At the heart of my practice is a belief that bringing light to what pains us, with openness, kindness and compassion, helps us connect to our natural healing capacity. As a counsellor, I bring my knowledge, experience and humanity to create a safe space for this healing to occur. I focus on working with adults impacted by trauma, relational abuse, life transitions, anxiety, depression, shame, issues of self-worth, identity and belonging. I will walk alongside you as you navigate your path to experiencing more wholeness, ease and aliveness in your relationship with yourself and with others.
Are you feeling lost, anxious, or confused? Not being able to cope with everyday life challenges. Or, dealing with an identity crisis and searching for meaning, your unique life purpose? Body, mind, spirit counselling can help to bring emotional balance, heal trauma, and self-defeating behavioural patterns so that you can truly show up the way you want to be in the world and have greater freedom of personal choices, a sense of deeper connection with self, other people, and nature.
I am a Registered Psychologist in BC currently providing autism assessment and psycho-educational assessment. I also assess attention difficulties (ADHD), learning disabilities (e.g. Dyslexia), and intellectual disability. Services are provided in English and Chinese (Cantonese and Mandarin).
Due to the current heath crisis, we are all adjusting to a new life and trying to find creative ways to cope with social distancing, self-isolating, and uncertainties. However, this situation is giving rise to complex situations and challenges we are not prepared for. People diagnosed with COVID-19 who are worried and feeling alone; front line workers who are exhausted and fearful; parents who are at home feeling like they aren't being their best selves to their children - every corner of our community is affected in some way.
Trauma and negative life experiences can have lasting effects on many aspects of life, including mood, relationships, employment, education, parenting, addictions, and overall wellness. Sometimes the ways that the past affects the present are unclear or unknown, and sometimes the past feels as if it's happening now. The path to healing is often through exploring and addressing these past hurts, which can be extremely intimidating and also rewarding.
My personal and my professional experiences guide me to educate, advocate for and support families and individuals who are experiencing challenges related to ADHD, anxiety, learning disabilities and conduct/behaviour related problems. I provide counselling, consultation and coaching to individuals, families and school staff. The doctor who has inspired my practice most significantly is Dr. Seuss. He wrote "If you judge a fish on how well it climbs a tree, it lives its life thinking its stupid".
As a Registered Clinical Counsellor with a Masters degree in Sport Psychology and completing a Masters Degree in Counselling Psychology, I am focused on establishing a trauma-informed practice, re-kindling the connection between body and mind, while rooting myself and our work in anti-oppressive principles. I work within an integrative approach, emphasizing the importance of emotions and how understanding our emotions can give us power to heal. Connection and inclusivity guide the work that we will do together. To feel included and empowered in the choices you make in your own care is pivotal.

We all live complex lives and are having to face an ever-changing environment. This can be immensely stressful. We all experience challenges in our lives but we do not always have the clarity or skills to effectively navigate our way through them. We then either get stuck or continue to go through life living on auto-pilot. To create a meaningful life, we need to reconnect with ourselves, the things we value and fine tune our skills to attain our goals. Working through challenges in our past or those in the present in a supportive, therapeutic environment can help us build a fuller and more meaningful life.

Change comes in many different forms, and is often difficult. Even positive transitions into exciting new chapters of one's life can be accompanied by feelings of grief, as we develop a new sense of self. Then, of course, there are the periods of our lives in which we must come to terms with a devastating break-up, or the loss of a loved one. Rest assured that your internal resources are stronger and more diverse than you might think. Together we can access these resources, and use them to help you navigate your adjustment.
Life can be challenging, and you deserve support. Yet, we as women feel guilty for prioritizing ourselves all too often. We are used to putting others’ needs and comfort before our own. Perhaps you notice being very critical of yourself. Maybe you’re struggling with your relationships, life changes or overwhelming emotions like anxiety, anger or shame. You might be asking yourself: “Who am I? Is this the life I want?” I want you to know that you don’t have to deal with it alone.
One of my clients described the process of therapy "like finally turning the lights on in a room that had been dark." It takes courage to seek counselling. It means acknowledging (to ourselves and another) that something in our lives is not as we'd like it to be, and committing to let ourselves see, feel, and start to heal those parts of our lives we are no longer willing to keep dark. The joy in my work comes from helping people 'turn the lights on,' and witnessing what happens when they do.

Others may also be coping with the impacts of trauma, grief, loss, and family conflict endured across the lifespan.

I believe that true belonging and healing comes from a place deep within ourselves. This journey varies for everyone but ultimately counselling gives us the navigation to find our way. It also provides us with the tools for support if or when we find ourselves lost and/or stuck.
