Most of my clients have not found relief through their prior therapy or medication experience, but have gained a good idea of what is not working. They have the tools, but can't seem to put it all together. They tend to have a feeling they can't resolve or get relief from. They do not want medications to resolve their PTSD, Complex PTSD, anxiety, depression, stress, or self-esteem issues. They may have considered suicide or used other control behaviors to help them self-regulate their emotions. They typically have experienced childhood trauma through verbal, sexual, neglect, and/or physical abuse that has invaded their adult lives.

I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor and Art Therapist with over 12 years of experience supporting people through trauma, complex family dynamics, challenges in emotional regulation and stress in interpersonal relationships. I work holistically, integrating talk therapy with creative art process, somatic work, and hypnotherapy to meet the clients at where they are. Because trauma is something we carry in our bodies, my work gently supports clients in connecting with deeper emotional experiences, including those that may be hard to access through words alone.

I work at the crossroads of culture, mental health, and social-economic integration. My counselling is for people who want to belong while staying true to themselves – especially racialized first and second-generation Canadians who may feel torn between worlds. Our background is not a footnote in our lives; it shapes our strengths and struggles, and how and where we find home. With years of learning and teaching language, religion and culture, and lived experience across the Arab world, South and Southeast Asia, and Canada, I help clients identify tools as well as traps in their heritage and discover their authentic selves.

Therapy with me means going at your own pace, without pressure or judgment. Life can be overwhelming, especially when you're carrying experiences that feel too heavy to share or process alone. I work with individuals navigating a variety of struggles including trauma, relationship conflicts, anxiety, and depression. If you're facing something new or living with a long-standing challenge, my aim is to create a non-judgemental and grounding space for you to feel safe. I use a trauma-informed and often narrative-based approach, and consider the whole person, as well as societal and cultural influences in our work together.

I work with people who intuitively sense that connection is part of healing. Many come to therapy feeling anxious, stuck, depressed, or at a crossroads. They often understand themselves deeply but still feel caught in patterns they can’t shift alone. Therapy offers a space where you don’t have to perform, explain everything perfectly, or hold it all on your own. Together, we slow things down and tune in. We dare to feel hard things, and something begins to shift. It’s more than symptom relief and tools. Our work is about reconnecting—with yourself—so you can feel more fully seen. If this resonates, you’re welcome to reach out.

I work with adults, couples, and teens with relationships, sex, identity, body image, self-esteem, and life changes. I support you using practical, evidence-based techniques, authentic connection, and a touch of humour. I believe you deserve to feel secure in your emotions, pleasure, and body. For individuals, we'll work through life's complexities and untangle narratives you have internalized, perhaps unconsciously, that impact how you show up in the world. For couples I support you to look deeper into reactions and arguments to find what you're really longing for: connection, appreciation, safety.

Mental health problems are fairly common among Canadians, with estimates that 20% of Canadians experience a mental health issue each year. Yet, people often suffer through these issues on their own. Just because you're going through a difficult time now doesn't mean it will always be this way. Speaking with a psychologist can help you move past these issues to get you back on track.

Anxiety can be challenging to live with. Having a negative experience in life which may include separation, grief, loss, infidelity or an experience in the past can sometimes impact our wellbeing. We may find ourselves under stress and feeling exhausted with overwhelming emotions. Our family life and work life may be burning us out. I provide a safe environment for you to be yourself without judgement and for me to support your personalized goals for counselling. You may require an ear to listen, someone to problem solve with, or to explore why you may say or behave how you do. I use skills and training to support your needs.

If you have had some painful life experiences that are feeling difficult to process or simply need some support in managing day to day challenges, I would like to help. I work with grief, trauma, anxiety, family dynamics and relationship issues. I believe that if we allow space for our emotions and give the pain the attention it needs, we can experience some relief from that pain and find where the light can seep in. We then can build a life full of meaning and happiness.

You’re doing your best to hold it all together—but it’s exhausting, and it’s okay to want support. In my practice, I offer in-person and online counselling for people who are often the dependable ones, the peacekeepers, the perfectionists—those who look like they’ve got it all together but feel overwhelmed and stuck inside.Maybe you’re a busy parent trying to keep up with endless to-dos, barely finding a moment to breathe. Or a professional who’s always on the go, struggling to unwind at the end of the day. Perhaps you travel often or live far from your support network—or maybe you simply want the comfort of talking from home.

Close your eyes for a second (or don’t… just hear me out) and think about how much more space you’d have in your life if anxiety wasn’t calling all the shots. That’s the kind of space I aim to help you create. As strange as it might sound, if you are exhausted, anxious, stressed, fed up with recurring symptoms, or unsure about therapy, I would love for you to book in with me. Bonus points if you’re navigating some obsessive-compulsive challenges. My hope is to show you that therapy doesn’t have to be like what you remember from childhood, or what you see on TV (the infamous “And how does that make you feel?” line).

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

Most Counsellors and Psychotherapists listed in the directory are certified by one of the main professional associations, mainly the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association (CCPA), and will have a Certified Canadian Counsellor (CCC) designation with their name. Social Workers listed in the directory must be registered members of the college specific to their province. To be listed in the directory, Psychologists must be registered with the psychological college specific to their province or territory.

Providers whose professional membership or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Given the considerable variation in professional regulation and prerequisites across Canadian provinces, some providers may possess significant professional qualifications without necessarily holding professional memberships or being obliged to acquire them. As a result, they may be selectively included without the "Verified" seal.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counsellor?

Psychologists, counsellors, psychotherapists and social workers can all provide counselling or talking therapy and have credentials and supervised, practical experience that enable them to do so in Canada.

Psychologists have a master's and/or doctoral degree and have passed both written and oral exams. Psychologists are able to complete mental health assessments and provide diagnostic information to clients as well as provide counselling therapy or psychotherapy. Counsellors and psychotherapists are expected to have a master's or doctoral degree in counselling psychology, social work, or a related mental health discipline and certification by a professional association, such as the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association. Registered Social Workers possess a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Social Work and where possible must be licensed or certified by the provincial government and/or regulatory college.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

How much does therapy cost?

The cost of therapy depends on a number of variables, including location and the therapist’s experience and training. On average, the cost of a therapy session in Canada could be between $100 and $200. If you have insurance, the expense of mental health care is typically lower, but it varies based on your insurance plan details and whether you choose an in-network or out-of-network mental healthcare provider.

What are more affordable or low cost therapy solutions?

Many therapists offer sliding scale payments, usually on a limited number of slots, which consists in an agreement between the therapist and a client to pay a reduced rate. Therapists who provide such arrangements often consider the client's income or ability to pay, but the extent of the discount is ultimately at the therapist's discretion. Furthermore, while group therapy may have different goals and benefits compared to individual therapy, it can be a more affordable solution to address certain types of issues.

If you are struggling to access therapy due to budget constraints, you could also consider public funded mental health services. Some types of outpatient mental health services are covered by Medicare, provided these are performed by a licensed mental health professional in the provinces or territory you reside in and who accepts the assignment.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your postal code.

Are therapy sessions confidential?

Professionals licensed by regulatory colleges and those certified by associations such as the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association are obligated to uphold client confidentiality unless there is a legal reason that requires them to disclose information. Confidentiality is a crucial part of the therapeutic relationship and only under specific circumstances, such as when there is the potential or known harm to the client or others, or a court order, will a therapist be obligated to break the agreement. These exceptions to the confidentiality agreement are usually discussed during the initial consultation.
