I am a registered clinical counsellor with the BCACC. I specialize in counselling men in Victoria B.C. Anxiety and Depression can drag many people down and paralyze them under the weight of sadness and worry. I work with you to find a leverage point from which you might release the pressure enough to gain perspective and move toward a better way of living. I am trained in Narrative Therapy, CBT, DBT, and Trauma therapy. It takes a lot of courage to begin counselling and I consider it a privilege to meet with clients when they recognize that it is time to talk about the struggles that they are experiencing.

Hey, I'm Eric! A counsellor who primarily works with men and persons in trades who have grown used to carrying weight—responsibility, expectation, quiet pressure. Those who appear steady on the outside, but inside feel stuck, exhausted or disconnected. If this sounds true to you, you are not alone. Before becoming a counsellor, I spent 15 years in construction. I learned that even strong structural systems need maintenance and care. The same is true with our internal systems. Therapy is not about tearing things down, it is about rework. Tending to what’s strained, reinforcing what’s strong, and reshaping what no longer fits.

The deepest desire of a human is to belong…to be heard…and to be accepted… Sometimes life presents us with difficulties that are tough to manage or resolve on our own. There are times when we need to ask for help in order to find ourselves and to move forward. As a person and a counsellor, I know that life’s challenges can happen at all stages of our lives at multiple levels and that every situation is unique to us alone. Circumstances that can challenge how we think, how we perceive, how we believe and how we respond.

It’s tough trying to find the right counsellor, especially if your plate's already pretty full. Most people I work with are carrying stress, uncertainty, or an impression that things shouldn’t be this hard. You don’t need perfect words or a clear plan when we meet - just a sense that it’s time for things to go a bit differently. In sessions, you can expect to build skills to take care of yourself, your life, and others with greater clarity and compassion. Regardless of what we focus on, know that you'll be welcomed exactly as you are. You’ll find an environment where all parts of you can be seen, understood, and respected.

I work exclusively with men who are experiencing stress or anxiety related to their career, their relationships, or being a dad.
Have you been keeping it together for years, but now the cracks are starting to show? The pressure at work. The money worries. The feeling that you're supposed to have it all under control — and you don't.
I know the people closest to you can see it, even if nobody's saying anything yet.
So let’s talk and together we can find a way forward.

You keep up with your work and responsibilities, but inside it’s a constant balancing act. Maybe you lie awake replaying mistakes in your head, try to numb out, or feel mentally and emotionally drained no matter how much you push forward.

Many of the men I work with feel stuck.
They may be struggling with motivation, avoiding important areas of life, or falling into patterns like substance use, gaming, or other habits that are hard to break. On the surface, it can look like a lack of direction or discipline—but underneath, there’s often difficulty managing emotions, feelings of overwhelm, or a growing sense of frustration or discouragement.
I specialize in working with men—often in their 20s and 30s—who know they’re capable of more, but can’t seem to get moving.
I also work with parents who are concerned about their adult son, and want to know how to support them.

We all know that we are conditioned by experiences, burdened by too much programming and sometimes, a bit lost or out of rapport with our very selves. As a result, we can feel stuck, overwhelmed, anxious, depressed or just numb. I am a Registered Clinic Counselor with 30 years in the counselling field. In my work, I see myself as a respectful collaborator in your search to make sense of what is happening, or in making new sense of what has happened. Though somewhat eclectic in my approach, I rely heavily on Narrative Therapy. As such, I tend to be curious, ask questions and take notes.

Although I'm comfortable working with anyone regardless of age or gender, I specialize in areas of soul work, men's issues, addiction, career development, spirituality, embodiment, psychedelic integration and creative mentorship.
My method is not so much about solving our problems, it's about outgrowing them as we expand and deepen our perspective and personal narrative through soul-centered conversations and work with dreams and stories.

Is therapy for men different than it is for women?
Therapeutic treatments and types are the same for men as they are for women, with the same protocols followed and the same strategies employed. Discussing one’s feelings and emotions is an integral part of most therapies, and some men find doing so more challenging. Therapists can help clients through the process; some specialize in treating men for this reason.
How do you encourage a man to go to therapy?
It’s helpful to express your concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual’s behavior affected either himself or others should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.
How can men prepare for therapy?
Men can prepare for therapy by approaching the process with an open mind, being willing to talk about their challenges, and giving treatment the time to work. Before a session, an individual may want to reflect on how they’ve felt since the last session and what’s happened in their lives. It can be useful for men who struggle to recall their emotional states to write down notes between sessions about their response to a given event or how they were feeling at a particular time.
What should men know about the process of therapy?
One of the most common reasons men don’t seek therapy is the notion that there’s something wrong with them if they do. Men should know that just because they’re seeking therapy doesn’t mean they’re mentally ill or damaged in some way. In the same way people work on their bodies through exercise or a craft through practice, therapy can be a way to improve the mental and emotional skills needed to be productive and effective partners, employees, and people in all realms of life.
