The folks who connect tend to be experiencing challenges with ADHD (diagnosed or undiagnosed), de-motivation, chronic pain, trauma processing, unhealthy patterns/addictions, or are in difficult or stagnated relationships (personal, professional, or romantic).
The techniques used are rooted in somatic and emotion awareness, pattern recognition and reconditioning, and intentional action. We work closely with the nervous and lymph systems, with recommendations of seeking nutritional guidance to support gut-health (90% of serotonin is derived from gut).

ADHD, relationship issues, anxiety, depression and addictive behaviours are the focus of my practice.
The most frequent feedback I receive is that I have provided the 'aha' moment, which allows forward movement and upward growth in my client's lives. My clients also comment on how different it feels to have a counsellor who has actually been through what they are going through.

I specialize in counselling for men who experience anxiety, depression, anger, addictive behaviours, and ADHD.
Maybe you’re irritable, preoccupied, distracted; you over-react to seemingly small provocations. You find yourself yelling at your partner or your kids, and then feel guilty about it after. You look for ways to distract or numb your feelings (like drinking or using weed, video games or porn). But these end up causing more problems than they solve.

I specialize in ADHD (feel free to ask about my doctoral research on high-functioning adults with ADHD!) and believe that neurodivergence is simply an aspect of human variation and is not a disorder to feel ashamed of.
Hey! I'm Jenn, your approachable, welcoming, and nonjudgemental counsellor. I believe that the counselling space should be safe enough to allow for vulnerability, but also comfortable enough to share a laugh together! Clients who are the best fit for me are those who are motivated to be cycle breakers and have awareness about what they want differently for their lives. They likely have some flavour as neurodivergence (as I do too!), and don't see themselves as broken but perhaps under-resourced. They approach the counselling space honestly and can unmask and be real with themselves, even if it's for the first time ever.

I have lived experience with ADHD.
As an integrative counsellor, I use a variety of approaches depending upon the individual. These include Family Systems, Humanistic Counselling and Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy. Mindfulness is an evidence-based approach used for anxiety and depression. For ADHD, it can enhance focus and attention by bringing us into the here and now.

I specialize in working with girls and women, chronic pain & illness, ADHD, and the trauma and stress that tends to link these factors.
I work one-on-one with individuals including adults and youths in person, online and in nature. I integrate various therapy styles to suit the individual. I am an EMDR clinician, which allows me to help people desensitize and reprocess traumatic experiences - not to erase memories, but to take away the power they hold over you. My unique offerings include being specialized in chronic pain and illness, especially invisible disabilities (e.g., fibromyalgia), as I have over a decade of experience working with this population in physical rehabilitation. My continued education is on Nature-Based Therapies and pre-teen play and art.

When should I seek treatment for ADHD?

You should seek treatment for ADHD if you consistently have difficulty with attention, hyperactivity, or impulsivity that interferes with your daily life. Symptoms of ADHD include the inability to sustain attention during tasks, difficulty organizing tasks and activities, being easily distracted, frequent fidgeting or squirming, and talking or interrupting excessively. If these symptoms interfere with your career, academics, or relationships—for example, consistently failing to complete professional projects on time—you should seek an evaluation for ADHD.

How does treatment for ADHD work?

Effective treatment for ADHD often consists of medication, behavioral therapy, and lifestyle changes. Stimulant medications such as Adderall and Ritalin work by altering levels of neurotransmitters in the brain; higher levels of dopamine and norepinephrine are known to improve attention and focus. Therapy works by helping people with ADHD understand the condition, discuss their areas of difficulty, and develop behavioral strategies to manage their symptoms. In some cases, modifying one’s diet and exercise can also help improve symptoms.

Are there specific medications for ADHD?

Medications to treat ADHD are generally stimulants, the most common are Adderall and Ritalin. There are two categories of stimulants: Amphetamines include Adderall, Dyanavel, Vyvanse, and Dexedrine, and methylphenidates include Ritalin, Concerta, Daytrana, Focalin, Quillichew, Quillivant, and Metadate. Non-stimulants and antidepressants may be used as an alternative if stimulants aren’t effective or viable for a particular patient.

How long does treatment for ADHD take?

It’s tough to give an exact time frame because everyone varies. In terms of medications, stimulants begin to work very soon after you take them, generally within the hour. It may take time to identify the right medication and dosage, but the medication itself is fast-acting. In terms of therapy, it takes time to develop skills and put them into practice, but you will likely see improvements within a few weeks or months.
