Art Therapy in Vancouver, BC
As a Certified Level 2 IFS, Trauma, and Art Therapist, I provide more than talk therapy; I hold space to move through parts that feel overwhelmed, anxious, or in emotional and physical pain.
I invite highly sensitive individuals, those wishing to explore neurodiversity, parentified children, people navigating trauma, anxiety, depression, stress of immigration, legacy burdens, or parenting challenges to receive support and practical tools. Our work is deep, creative, and often enjoyable—healing can be a truly fascinating and liberating journey.

My priority as a therapist is to create a non judgemental, client focused space for you to explore the many facets of yourself. Oftentimes during our upbringing we start to tuck away components of self in order to fit in until we come to a time where we feel fragmented. Therapy can be a wonderful space to allow for these pieces to come back together and to feel free to be the truest version of yourself. Whether you are experiencing anxiety, have gone through a recent loss or transitioning into a new chapter of life, I am here to walk beside you. I look forward to working with you.

When working with children, I offer Sand Therapy, Play Therapy and Art Therapy.
I'm a Registered Clinical Counsellor who loves working with children, teenagers, adults and parents toward a fulfilling life that is envisioned by them. I believe that seeking counselling is one of the most important decisions that people can make for themselves and their loved ones. Embarking on a journey of self growth and healing can be difficult; yet, I know firsthand that the results are worthwhile. Most clients work with me to better manage stress, anxiety, depression, marital challenges, family conflicts, phobias and ADHD.

People with ADHD are bright, empathetic, and creative. We often struggle with harnessing our uniquely wired brains to fit into a world built for neurotypicals. We know we are capable of so much more, but we're functioning well under that capacity. Examples of the issues we experience include time management, organization, remembering things and motivating ourselves to do things. Other forms of mental illness may accompany our ADHD. However, with some support, we can improve our systems for functioning in ways that are actually fun. We can also improve our intimate relationships, which makes life better all-round.

I use my additional training in Play Therapies, Art, Drama, Movement- to help clients (even very young ones) explore difficult feelings -frustration, anger, sadness, confusion, etc.
Human beings are complicated-so often we attempt to reach out to others using words to express our thoughts, our emotions, and our behaviours. With children/youth, we see additional communication barriers because of fewer words and limited life experiences. Being part of a family system should bring safety and emotional support but sometimes this is not possible without help. My work is to enable us to become partners in the process of change- discovering strengths, new awareness and building on this. Imagine my holding up a mirror for you, so that with each session, you are able to discover and appreciate more of who you truly are.

I use creative methods like art, music, and movement (as well as just plain talking!) to help clients get unstuck when life feels overwhelming, painful, or hopeless.
My work is grounded in an anti-oppressive and decolonial lens. Healing does not happen in isolation – we are deeply shaped by our communities, cultures, and the systems we live in. I strive to honour the wisdom and resilience of individuals and communities, while recognizing the ongoing impacts of colonization, systemic oppression, and trauma.

My ideal clients are thoughtful, self-aware individuals who feel stuck despite their best efforts to move forward. They may be navigating anxiety, burnout, relationship challenges, or major life transitions, and often come in feeling overwhelmed, disconnected, or unsure of themselves. Many are used to “holding it all together” on the outside while struggling internally. What brings them here is a desire for something deeper than quick fixes—they want clarity, relief, and a more meaningful connection to themselves and others.

One of the most difficult things to do in life is to ask for help. I understand that making the first call is stressful, and I am open to hearing your concerns as soon as we connect. I encompass a non judgmental approach, based on strength and resilience. I work collaboratively with my clients to empower them to make important changes in their lives. As a counselor, I support each client's own experience of their story. I take a holistic approach to understand the many layers that surround life challenges, to create connections and promote change.

While therapy can seem nebulous, I believe in demystifying the counselling process and don't ever want you wondering if this even works -it does! I use evidence-based best practices and help you develop the tools to address the roots of your concerns/patterns.

DREAMS are a creative way to work with the unconscious; to be creative means to bring something into being, and the unconscious is a source for that new being. We are not just what we know of ourselves. Our suffering has meaning and if we are struggling or in crisis this can be the catalyst for change. Carl Jung (1875-1961), tells us that "certain types of pain...are symbolically meaningful. This is one way the unconscious expresses itself." Our psyche is a part of nature and dreams come from that nature to speak to us in a metaphoric language.

Art therapy is available as part of the process if you like.
Are you going through a transition that feels bigger than you expected? Maybe it's a career change, retirement, a relationship shift, or a period of burnout where your usual ways of coping aren't working anymore. If you're someone who feels deeply and tends to carry the weight of change more than most, these times can feel especially overwhelming.

Art therapy offers a different way of healing — one that works through imagery, sensation, and physical movement to support deep change.
Hi, I’m Karen. I work with women and children experiencing anxiety, depression, burnout, and disconnection — often rooted in trauma, chronic illness, neurodivergence, or chronic stress. My approach recognizes how these experiences shape your nervous system and sense of self, and how they show up in daily life, relationships, and emotional wellbeing. I integrate talk therapy with creative and experiential approaches that engage the body and senses, offering ways to explore your inner world when words aren’t comfortable, accessible, or enough.
