I specialize in coping skills for stress, emotion overwhelm, trauma, PTSD, anger management, life transitions, self-esteem, spirituality, relationship and men's issues.
On the outside, things might look fine. You get through the day, get things done. But inside? It’s a different story. Maybe you’ve noticed you’ve been reacting more strongly lately, getting upset over things that wouldn’t normally bother you. Or pulling away without meaning to, feeling distant even when you’re with the people you care about. You might not always be sure what you’re feeling, only that it can feel heavy or overwhelming at times, leaving you frustrated, disconnected, or shut down. You’re not alone in this. A lot of people were never shown the tools to handle what’s going on beneath the surface.

I've run groups on Anger, Parenting, Relationships, Communication, and Men's Issues, and have undergone extensive training in somatic trauma work.
Life is beautiful. But it's also challenging, unpredictable and constantly shifting. However strong and flexible they are, everyone encounters periods of crisis when their usual coping strategies prove inadequate. Interestingly, the Chinese character for 'crisis' comprises words meaning 'danger' and 'opportunity'. Anguish serves a purpose: it catalyzes change. And though change is frequently difficult, frightening and painful, it's also necessary for growth. A crisis announces a new beginning: an opportunity to pursue a more authentic, rewarding and meaningful life. As a counsellor, I help people negotiate the dangers of a crisis, and seize the unrecognized opportunities they conceal.

Specialties include: depression and anxiety; trauma/history of abuse; problems in relationships (intimate, family, and work-related); men's issues/building healthy masculinity; history of psychosis, mental illness or disordered eating.
At the heart of this therapeutic practice is the idea that problems lie between you and others as opposed to within you. How do you relate to your loved ones, strangers, and the world at large? Questions such as these will help you understand not only what you could change in your life, but also how to change it. The cultivation of truth occurs through building lasting trust: This is the core of working effectively towards solutions and change together. A heart of non-judgment, encouragement, empowerment, and tools are provided so that you can work through trauma from the past as well as practice new ways of living in the world.

Everyone struggles with something. We can’t control every internal or external experience we have, but we can find ways to create balance and choice in how we live our lives, particularly during times of stress, uncertainty, and overwhelm. In our sessions, you can expect to develop skills that can help you tune in to yourself with curiosity and compassion, while keeping “who you are” at the centre of the process. Regardless of what we focus on, please know that you can show up to our sessions just as you are. You’ll find an environment where every part of you is seen, heard, and welcome.

Working with me is a process of honestly confronting our internal world in a non-judgemental way. Together we can work towards authenticity and a genuine relationship with ourselves and others. Counselling entails finding ways to manage our experiences while changing the underlying issues that perpetuate them. Sometimes, growth means overcoming obstacles through practical work, and sometimes it making sense of our challenges within the broader unfolding of our lives. For affordable counselling options, I supervise Master-level counselling interns through yourpathcounselling.ca

You may be feeling anxious, overwhelmed, disconnected, or stuck in patterns that no longer feel helpful. Maybe you’re moving through a life transition, facing relationship challenges, or sensing that something’s missing—even if things look ok on the outside. You want more clarity, steadiness, and a deeper connection to yourself and others. You may not know exactly what needs to change, only that you’re ready to feel more like yourself again. Therapy offers a space to explore, understand, and move forward with greater confidence and self-trust.

We all know that we are conditioned by experiences, burdened by too much programming and sometimes, a bit lost or out of rapport with our very selves. As a result, we can feel stuck, overwhelmed, anxious, depressed or just numb. I am a Registered Clinic Counselor with over 25 years in the counselling field. In my work, I see myself as a respectful collaborator in your search to make sense of what is happening, or in making new sense of what has happened. Though somewhat eclectic in my approach, I rely heavily on Narrative Therapy. As such, I tend to be curious, ask questions and take notes.

The deepest desire of a human is to belong…to be heard…and to be accepted… Sometimes life presents us with difficulties that are tough to manage or resolve on our own. There are times when we need to ask for help in order to find ourselves and to move forward. As a person and a counsellor, I know that life’s challenges can happen at all stages of our lives at multiple levels and that every situation is unique to us alone. Circumstances that can challenge how we think, how we perceive, how we believe and how we respond.

I am a registered clinical counsellor with the BCACC. I specialize in counselling men in Victoria B.C. I work with you to find a leverage point from which you might release the pressure enough to gain perspective and move toward a better way of living. I am trained in Narrative Therapy, CBT, DBT, and Trauma therapy. It takes a lot of courage to begin counselling and I consider it a privilege to meet with clients when they recognize that it is time to talk about the struggles that they are experiencing.

You don’t have to do this alone. You’ve been the strong one—calm in crisis, the go-to for others—but lately, staying grounded feels harder. Maybe it’s burnout, grief, trauma, anxiety, or a loss of purpose. You might be a caregiver, a frontline worker, or navigating multiple cultures while trying to hold it together. You’re not looking for quick fixes—you want clarity, depth, and real change. What my clients want is relief—but not just from symptoms. To stop second-guessing themselves. To be able to show up authentically. I offer a grounded, integrative approach to help you reconnect with yourself and move from survival to alignment.

Men's Issues Counsellors

Is therapy for men different than it is for women?

Therapeutic treatments and types are the same for men as they are for women, with the same protocols followed and the same strategies employed. Discussing one’s feelings and emotions is an integral part of most therapies, and some men find doing so more challenging. Therapists can help clients through the process; some specialize in treating men for this reason.

How do you encourage a man to go to therapy?

It’s helpful to express your concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual’s behavior affected either himself or others should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.

How can men prepare for therapy?

Men can prepare for therapy by approaching the process with an open mind, being willing to talk about their challenges, and giving treatment the time to work. Before a session, an individual may want to reflect on how they’ve felt since the last session and what’s happened in their lives. It can be useful for men who struggle to recall their emotional states to write down notes between sessions about their response to a given event or how they were feeling at a particular time.

What should men know about the process of therapy?

One of the most common reasons men don’t seek therapy is the notion that there’s something wrong with them if they do. Men should know that just because they’re seeking therapy doesn’t mean they’re mentally ill or damaged in some way. In the same way people work on their bodies through exercise or a craft through practice, therapy can be a way to improve the mental and emotional skills needed to be productive and effective partners, employees, and people in all realms of life.
