I believe that we're all scared little kids in adult bodies. And that we all are pursuing safety, not happiness. Growing up, most of us never experienced consistent emotional safety and we've been in survival mode ever since. Perfectionism, people pleasing, over thinking and the self critic are some of the defense mechanisms that we leaned on to find safety. They helped us survive for sure and the cost has been constant dissociation, exhaustion and procrastination. Since our coping mechanisms were developed unconsciously (before age 12), I believe that the healing process requires an intentional effort to be present with ourselves.

Sometimes insight alone is not enough to create change. Many of the patterns that keep us stuck live in the brain’s emotional learning systems, which is why therapy that works with both mind and nervous system can be so powerful. I integrate CBT, Internal Family Systems, bilateral stimulation, and neuroscience-informed hypnotherapy to help gently update these patterns. In a calm, focused state, new perspectives and responses can emerge naturally. My goal is to help you reconnect with clarity, resilience, and a stronger sense of direction.

I work with people experiencing difficult problems. Such problems go by many names, and may be new or old, but all share the common trait of stubbornly obstructing our happiness. You might feel depressed, anxious, stuck or directionless, unable to steer toward a more hopeful future. You might struggle with the overwhelming complexity of your life, or feel paralyzed by the choices it presents. You might lament the harshness with which you treat yourself or those you love. Whatever they do, however they operate, these problems make life needlessly hard.

The Self calls to us in many ways. Life may feel destabilized, old patterns may be breaking, and a sense of urgency or confusion can arise. A crisis may reveal itself as significant relationship challenge, great loss, suicidal thoughts, loss of meaning, persistent anxiety, addiction, or simply an uncomfortable tug that persists no matter our efforts. These experiences are the psyches invitation into deeper awareness. My work offers a space to explore, attune, and integrate the deeper truths within you.

I work with people facing challenge in their lives, new or old. Anxiety or fear may have narrowed your world. Self-doubt may have grown louder, quietly shaping your choices. You might be pouring energy into your relationships, but feel undernourished by them. You may be exhausted from carrying too much for too long, or be puzzled by a heaviness that settled in without a clear cause. Things may even look steady on the outside while something inside isn’t settled. Much of my work centres around these issues and how your unique experiences, past and present, play a role.

Are you stuck in a cycle of obsessing about food, bingeing, restricting, or feeling out of control around eating? Maybe you feel consumed by thoughts about your body or never quite feeling “good enough.” You might be trying so hard to do everything right but instead feel overwhelmed, ashamed, or exhausted. It’s draining to live in a loop where food and your body take up so much space in your mind, leaving little room for anything else. I specialize in supporting all eating disorders, disordered eating, body image distress, and the pressure to meet impossible standards, you deserve support that actually helps you move forward.

I offer direct billing for many insurance plans, including Pacific Blue Cross, CanadaLife, Manulife, and SunLife.
I welcome clients who seek a collaborative, non-judgmental process focused on addressing painful emotions and circumstances. We will address difficult relationship patterns, grieve unacceptable losses, and investigate ways to change hopelessly stuck situations. While I specialize in working with anxiety, stress, depression, relationship challenges, life transitions and complex grief, I welcome all clients who are seeking a therapist who is present, authentic, and comfortable in complex and hard-to-resolve situations (and who doesn't sound like ChatGPT.)

The human experience is infinite in complexity, diversity and meaning. The nature of concerns bringing a person into therapy can be too — It’s rarely as simple as a behaviour, a diagnosis, a relationship problem or a life event. I have over a decade of experience helping people work through a range of concerns including: difficulty in relationships, Trauma, Depression, Anxiety, BPD, C-PTSD, and Bereavement/ Suicide Bereavement. If any of these present a struggle for you in your life, or the life of a loved one whom you support, I would be honoured to hear from you and work together towards finding some healthy, sustainable relief.

You may seem successful on the outside, but inside, you might feel overwhelmed, burned out, or stuck. Maybe you’re searching for an Asian therapist because you don’t feel seen or heard, even when you try your best. I understand what you’re going through. You could be carrying intergenerational trauma, cultural pressure, people-pleasing habits, or perfectionism. Stress from work, family expectations, identity struggles, or anti-Asian racism can affect your confidence, sleep, and emotional health. You want relief, clarity, and balance, while staying connected to your culture and value.

I believe mental health is not a permanent state but a dynamic one, characterized by periods of equilibrium and disequilibrium. The latter can manifest as frustration, disappointment, helplessness, somatic pain, chronic fatigue, dysfunction, job loss, impulsive behaviors, relational difficulties, and varying levels of anxiety. The good news is that, together, we can successfully navigate these periods of disequilibrium to achieve a higher level of growth and a new equilibrium through our therapeutic sessions.
