover the protective patterns that once kept you safe and help you return to a more connected, authentic version of yourself. If you’re seeking a trauma therapist who works in a depth-oriented, relational, and embodied way—someone who honours your pace and supports nervous system healing, I'd love to connect!

Personality Disorders Counsellors
What are the common treatment options for personality disorders?
Personality disorders are typically treated with psychotherapy, sometimes in conjunction with medication. Therapy can help people with personality disorders develop skills to tolerate difficult emotions, navigate interpersonal relationships, and solidify their sense of self. Medications can treat symptoms that co-occur with the disorder, such as depression, anger, aggression, and impulsivity.

When to seek treatment for personality disorders?
Even though treatment for personality disorders can be an uphill battle, it’s best to seek help if you suspect that you or a loved one is struggling with one, because personality disorders can create substantial problems in life. Symptoms depend on the specific disorder, but overall signs of personality disorders include consistent difficulty maintaining close relationships, dramatic variations in self-esteem, and an unstable sense of identity.

How long does therapy take for personality disorders?
The timeline for treating personality disorders isn’t as clear-cut as it is for other disorders. Change can be difficult, taking from around one year to five, 10, or more. The key is finding a therapist who has extensive experience treating the relevant disorder. For example, a psychologist who specialises in narcissistic personality disorder has specific communication strategies that allow them to sustain the relationship and be more effective with narcissistic patients.

Can therapy help people with personality disorders?
Research suggests that for those who are motivated to address concerns or interpersonal conflict related to a personality disorder, therapy is far more effective than no treatment, and that most people in therapy see improvements. However, since personality disorders involve entrenched elements of identity, they are less responsive to treatment than are other mental health conditions. Finding an expert who has extensive experience working with a given personality disorder is one factor that increases the likelihood of successful treatment.
