I work with clients who want to find relief from their struggles with the following: depression, anxiety, anger, grief and loss, worthlessness, despair, disordered eating, life/work transitions, addiction (substances, pornography and gambling), and the negative impact of sexism, racism, homophobia, transphobia, and poverty. Often in the beginning, people come in feeling overwhelmed and frustrated and may be clearer initially of what isn't working for them or what they no longer want in their life. I believe these feelings are a resource to reveal what you do want in your life, what's important to you, your values, hopes, dreams and commitments.
Divorce is a challenging time for all family members. For children it can be especially difficult. My philosophical approach when addressing the challenges children face as well as their parents is Two Hearts One Home. If the divorce is high conflict overcoming challenges often require a team approach. The Family Co- Parenting Centre is an association of Independent professionals serving Vancouver, Richmond, Delta and Surrey.

Having ancestry from the Mi’kmaq people of Newfoundland and the English people of Bath, I use the teachings of the medicine wheel as a foundation for my personal and professional life. I believe that making art can be a practice that supports physical, mental, emotional and spiritual well-being. When we make art, we can experience our stories and our struggles in a new way. This can open the door for creating deeper connections with our bodies, with those around us and in our communities. My mission is to guide people in honouring their stories and reclaiming their connections in order to live more whole and meaningful lives.

If you are on this page now, there is a part of you that is leaning towards healing and living life more fully. Depression, anxiety, trauma and other emotional struggles take away from the joys of everyday life. It might be hard to find the motivation to get out of bed in the mornings. Where you used to enjoy activities with loved ones, you might feel numb , disconnected or overwhelmed with anxiety. You may even find yourself stuck in unhealthy relationships or engaging in behaviors that just don’t feel right. Sometimes, emotions such as anger or anxiety can go from 0 to 100 in a matter of seconds and you may feel "stuck".
My approach to counseling involves offering a safe, nonjudgmental environment for you to explore your thoughts, feelings and behaviours and take steps towards processing emotions, creating a more balanced life. As a counselor, I help people process trauma, grief and life. I believe that with some support, tools and guidance we can work collaboratively together to help you heal, process and grow.
I believe that you should do you. I also think that you should do the least anxious, least depressed, least traumatized and least isolated version of you that you can do. Reaching out for counselling can be really nerve-racking. It is also hard to admit that there is something in your life that might not be working quite right. My hopes are that you can make the changes that you want to make, and I'm hoping that I can support you to do it.

Perhaps you feel pulled in different directions, while feeling as though you are losing control over your life - at a loss to know where to start in order to break the negative cycles you find yourself trapped in. Amidst all this, relationships may suffer, not only with others, but also with yourself as you strive to find who you really are amongst all the chatter and chaos of your mind.

Sometimes it’s hard to notice when things aren't going well. It might be subtle signs that pop up at the end of the day. You feel like the day is going well and you’re keeping busy. But as soon as you have a moment of silence, your mind starts to cycle through things that you just don't want to think about. Do you find it hard to sit still and be at peace in these moments? Do you distract yourself as much as possible just so you don’t listen to your own thoughts? Maybe you have a hard time completing any of your important tasks? These are all normal reactions. Signals that your body is giving you to pay attention to.

We all want and deserve to be seen, heard and accepted for all of who we are. For many of us, barriers such as the fear of judgement, shame or comparison to others get in the way of feeling like our full selves. You may be feeling like something is missing or like something should be different. Overwhelming emotions, thoughts or feelings in your body may feel exhausting. A transition may have left you feeling lost or alone. Perhaps you feel uncomfortable in your own skin or unworthy of love. Whatever brings you, I honour your courage as you consider counselling as a meaningful opportunity to explore, grow or heal.
