My approach to counselling is creative, gentle, hopeful, and liberatory. I believe in meeting each person where they are at & exploring imaginative ways of expressing and understanding ourselves (like play and art!). You can arrive exactly as you are - messy, tender, rageful, or whatever it may be. My practice is grounded in an anti-oppressive, justice-oriented lens. This means I will attune to your individual experience, alongside how systemic forces we exist within impacts your life. Leaning into justice in counselling looks like working towards reclaiming power, disrupting oppressive narratives, and liberation alongside healing.

Through EMDR and Internal Family Systems, we ease the weight of past experiences and the stress your body has been carrying. With the Gottman Method and Emotionally Focused Therapy, I support couples in rebuilding trust, communication and closeness.

If you have been feeling distant from your partner or finding that your conflicts go around in circles, I am the right therapist for you. Regardless of the specific issue, I find that one thing can often be missing—a close connection, a secure attachment, or sometimes it’s that “spark” that brought them together initially. Through communication and other skills, I support couples in rebuilding that connection. Once this foundation is established, the couples often share that they feel softer and more endearing toward each other, naturally becoming more open to exploring new ways to solve the old issues.

People are not their diagnoses even though these labels can sometimes be informative. I prefer to get to know you. Specifically, what do you want out of therapy? What is currently working for you, not working? What brings you in to see me in this moment? I believe that therapy is not only about reducing our suffering, but also finding meaning and fulfillment in our lives. It is about getting to know ourselves, parts that we love, parts that we are afraid of, parts that we don't yet understand. People are also not things that need to be "fixed", instead, this is a place for healing, self-compassion, and growth.

Have you ever rushed out the door only to realize you forgot something or spilled coffee all over yourself? Have you ever said to yourself, “I'm tired of feeling this way/ I shouldn’t be feeling like this,” yet the feelings persist and sometimes come back stronger? These may seem like two distinct, unrelated instances I am raising, but I parallel them with how we often approach our problems: we tend to want to rush through them or judge ourselves for having the emotions and reactions to the difficulties life tosses at us. I’m here to propose an alternative: your feelings are valid, no matter what you’re seeking help for.

As a BIPOC female settler of 2nd-generation East Asian descent with ADHD, I bring lived experience and cultural sensitivity to my trauma-informed practice.
I take a holistic, nervous system-focused approach to therapy, working toward a deep understanding of your body's unique patterns. By targeting the root causes of emotional and physical distress, we aim for permanent resolution rather than temporary relief. With an attachment-focused framework, we’ll also explore your relationships to foster healing.

Do you struggle with self-blame, fear of judgment, or saying no? Are you taking on too much responsibility or feeling unproductive? Many of my clients like you feel pressured to meet high expectations and avoid mistakes—not just from perfectionism, but from a fear of letting others down. They may internalize criticism and ruminate on perceived faults or 'failures,' which fuels a cycle of anxiety and self-doubt. For some, this stems from past experiences where expressing needs wasn’t encouraged, or they were told they were 'wrong' for how they felt. You may feel unseen, or not enough, which can drain energy and block self-care.

There was a time when I felt like I was moving through life slightly underwater, disconnected from myself and weighed down by something I couldn’t name. Over time, I realized my pain wasn’t only personal, but also shaped by the systems around me. We live in a world that often rewards disconnection, numbing, quick fixes, and performance over presence. As bell hooks says, “Rarely, if ever, are any of us healed in isolation. Healing is an act of communion.” I'm here to walk alongside you in your unfolding: to help you remember love, worthiness, and belonging, and to access play and creativity again.

Many of the people I support are BIPOC, Asian, or from immigrant families who may be exploring the impact of cultural identity and family expectations and their own sense of self.
My approach is warm, collaborative, and person-centered. To me, therapy is about helping you understand yourself more deeply, build compassion for what you have been through, and develop tools to support you in your everyday life. I work with empathy, openness, and respect, and tailor our sessions to what feels most helpful for you.

Welcome! My name is Lilian and I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) with a Master of Counselling Psychology (MCP). As long as I can remember, I have felt drawn to supporting others. As a first-generation immigrant from China, I often struggled with navigating cultural stigma towards mental health, while also finding language and compassion for my experiences. I’m also deeply familiar with the challenges of navigating personal identity, relationships, and values in today’s complex landscape of sociopolitical, cultural, and religious structures. I truly believe that with the right fit counselling can be incredibly healing.
