If you're feeling emotionally overwhelmed or stuck with insomnia, complex trauma, or the challenges of living with a neurodivergent brain, there's a good chance we could work well together.
For insomnia, my approach is grounded in Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT) and psychoeducation, to give you a roadmap for recovery.. For trauma and neurodivergence, I work relationally and creatively, using somatic tools and parts work (TIST) to help you reconnect with safety, agency, and self-trust.

Are you sick and tired of being tired after a bad night’s sleep?
It’s not a magic pill, but it’s shown in research to be as effective as sleep medications within a few weeks; it’s longer lasting, without all the risks and side effects. After struggling for years with chronic insomnia myself and finding nowhere to turn for real help, I completed specialized training in insomnia therapy. These strategies changed my life!

It can be difficult to reach out and start therapy. It is important to find a psychologist who is warm and supportive and also has the training and experience to help you understand and resolve your difficulties. I have been a Registered Psychologist for almost twenty years. I have worked with teens and adults to address a variety of issues, including depression, anxiety, trauma, stress, anger, chronic pain, and the sequalae from traumatic brain injury. We will work together so that you can fully understand the nature of your symptoms, focus on your strengths, and learn new tools to address the problems that you are experiencing.

Key focus areas: life transitions, women's health struggles (perimenopause), sleep issues and relationships, both work and home.
Hi, I'm Magdalena! I work with people who say daily, "I'm overwhelmed". They struggle silently and feel all alone. Those who appear capable and composed, yet inside, are navigating anxiety, self-doubt, disconnection, or a deep sense of being lost. I work with those in life’s in-between space, when identity, purpose, or relationships feel uncertain, feel unmoored. Whether you're facing adulthood, planning your career, stressed with work dynamics, navigating romantic relationships or grieving a stage of life or your body. I offer depth-oriented, emotionally attuned, inclusive therapy for those who carry a lot and rarely feel seen.

Hi there! I'm a Second-Generation Chinese-Canadian (born and raised in Vancouver), and Registered Clinical Counsellor with my M.A. in Counselling Psychology from UBC. I often work with individuals who are navigating complex emotional challenges where problems vary from being clearly defined (ie. feeling overwhelmed or "stuck"), or unsure of what is exactly "wrong." My approach involves developing a therapeutic relationship where we can work together supported by compassion, non-judgement, and intention. The goal is not to "fix" someone but to support you in developing or adapting strengths to help you move forward.

I work with adults of all ages dealing with issues related to anxiety, depression, sleep disturbances/ insomnia, self-esteem, and major life transitions.
Do you feel lost, stuck, or without direction and find yourself in a cycle of overwhelm, anxiety, and avoidance? Are you feeling disconnected from yourself and your vision of what you thought life would be? If your sense of self-worth has taken a hit and you’re struggling to cope and find a path forward, know you’re not alone. The way you’re doing things now doesn’t have to be forever – I believe we all have the innate capacity to heal, evolve, and ultimately live more authentically.

I can offer treatment for people who have difficulties with depression, anxiety, trauma, addiction, insomnia/ sleep issues, and many other mental or physical health issues.
I heard that the purpose of therapy is not meant to change who you are, but to become who you really are. I use evidence-based therapy to help you learn skills to better face challenges while also building insight into how these issues may have come about. I use a type of talk therapy called Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), which focuses on understanding and being open to thoughts and emotions, being aware of the present moment and your perspective in it, and deepening your values with actionable steps. I also do assessments for Family Law matters such as Section 211, Parental Capacity, and Views of the Child Reports.

I help many clients struggling with anxiety, depression, and sleep.
I help people transform fear into excitement so they can enjoy the roller coaster of life. What if anxiety and excitement feel identical in the body? The difference is the story we tell ourselves. You're not broken — you have a busy, brilliant mind that worries too much. I learned this at age seven on my first roller coaster: the same pounding heart transformed from terror into exhilaration the moment the ride began. That experience never left me. Anxiety makes the uncontrollable feel urgent and the changeable feel impossible. Our work is learning the difference: what can change with effort, and what calls for radical acceptance.

Having your life disrupted by insomnia isn’t just physically exhausting.
Common solutions attempt to mask symptoms. Together we’ll take a different approach. We’ll work on reducing the hyperarousal (heightened alertness) that is blocking your sleep. As a certified sleep coach and former insomniac, I’m passionate about partnering with my clients to provide the education, support, and tools to make overcoming insomnia possible.

My clients are thoughtful, self-aware people who often feel anxious, overwhelmed, or stuck repeating patterns they can’t seem to shift. They’ve tried managing on their own but want deeper, lasting change—more calm, confidence, and ease in daily life. Many come to me when they’re truly ready to let go of old habits, fears, or self-doubt. Through clinical hypnotherapy, we work to calm the mind, regulate the nervous system, and reprogram subconscious patterns so you can move forward feeling lighter, clearer, and more at peace.

How effective is treatment for insomnia?
The most effective treatments for insomnia are behavioral techniques that reduce anxiety, including anxiety about falling asleep, and allow the body’s natural cycles to be recalibrated. The most common treatment is cognitive behavioral therapy for insomnia (CBT-I), which researchers have found to be more useful than medication, with rates of success as high as 80 percent.

Are there specific medications for sleep problems?
There are many medications, both over-the-counter and prescription that treat sleep problems. Supplements such as melatonin are popular and may help, though there is little evidence that it is more effective than a placebo. Prescription medications such as zolpidem are sometimes prescribed.

Are there natural treatments for sleep problems?
There are many natural treatments for everyday sleep problems. Reducing blue-light emitting screens, setting a regular bedtime, regular exercise, reducing caffeine and nicotine consumption, and keeping the bedroom dark and cool at night are all lifestyle changes that can help those who struggle with sleep but may not reach the level of an insomnia diagnosis.

What’s the difference between having trouble falling asleep and insomnia?
Life events, stress, and anxiety can lead to sleepless nights for everyone from time to time. To be diagnosed with insomnia, a patient must experience trouble falling asleep, trouble remaining asleep, waking up too early, or non-restorative sleep at least three nights per week for at least one month. Sleep problems affect one-third to one-half of the population, while chronic insomnia affects about 10 to 15 percent of people.
