The treatment of compulsive sexual behaviour (sometimes called sex/pornography addiction) and partner betrayal trauma is a specialty - it is not a sub-set of sex therapy, couples therapy, or substance addiction treatment.
Treatment Philosophy - I am committed to providing a safe, non-shaming, non-judgmental, professional and confidential space for those with concerns about the effect that compulsive sexual behaviour is having on their lives, offering support to the individuals acting out, as well as their partners. I believe in facilitating recovery using a step-by-step neurobiological approach, wherein new learning and connections create the fundamental brain shifts required to overcome compulsion, achieving better health and relationships. I honour the uniqueness of all clients' experiences, and the relevance of tradition and orientation in our diverse stories and individual paths to change.

I work with individuals dealing with infidelity , betrayal , abuse, trauma and pornography or sex addiction. If you need to figure out why you are engaging in behaviours that are contrary to your personal ethics and then stop those behaviours once and for all, I'd love to help! Whether it is understanding why you found yourself having an affair, or why you cannot stop looking at pornography once and for all, or any of the issues listed here: doing the deeper work of understanding the 'why' and then pursuing the healing and changes necessary will move you towards the life you want. One of integrity, peace and freedom from guilt...

Do you feel stuck not knowing how to improve your relationship? Do you feel like you're constantly having the same fight and it never feels resolved? Whether you are looking for a relationship tune-up, or you’re feeling hopeless about your relationship after a betrayal , I am here to help. Research has repeatedly shown that the relationship you have with your counsellor predicts the success you experience in counselling. This is why I prioritize creating a non-judgmental, empathic environment where both partners feel heard. Instead of taking sides between the two of you, I take the side of the relationship.

If you are searching for a respectful and non-judgmental couples therapist, chances are you've been struggling for a while, just hoping things will get better on their own. My work is focused on couples conflict, relational trauma, and sexuality concerns. Whether the problem is infidelity or another traumatic event, lack of interest in sex, drifting apart in your relationship, or constant bickering and rehashing old arguments, the problems facing you as a couple can be overwhelming. It's natural to feel vulnerable and at the same time yearn for a safe place to talk it out with someone who can help.

I specialize in working with traumatic life events, and relational hurt and betrayal using both a collaborative approach and trauma-specific techniques to help you process and move forward from your past.
If you are feeling stuck in your past, old ways of coping, or are replaying painful memories I want you to know that there is hope for your future. I work with many people, who, like you, each have unique stories, and have done their best to push forward and to leave their hurts behind. You may be surrounded by people, and yet feel a longing in your life for deeper connection and relationships. You might even feel disconnected from yourself, your body, and others. Perhaps you have tried to cope with the distress by turning to substances, food, self-harm, shopping, work, or other ways of feeling in control.

Infidelity Counsellors

How does therapy for infidelity work?

A skilled infidelity therapist will provide a safe space for clients to communicate their feelings and concerns. The goal is to be completely honest about what led to the cheating and how it has affected the entire family to prevent it from recurring in the future. The therapist will help the clients work on rebuilding mutual trust and respect and developing better communication and conflict-resolution skills. If the goal is to remain a couple, clients will learn the “danger signs” for their specific relationship, and they will make a renewed commitment to be faithful.

How long does therapy for infidelity take?

Recovery from infidelity can take time, and it can vary from person to person. Generally, a therapist will want to see the clients at least once a week for around six months. Then the sessions can be arranged as needed, depending on the clients’ individual needs. While therapy may end or shift to an as-needed basis, it can take up to two years or more for some clients to fully recover from infidelity.

How does therapy help the partner who was cheated on?

When a client discovers their partner’s infidelity, their trust in the relationship and in the life they had together may be shattered. They often experience mental health symptoms, such as anxiety, depression, grief, and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). They don’t always want to stay in the relationship; they may feel ambivalent or may even want to leave. Therapy gives these clients a safe and healthy way to communicate all of their complicated emotions and concerns.

How does therapy help the partner who committed infidelity?

Infidelity often occurs when one or both partners’ emotional needs are not being met in the relationship. Therapy can help this client understand why they cheated and figure out how to address those unmet needs without resorting to infidelity in the future. This can lessen (but not entirely eliminate) the risk of repeated infidelity. Clients who cheat may also feel intense guilt about deceiving their partners, a sentiment that they can work through in therapy.
