As a counsellor, I have the privilege of working with youth (ages 10+) and their caregivers, young adults and athletes of all backgrounds on their mental health journeys. Some individuals come to me seeking support for their previous mental health diagnoses, others may feel “stuck,” overwhelmed or disconnected and are looking for a path forward. Through compassion and collaboration, I help individuals gain a deeper awareness of themselves and their patterns, leverage their strengths and make shifts towards their goals. When working with caregivers, I help them "decode" their child's behaviours and build deeper connections with them.

Life is full of anxiety, grief, failure, conflict, disappointment, insecurity, and isolation. Sometimes we get entangled in our thoughts, lose touch with the present, and act in self-defeating ways. Maybe you’re living a life that’s not yours, all you know is the expectations of others, or you’ve lost touch with your identity. Perhaps you’re in the midst of a painful transition - an injury, career change, break-up, or loss - and the path forward is unclear. There’s a nagging feeling that something just isn’t quite right. These are all normal experiences of a full human life, and you don’t have to navigate them alone.

You deserve to be seen and heard, not just for what you achieve, but for who you are. I’m an Asian-Canadian therapist and second gen immigrant, and much of my work is rooted in supporting Asians, people within the Asian diaspora, and other people of colour as they navigate identity, cultural expectations and complex family dynamics. I also work closely with athletes and high achievers who are ready to untangle their relationship with performance, perfectionism, and self-worth. Together, we work on building a more secure sense of identity and worth that isn’t solely tied to productivity or external validation.

All humans have the capacity for wellness, healing, and growth, despite the adversities we face. As a former national team athlete and current RCC, I have a unique understanding of the psychological pressures that coincide with sport-participation and managing difficult emotions. I also enjoy working with a diverse range of clients (16+) and couples to address a variety of concerns. These areas may include, but are not limited to, challenges with performance and social anxiety, depression, trauma/abuse, relational conflict, grief/loss, and disordered eating/RED-S.

People sometimes feel they are alone and that no one understands what they’re going through. They might just ‘push through’ because they believe they have to, try things that work for others but not them, or forget what’s helpful to them anymore. These efforts can leave anyone feeling stuck, tired, and looking for change. I use an approach that is practical, strengths-focused, and recognizing the whole individual. My aim is to build a therapeutic relationship of understanding, possibility, and direction to help folks get closer to what they want in life.

When achievement becomes your identity, even small setbacks can feel like a crisis of self.
In sport, on stage, or in other high‑achievement environments, your sense of worth can become tightly linked to how well you perform. Injury, burnout, or life transitions don’t just interrupt routines — they can quietly shake your sense of who you are.
I work with youth and young adults — especially athletes and performers — who are navigating perfectionism, performance anxiety, and identity shifts. Together, we create space to untangle self‑worth from achievement and make room for the parts of you that exist beyond performance.

I work with youth (11+) who struggle with performance anxiety in sport performance. Many perform well in practice but feel overwhelmed when stakes rise — experiencing racing thoughts, stomach aches, tightness, or fear of mistakes. Some avoid pressure situations while others become highly self-critical. They don’t lack ability — they struggle with confidence under pressure. My approach is practical and structured, helping youths understand anxiety and build tools to manage it.

You’ve been holding it all together through the pain, stress, and the quiet weight of disconnection. It might be showing up as tension in your body, exhaustion, anxiety, or feeling stuck despite doing “everything right.”
Many of my clients are high achieving, current or former athletes, or people who’ve learned to push through and carry on. Beneath that strength is often a quiet longing for rest, clarity, and the space to be fully themselves. They’re not seeking a quick fix. They want to feel more at home in their body, soften their inner critic, and reconnect with their own wisdom in a way that feels steady, meaningful, and real.

Sports Performance Counsellors
How does sports psychology work?
Sports psychology helps athletes identify and overcome challenges, such as perfectionism or a fear of failure, and improve key mental skills, such as confidence or concentration. By applying principles and techniques from psychology, such as goal-setting, visualisation, positive self-talk, and emotion regulation, sports psychologists help athletes improve their performance on the field and their well-being overall.
How long does treatment for a sports-related problem take?
The duration of sports psychology treatment depends on the athlete’s individual challenges, goals, the complexity of the interventions used, and even on the length of the season. A performance anxiety issue may be treated with a short-term treatment, like Cognitive behavioural therapy, while issues such as depression, substance abuse, or severe anxiety may require longer-term treatments.
How effective is treatment for sports performance problems?
Sports psychology has been shown to improve performance and help athletes manage their emotions. Sports psychology can be effective in boosting performance, team dynamics, and injury rehabilitation. Over the past decade, nearly every professional sports team in every major sport has added a sports psychologist to its staff. Many colleges have done the same, and even some high school programs have done the same. Olympic hopefuls may consult with sports psychologists starting in elementary school.
What are the limitations of sports psychology?
Sports psychology may have several limitations. Every athlete is unique and may respond differently to sports psychology treatments. Therapy can help an athlete reach their potential; it can help athletes cope with injury and pain, but it cannot change the physical limitations that may be affecting an athlete’s performance.
