We offer narrative therapy, motivational interviewing, somatic therapy, mindfulness, and secular Buddhist psychology.
We all have things we’ve been told about ourselves that we internalize and start telling ourselves. Do you struggle with a story or belief about yourself that holds you back? Does this cause you some stress, loneliness, conflict in your relationships, or even lead you into misusing alcohol or substances? Now, more than ever, a lot of us are feeling disconnected from others and under the spell of negative stories about ourselves. In my practice, my team and I believe that these stories can be rewritten, that we are each the author of our own lives.

I explore this using a combination of somatic and thought-based approaches, including Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy, Internal Family Systems, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy.
We all know the classic image of therapy: sitting in a dimly lit room, across from a stranger with a notepad, telling them your secrets. It can feel scary! But so can feeling lost and out of control of your life. Sometimes, for reasons we know and for reasons we don’t, our emotions run the show. I facilitate a space of trust, compassion, and humor, to guide you in regaining control. I am familiar working with all ages, and most commonly young adults, to learn to manage stressful times, regulate overwhelming feelings such as anxiety and depression, navigate relationships, develop a strong sense of identity, and improve self-esteem.

I utilize and combine a variety of counselling models; integrative psychotherapy, which for me includes person-centred, trauma informed, family systems therapy, attachment theory, CBT, mindfulness-based, narrative, existential, solution focused..
My counselling approach is genuinely listening, not only to words, but the meaning, with understanding, compassion and kindness.  The positive therapeutic relationship between a client and counsellor is everything. I use a Humanistic-Experiential approach which nurtures openness, cultivating a deeply compassionate relationship with your inner self, and acknowledging your thoughts, feelings and desires without judgment. “The curious paradox is that when I accept myself just as I am, then I can change.” ― Carl R. Rogers

My holistic approach integrates mindfulness, self-compassion, solution-focused, and existential therapy.
I have worked in social services for over 15 years and have experience working with a wide variety of people, primarily with neurodivergent people. I endeavour to offer a safe, non-judgmental, collaborative, and compassionate space where my clients feel comfortable expressing their emotions. My stance is trauma-informed and anti-oppressive, and I bring a gentle, grounding presence to my work. Some of the people I have worked with are struggling with ADHD, depression, anxiety, grief and loss, and neurodiversity.

My approach involves mindfulness-based somatic therapy to build trust and safety in the body for effective EMDR and general counselling.
I always have been drawn to uncovering the complex ways we are impacted the experiences in our lives. In particular the impact of trauma on our resilience and on our 'stuck' places. Our bodies carry the weight of our histories and the histories we inherit. In reprocessing trauma it is necessary for us to be attuned to these somatic experiences and to foster the wisdom stored within our bodies.

Together, we'll create a plan that includes trauma-informed therapy, mindfulness, EMDR, and yoga therapy, tailored to your needs.
You want to feel safe, whole, and in control again—but trauma, anxiety, or grief keep getting in the way. Maybe you’re living with flashbacks, intrusive thoughts, or emotional numbness. Maybe it's hard to trust others, connect with your body, or find a sense of purpose. You might be recovering from sexual assault, substance use, or long-held grief. And you’re tired of carrying it all alone. You don’t have to keep struggling. In a world that often dismisses your pain, you deserve a space that sees you clearly. I offer trauma-informed, affirming, and culturally aware therapy—because your story, identity, and experiences matter.

We integrate the principles of acceptance-based and mindfulness-based approaches along with more traditional CBT -based methods.
CBT is an active, skills-based approach to therapy in which client and therapist work collaboratively to identify therapy goals and to select the methods to be used to reach them. Most sessions involve the creation of a plan for action between meetings, as well as therapeutic exercises and discussion.

Mindfulness-Based (MBCT) Counsellors

How does mindfulness-based cognitive therapy work?

Mindfulness-based cognitive therapy originated in the work of John Kabat-Zinn of the University of Massachusetts Medical School. He developed mindfulness-based stress reduction, which is a technique found in yoga and meditation. MBCT is a combination of this type of stress reduction and cognitive behavioral therapy; it essentially quiets emotional distress through mindfulness, utilizing proper breathing and meditation. These techniques aim to bring the individual into the present moment when in a state of distress.

When do I know if I need treatment with mindfulness-based cognitive therapy?

If an individual’s mind is filled with emotional distress and general negativity, the person may feel trapped. A mindfulness-based cognitive therapist can help a person change their thinking patterns as well as their behaviour through calm acceptance and compassion. This therapy can provide an individual with the coping skills needed for a healthier and more constructive life.

What should I expect from mindfulness-based cognitive therapy?

This therapy often takes place in group sessions. A therapist will work with the group as well as with each individual. Meditation and breathing exercises are core practices that aim to invite inquiry and discovery into a person’s troubled mental state. The objective is to identify and lessen negative thoughts and behaviours and move toward optimal health and productivity. The individual will see life in a more realistic way. This therapy is supportive, accepting, and warm.

Is mindfulness-based cognitive therapy effective?

Mindfulness-based cognitive therapy is evidence-based and effective. One study found that people with major depressive disorder have benefitted from this type of therapy; the person accepts their distressed thoughts and also moves into healthier patterns of thinking. This therapy also aims to move an individual away from automatic negative responses. This type of therapy can bring a person lifelong change, with higher levels of satisfaction, less stress, as well as positive emotional and behavioural habits.
