My personal and my professional experiences guide me to educate, advocate for and support families and individuals who are experiencing challenges related to ADHD, anxiety, learning disabilities and conduct/behaviour related problems. I provide counselling, consultation and coaching to individuals, families and school staff. The doctor who has inspired my practice most significantly is Dr. Seuss. He wrote "If you judge a fish on how well it climbs a tree, it lives its life thinking its stupid".

I have over 15 years experience working with eating disorders and anxiety disorders of all kinds. Eating disorders can take many forms, therefore the treatment approach may vary however evidence based CBT is the most effective treatment in these areas, especially when it is paired in combination with psychodynamic, relational and hypnosis approaches also as needed. Healing is probable, and happens as a result of conscious daily actions and unconscious dynamics that shift as a result of this process. I work with individuals who are ready and willing to do the work to heal for life.

ONLINE ONLY. Using cutting edge neuroscience approaches and over 11 years experience practicing clinical social work, a session with me offers effective, results-oriented therapy in a non-judgemental, compassionate space. If you had one or more disturbing experiences that are life limiting in some way, I offer Rapid Resolution Therapy (RRT) which gently reframes and eliminates the emotional charge associated with the past event. I am highly motivated to help my clients heal from stuckness so they can experience more peace. I use an anti-oppressive, systems lens with years of education and experience with Indigenous people.

I help folks create the space, time and energy they need to heal and prevent burnout. Having experienced severe burnout on a personal & professional level, I know how difficult it is to take that first healing step. The idea of more work, even if it means you could feel better for it, might not be jiving with your energy levels right now. You're not alone. Our work together will seek to release pressure and relieve the painful symptoms associated with chronic stress, anxiety and burnout. I'm here to help you bring your much needed presence, gifts and experience back to your family, community and the world.

I am a Graduate Intern Therapist at Arbutus Counselling where I will continue to develop and expand my knowledge and skills to better serve the needs of counselling clients prior to registration with the British Columbia Association of Clinical Counsellors as a Registered Clinical Counsellor in late 2022. We have all had to endure struggles at some point – it’s the cost of admission to this thing called life. At the same time, I believe that we have innate resilience and strength to draw upon and a capacity to change and grow.

(accepting new clients) I believe deeply in our ability to heal and the resilience embedded within us all. I understand the pain of grief, trauma and stuckness and I am here to walk along side you as you move from a survival state into a more spacious place of thriving. For over a dozen years I have supported adults, youth, and children who have lived through various experiences of trauma as a front-line worker with several East Vancouver social service providers. I practice from a collaborative, attachment-based, trauma-aware, somatically-informed, arts-centred, anti-oppressive framework. Please contact me through e-mail.

We are a a trauma-informed team of Clinical Counsellors, Art Therapists and other health practitioners, experienced in working with teens, youth and adults braving a range of mental health challenges. We offer Individual, Relationship, Group and Online Counselling. We hold an affirming, inclusive, non-pathologizing, culturally-safe, humility-focused and harm-reduction lens in my practice. I hold a Narrative Therapy approach and often blend it with art therapy. W have found that this way, even the people with awkward hide-and-seek relationships with their mental health make consistent progress, despite the resistance.

You’re tired of walking on eggshells with your partner. You keep getting stuck in the same fights. You don’t feel heard or understood. Some days it seems you can’t communicate at all. You long for the days when it was easy and fun to be together. Now every little thing turns into an argument and it seems they’d rather be on their phone or in the garage than connect with you. Maybe you’re even worried about cheating. As for a sex life – well, what sex life?

I have a passion for working with youths, young adults, couples, and families on personal and relationship issues. My training is in Marriage and Family Therapy and I have experience working with youths and their families. I understand the difficulties of teenage development, but at the same time, I can appreciate how difficult it is to parent an adolescent. However, the "rebellious teen" is not inevitable and I would be happy to meet with you and your family to discuss your relationships and strategies for making parenting work.

Do you have responses that seem out of proportion to a triggering event, or emotions coming from unknown places and you aren't sure why they come up or why they linger long after an event? Are you or your loved one navigating addiction, recovery, or a mental health condition? Are you curious about developments in the field of psychedelic medicine, or have questions about clinical studies or harm-reduction? Perhaps you are having internal conflicts with your self, your identity, allyship and settler status, or life/work direction? Or maybe you just need a confidential, nonjudgmental, supportive space to express yourself?

What type of mental health professional is right for me?
Some of the most common types of mental health providers in Vancouver are psychologists, licensed counselors, therapists, psychotherapists, and licensed clinical social workers, all of whom diagnose mental health conditions and provide individualized treatment.

Services offered, education and credentials vary by type of mental health professional. Each professional in Vancouver then may specialize in certain areas, such as depression, marriage counseling, or anxiety. Although many mental health providers are not licensed to prescribe medication, they may coordinate with a provider who can.

Both in-person and online therapy sessions are available from most psychologists.

How to find a specialist?
You can refine your search using the filters on this page. There are several categories you can filter by to find mental health professionals with the experience you are looking for. You may want to filter for CBT Psychologists in Vancouver, or Child Psychologists in Vancouver.

Many find it useful to use filters to view only psychologists that have experience working with certain issues, like Vancouver psychologists specializing in EMDR.

What method of therapy is right for me?
When it comes to treatment methods, there's no 'right way.’ Each method of therapy can be beneficial for a variety of issues. Psychologists in Vancouver specialize in therapeutic approaches such as CBT, EMDR, and Interpersonal Therapy (IPT), among others. Finding a psychologist or therapist who is a good fit for you is the most important step to discovering what type of therapy, or combination of therapeutic approaches, will meet your individual needs. Learn what to expect from different types of therapy and how they work.

How to use my insurance?
Many therapists accept health insurance. Check to see if your insurance is covered. Feel free to discuss this when you contact the therapist.
