I use an integrative mix of evidence-based tools depending on your individual needs, drawing primarily from Internal Family Systems ('parts work'), Attachment, Polyvagal, and EMDR interventions.
Are you feeling stuck, disconnected, or struggling to feel comfortable with yourself or others? Does it feel like memories, relationships or experiences from the past continue to hijack your mind and body? Trauma symptoms can show up in a variety of ways, often mistaken as simply anxiety, panic, depression, low self-esteem, or relationship difficulties. If you are ready to try therapy that goes deeper than simply reframing thoughts, you've come to the right place. I bring a compassionate and non-judgmental approach. Common areas I work with are perfectionism, anxiety, relationships, trauma, self-worth, and sensitive folx.

To paraphrase the great actress Kerry Washington: Having a counsellor is like having a personal trainer for your mind. Personal trainers help you keep your body healthy. Counsellors help you keep your mind healthy. If you feel as though you are putting on a daily performance for yourself and others, acting at having it together, or just faking it to make it, therapy is a place to take the mask off. So, come as you are. There is nothing you can’t be and can’t feel in our sessions together.

I have a passion for helping children, teens, and young adults navigate life's challenges. My approach is rooted in psychodynamic theory, which allows me to delve deep into the unconscious mind to uncover the root causes of emotional distress. However, I also believe that creativity can be a powerful tool in therapy, which is why I incorporate art, play, and other expressive techniques into my work. Additionally, I draw on a range of other therapeutic modalities, including cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) and mindfulness, to meet the unique needs of each client.

My ideal clients are often high-functioning on the outside but feeling exhausted and overwhelmed inside. They may struggle with overthinking, second-guessing decisions, or being their own harshest critic. Many are navigating major life transitions, living with ADHD, or feeling disconnected from themselves and unsure of what they want. They long for a sense of steadiness, to quiet their inner critic, find relief from anxiety, and begin trusting themselves enough to live with more confidence and ease.

What do family therapists do?
A family therapist facilitates the process of understanding and improving how a family functions. The therapist will help family members develop empathy for one another. They’ll seek to understand existing patterns, misunderstandings, and conflicts that arise, in order to help the family arrive at a realistic, unified understanding and develop the coping skills they need to build stronger relationships.
How long does therapy for families take to work?
Therapy manifests differently in every family; a common time frame is 12 weekly sessions, but some families may see improvement after just a few weeks. Families should discuss their goals with the therapist at the beginning of the process and periodically revisit those goals to assess their progress together.
How can you encourage a family member to attend family therapy?
You can encourage family members to attend therapy by expressing with both love and concern the challenges you see and explaining how a therapist could help the family navigate those challenges together. An outside perspective can help everyone feel heard, get on the same page, and develop new skills. If family members are still hesitant, it may be helpful to emphasize that family therapy is short-term—it won’t last forever.
Is therapy for families effective?
Family therapy can significantly improve family dynamics and relationships. Research suggests that family therapy can help individuals understand their role in the family, communicate and solve problems together, reduce conflict and draw boundaries when necessary, and develop coping skills for stressors, major life changes, and mental or physical illnesses within the family.
