I specialize in counselling for men who experience anxiety, depression, anger, addictive behaviours, and ADHD.
Maybe you’re irritable, preoccupied, distracted; you over-react to seemingly small provocations. You find yourself yelling at your partner or your kids, and then feel guilty about it after. You look for ways to distract or numb your feelings (like drinking or using weed, video games or porn). But these end up causing more problems than they solve.

I have expertise in treating individuals with ADHD, autism, addiction, low self-esteem, eating disorders, and chronic stress.
Despite your best efforts to change, you feel stuck in unhealthy patterns of behaviour that make it difficult to enjoy life. These patterns show up as addiction, chronic stress, difficulty with impulse control, self-harm, emotional dysregulation, or relationship conflict. They’re hard to break not because you lack willpower, but because they serve a purpose, offering temporary relief from pain, creating an illusion of control, or as an ingrained defence mechanism. Yet you long for a healthier, more compassionate relationship with yourself and others. I can help you to achieve this goal.

Many of my clients are highly sensitive, thoughtful, deep-feeling adults, who may also be navigating the complexities of being "neurospicy". You may be here because you've always felt "different", "too sensitive", or "broken"... I offer space to explore and celebrate all of your identities that show up, including sexuality, gender expression, and relationship preferences. Together, we will honour all that you carry, release what no longer serves you, and invite your inner desires and authentic self to emerge. Because you are NOT broken. You belong here, and you deserve pleasure.

If you’re doing your best to hold it all together while moving through grief, disability, or major life changes, you’re not alone. Many people I work with feel tired of having to explain themselves or fit into systems that don’t make space for them. I offer a place to exhale — where you don’t have to perform or hide parts of yourself. Together, we explore what matters to you and find ways to move through life with more clarity, self-trust, and compassion.

My ideal client is someone who is ready to begin exploring themselves, their emotions, and their relationships. I am grateful to join folks on a journey of self discovery and growth. Our bodies are constantly trying to communicate via emotions and so many of us were not provided with the skills to interpret those messages. This sometimes leads to emotional distress and challenges with how to respond to our emotions effectively. Through tools like DBT and IFS I find individuals can better understand themselves and how to live more in line with their values.

I have lived experience with ADHD.
As an integrative counsellor, I use a variety of approaches depending upon the individual. These include Family Systems, Humanistic Counselling and Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy. Mindfulness is an evidence-based approach used for anxiety and depression. For ADHD, it can enhance focus and attention by bringing us into the present moment.

ADHD, relationship issues, anxiety, depression and addictive behaviours are the focus of my practice.
Dramatic change in just one session. - - A vastly improved life experience in 10 sessions or less. My approach is solution-focussed and clients can expect improvement in their situation with each session. Most clients require only 1-5 weekly sessions. Many also choose ongoing monthly/bi-monthly sessions to maintain momentum. The most frequent feedback I receive is that I have provided the 'aha' moment, which allows forward movement and upward growth in my client's lives. My clients also comment on how different it feels to have a counsellor who has personally worked through the same issues they are experiencing.

When should I seek treatment for ADHD?
You should seek treatment for ADHD if you consistently have difficulty with attention, hyperactivity, or impulsivity that interferes with your daily life. Symptoms of ADHD include the inability to sustain attention during tasks, difficulty organizing tasks and activities, being easily distracted, frequent fidgeting or squirming, and talking or interrupting excessively. If these symptoms interfere with your career, academics, or relationships—for example, consistently failing to complete professional projects on time—you should seek an evaluation for ADHD.

How does treatment for ADHD work?
Effective treatment for ADHD often consists of medication, behavioral therapy, and lifestyle changes. Stimulant medications such as Adderall and Ritalin work by altering levels of neurotransmitters in the brain; higher levels of dopamine and norepinephrine are known to improve attention and focus. Therapy works by helping people with ADHD understand the condition, discuss their areas of difficulty, and develop behavioral strategies to manage their symptoms. In some cases, modifying one’s diet and exercise can also help improve symptoms.

Are there specific medications for ADHD?
Medications to treat ADHD are generally stimulants, the most common are Adderall and Ritalin. There are two categories of stimulants: Amphetamines include Adderall, Dyanavel, Vyvanse, and Dexedrine, and methylphenidates include Ritalin, Concerta, Daytrana, Focalin, Quillichew, Quillivant, and Metadate. Non-stimulants and antidepressants may be used as an alternative if stimulants aren’t effective or viable for a particular patient.

How long does treatment for ADHD take?
It’s tough to give an exact time frame because everyone varies. In terms of medications, stimulants begin to work very soon after you take them, generally within the hour. It may take time to identify the right medication and dosage, but the medication itself is fast-acting. In terms of therapy, it takes time to develop skills and put them into practice, but you will likely see improvements within a few weeks or months.
