The people who gravitate towards me as a counsellor want to explore their personal struggles to gain a new understanding of who they are. They hope to apply the learnings from what we are doing in sessions to their day to day life. Change happens when we do something different from what we have always done, and part of our work together is doing just that. We practice having hard conversations, exploring feelings and unmet needs. As well as exploring boundaries, our own discomfort in relationship and how to take care of yourself. Coming to counselling takes courage but the biggest part is translating that experience into the world.

Having an addicted person in your life can feel like a nightmare and tear your family apart. In order for addiction to have a chance of healing, we must first address the dynamics of the addict's relationships with their loved ones. Many loved ones unwittingly enable the addiction to continue, sometimes because they want to avoid confrontation and conflict. As the enabling continues, the addiction continues as well-and becomes progressively worse. It is important to understand that enabling an addict is never a loving act-and only leads to more severe consequences as time goes on.

I love working with people who don’t feel they fit into conventional spaces such as those in the LGBTQIA2S community, sex workers, neurospicy folx and those with stigmatized identities such as BPD. My aim as a therapist is to create a safe and non-judgemental environment in which you feel comfortable talking about any thoughts, feelings, or experiences regardless of how embarrassing or shameful you believe them to be, and be met with acceptance, warmth, and respect.

Life can sometimes darken our hearts and make things feel difficult or even hopeless, as if there is no way out. You may battle with anxiety, depression, perfectionism or low self-worth while a strong inner critic berates you every step of the way. Perhaps you feel pulled in different directions, while feeling as though you are losing control over your life - at a loss to know where to start in order to break the negative cycles you find yourself trapped in. Amidst all this, relationships may suffer, not only with others, but also with yourself as you strive to find who you really are amongst all the chatter and chaos of your mind.

Do you often feel hijacked by insecurity, self doubt or anxiety? Are you longing for healthier connections and ease in your relationships? We are the way we are for good reasons. I validate and respect how you may have acquired certain behaviours and stances in order to deal with life’s challenges. At the same time, helping you adopt new, more constructive and effective patterns is one of the most exciting parts of therapy (for us both!). Whether you are dealing with a new concern or a long-standing issue, together we can identify the contributing factors so you can step forward with greater confidence and freedom.

There are times when we just don’t feel like ourselves. For some of us, this means feeling overwhelmed by our thoughts and emotions, while for others the disconnect can come from feeling nothing at all. This internal “ickiness” can show up through our emotions, thoughts, or in our body, and is often a scary, confusing, and unsettling experience. This intuitive feeling is typically caused by misalignment; whether it’s having conflict within ourselves, feeling out of step with those close to us, or feeling out of place in the world around us.

I believe that creating a safe, appreciative, and collaborative atmosphere is paramount in therapy. I am passionate about helping people explore their authentic selves, connect with their inner strengths, and use these strengths to create the changes that they desire. I believe people can use strengths and resources to not only overcome obstacles, but also to continually push themselves to achieve their ambitions. I love helping people embrace a growth mindset, view setbacks as opportunities for growth, and continuously strive towards being their best selves.

I was drawn to the role of therapist through my own transformative therapeutic and life journey. This life changing experience inspired me to first complete a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology in preparation for my Masters of Counselling degree. I have previously worked and supported people through the arts, not for profit and service sectors, with community at the core of my work. The constant threads being integrity, determination and connection. I believe my range of experiences has helped to expand my worldview and compassion for others.

I have been a mental health counsellor/therapist for over 25 years. In my experience, two very important factors in therapy are trust and safety. I believe trust is earned by the therapist and safety is experienced by the client as therapy progresses. What I have learned from my clients is that even when they experienced hopelessness at first, change was possible, and when there was change, no matter how small, they felt hopeful. My aim is to support clients and help them identify and achieve their short and long term goals, at school, at work, in their family and private lives.

My style of coaching is client-led, active, adventurous, collaborative, and compassionately challenging. Using specialised, bottom-up and top-down approaches to leverage brain design, functionality, and neuroplasticity, sessions go above and beyond the standard formulaic coaching model to engage the subconscious mind, deepen transformation, foster rapid results, and facilitate positive long-term change in neural architecture.

Going through separation and divorce is a rough process. The yelling, the tears or the fights that happen in the house is keeping you up at night and/or make you worry about your future. It is already difficult to discuss what belongs to who at this point, not to mention there are children involved. You want your children to be ok, but not sure how. Things that your partner said or did in the past seem to be stuck in your head and make you angry or sad. You want peace, you want no conflict and a way out of this emotional disaster. Talk to me, I am here to listen.
