I have a passion for working with individuals who are struggling to stay on top of their emotional responses. This can be due to so many factors from the state of our world, the result of high anxiety, an overactive stress response, trauma and post traumatic stress disorder, conflict in relationships, or burnout. We all experience times when our usual coping strategies are no longer enough and we are in distress. Our relationships suffer, our work suffers and our families suffer.

Are you ready to take the first step toward healing and growth? Life can be overwhelming especially when faced with anxiety, depression, addiction, trauma or life's many challenges. You are not alone I am here to offer you a safe compassionate space to begin your journey towards wellness. I believe true healing comes from treating both the mind and body as a whole. Our bodies often hold onto stress and trauma and this can manifest as mental or physical illness. By addressing not only your thoughts and emotions but also how these issues show up in your body, we can release the weight of past traumas and help you to move forward.

As a Certified Psychotherapist, Counsellor and Supervisor, I believe every person has a right to share their story. I provide a safe environment where people can process and gain the insights and awareness they are seeking. I deal with the root issue(s), not just the symptoms of the problems that are presented. Many have no where to turn and feel trapped in their issues, whether shame, fear, loneliness, anger, or hurt. These feelings are often deep-rooted and have not been recognized, acknowledged and shared with someone non-judgmental. As we share our life stories with someone objective we are able to find the healing we need.

I offer low-cost counselling for people who feel everything deeply, especially those with Borderline Personality Disorder or BPD traits. If you’ve ever been told you’re “too much” or “too sensitive” or told to “calm down,” you’re not alone. Some days you feel fine, then suddenly overwhelmed by small things like a text left unread or a comment. If this sounds familiar, you’re not broken, you deserve support that understands all of this.

After many years of working in healthcare and education in the U.K., the Netherlands and Canada, I realized that I wanted to help others more directly. I wanted to create a safe, understanding, caring, non-judgemental space for people to share their mental health journey with me. I have developed the skills and knowledge, through education at KCPC and through work with the Canadian Mental Health Association and as a BouncBack coach, to use an integrative approach to counselling to guide and support people to reach their mental health goals. This means that I will work with you to find the best way that works for you!

You're tired of just surviving and ready to design a life that feels worth living. Maybe trauma or substance use has kept you stuck in patterns that aren't serving you, or you're navigating cultural transitions while trying to figure out who you want to be. You might be dealing with anxiety, depression, anger or relationship issues, but you're not just looking to "cope better" - you want to create something meaningful. You're ready to dig deeper, understand the patterns, and build the life you actually deserve, not just the one you've settled for.

How long does OCD treatment take?

Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) is often treated on a weekly or twice-weekly schedule, depending on symptom severity and the client’s preferences. Some clients may start to see a noticeable improvement in symptoms in as little as six weeks, but it’s also possible, especially in more severe cases, for treatment to take several months to a year before significant progress is made.

What happens if OCD is not treated?

Some people with OCD, especially those with mild symptoms, may find that they are able to adapt reasonably well to life with the condition, even if their symptoms never resolve completely. However, many people, particularly those whose symptoms are severe at the outset, find that their obsessions and compulsions grow more intrusive with time, making it harder to maintain relationships, hold down a job, or navigate the world successfully.

Are there medications for OCD?

Medication can be used to treat OCD. The class of drugs most often prescribed are selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors, or SSRIs, which include fluvoxamine, fluoxetine, and sertraline, among others. In cases of treatment-resistant OCD, other classes of medication, such as tricyclic antidepressants or atypical antipsychotics, may be prescribed. Medication is frequently used in conjunction with therapy.

Can OCD come back after treatment?

Yes. Major life transitions, periods of stress, or other factors can cause symptoms to return or, if they were never fully eradicated, to ramp back up in intensity. For some, these relapses are brief and do not require additional treatment; identifying specific triggers and practicing the skills learned in therapy can help speed their course. For others, returning to therapy for a brief period can help address the underlying stress and strengthen coping mechanisms.
