As a mixed-race Indigenous practitioner with white privilege, my counselling practice is grounded in a two-eyed seeing framework, holding both western modalities and Indigenous ways of knowing, doing and being close to my heart.
I show up in a supportive, non-judgemental, and committed way. I strive to meet people where they are at, and work alongside them in a good way while holding up their strength and dignity. We both have a lot to learn from each other, and I always want to honour where you come from, and where you have been.

My lifestyle may mirror those needing that empathy and compassion, having been a serving member of the Canadian Armed Forces for 20 years, being Indigenous, LGBTQ and a single parent and belonging to several other communities which face stigmatization because of the way we live.
I am informed in the use of CBT, DBT, Narrative and Internal Family systems, using any of these methods we would work together to build an awareness of the things causing you issues and work to reframe and shift the narrative. I work in grief and adjusting to changes in your lifestyle.

You may be feeling stuck in the effects of past experiences, caught in the same relationship conflicts, or struggling with anxiety that feels difficult to manage. Perhaps you're noticing patterns in your relationships that keep repeating, feeling disconnected from your partner, or finding that past experiences continue to impact your confidence, emotions, and daily life. Whatever brings you to therapy, you don't have to navigate it alone.

I have been spotted facilitating out in the wilds of the mountains, down by the powerful rivers, deep in board room discussions, post secondary classrooms and in the streets – Framing challenging experiences like Addictions, PTSD, Depression and Anxiety through Indigenous & Holistic worldview perspectives.
I support and guide you through your life’s experience and understanding of how to increase happiness and reduce suffering. Connecting ancient and modern wisdom, the process is rooted in awakening through relationships and naturally occurring growth, connection to all life, awareness of safety, trust, and your own inner wisdom by realizing answers to these 3 classic questions: Who am I? Where am I from? And Where am I going? We will explore these questions and answers through both simple and complex layers of your mental, emotional, physical and spiritual life that reinforce beliefs, choices, behaviors, feelings and experiences.

I offer virtual EMDR therapy to help you work through trauma, anxiety, and depression, along with ADHD-informed counselling for adults. If you feel stuck, overwhelmed, or caught in patterns that don’t make sense, we can work together to process what’s underneath and move forward. EMDR is a powerful, evidence-based approach that supports meaningful change without needing to relive everything in detail. I support clients with trauma, panic, PTSD, complex PTSD, grief, and relationship challenges in a way that feels steady, supportive, and focused on real progress.

My ideal child/youth/young adult clients are struggling with expressing their feelings, boundary setting, red-flag recognition, relationships (friends, family, peers), self-esteem, and wanting to feel empowered and make positive changes in their life. Starting to support positive self-esteem and confidence at a young age will support positive choices. My ideal parenting clients are parents, guardians, and caregivers looking to participate in self-care, psychoeducation, and receiving validation for themselves while they navigate parenthood. Parenthood is a challenge, and you need to feel validated just as much as your child(ren) do.

The Centre for Psychodynamic Insights is a virtual clinic specializing in psychodynamic psychotherapy. This approach explores the root causes of symptoms by uncovering and understanding underlying emotions through evidence-based treatment. Through collaborative dialogue, we examine unconscious thoughts and emotions shaped from childhood to the present. We work to relieve symptoms by understanding how these patterns affect current experiences, and create targeted strategies for meaningful change long-term.

My academic experience was heavily informed by Indigenous scholarship and traditional ways of knowing/doing/healing.
Welcome. I'm a mental health therapist offering a unique, holistic path to well-being. My practice is deeply rooted in my own healing journey, my professional background as a social worker, and the transformative principles of Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapy. In our work, I create a compassionate space for you to explore your inner world. Guided by IFS, we'll gently connect with your inner "parts"—even those in shadowy places or seeking comfortable shade. My role is to help you understand them, listen to their stories, and invite your inherent Self—your core of wisdom, compassion, and courage—to lead with clarity and peace.

What are the advantages of seeing an Indigenous therapist?
Mental health care is deeply personal, and for many Indigenous people in Canada—including those from the First Nations, Inuit, and Métis communities—working with a therapist who understands their cultural background can make a meaningful difference in therapy outcomes. An Indigenous therapist can offer a sense of connection and cultural safety that helps clients feel seen, respected, and understood. These therapists are often well-equipped to support individuals coping with the long-term effects of intergenerational trauma or the loss of cultural identity. They can also help clients navigate everyday mental health challenges, such as anxiety, depression, or grief. Some may also incorporate traditional healing practices—like ceremony, storytelling, or working with Elders—alongside talk therapy. Because of their ties to the community, Indigenous therapists may also be familiar with additional resources, such as local peer support groups, that can further support a client’s mental health journey.

What do indigenous therapists specialise in?
Indigenous therapists can have a range of specialties. Some work primarily with youth or families, while others may focus on trauma recovery, addiction, or supporting LGBTQ+ individuals. Therapeutic approaches can vary as well and what sets many Indigenous therapists apart is how they often incorporate conventional approaches—like cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT)—with Indigenous ways of healing. This might include land-based practices, ceremony, storytelling, and relational work that honours the importance of community and the role of culture in well-being.

How to find an Indigenous therapist in Canada?
To find an Indigenous therapist in Canada, use the Psychology Today online directory to filter by provider identity. Look for professionals who describe experience with Indigenous communities, trauma-informed care, and respect for Indigenous worldviews. Many offer virtual sessions, which can be especially helpful in rural or remote areas. If an Indigenous therapist is not available in your region, you might consider working with a non-Indigenous provider who demonstrates knowledge of Indigenous practices and cultural respect. Many clients may also take a hybrid approach—combining therapy with guidance from traditional healers or community wellness workers, for example. It’s also important to ask about payment for therapy. Qualified individuals may be eligible for funding through Indigenous-specific programs such as Non-Insured Health Benefits (NIHB), which provides funding for mental health treatment for individuals registered with the First Nations or Inuit who are not otherwise covered through other modes of health insurance.
