I work with post-trauma injuries that are accumulated over time. My specialty is treating post-trauma injuries (PTSD) that are accumulated over multiple incidents seen within first responder populations and health care professionals. I also work with survivors of childhood trauma. If you are experiencing flashbacks, nightmares, agoraphobia, hyper-vigilance intrusive thoughts or images I use EMDR to treat these symptoms. I help you get your life back so that you can connect confidently again with your loved one. Sometimes my clients just need a safe place to make sense of what has happened to them. If that's you I am here to listen.

I have 22 years of experience helping people worldwide with their various life challenges such as anxiety, depression, anger issues, etc. I view therapy as an opportunity for personal growth, not just as a means of problem-solving. Many of our issues in the present stem from messages, both explicit or implied, that we learned during childhood to protect ourselves from criticism or judgement by parents, society or peer. Through therapy, we will work together to identify and uproot these messages that are holding us back. Too often these ‘messages’ turn into beliefs that lead to unconstructive defence mechanisms and coping strategies.

I work compassionately and non-judgmentally, with a focus on resourcing the body to help process emotions. I am highly relational, and my goal is to build an intimate relationship with you where you have the space to process and release what you've been carrying. I value working with intense emotions, insecure attachment, trauma, and unpacking life experiences to relieve symptoms of anxiety, stuckness, and feelings of unworthiness.

I have been working as a counsellor for nearly 5 years, and my focus is working relationally with my clients. I primarily work with individuals and couples but love to support all ages. I work to create a safe place for each client to feel seen and heard. I assist couples in navigating their struggles together while learning how to repair and build a stronger foundation in their relationship. I also have a special place in my heart for new parents, as this transition can feel really hard (and really special) at times. Two things can be true right?!

First of all, I wanted to say thank you. Looking for a therapist, for yourself or for someone close to you, requires energy and courage. Whether you are experiencing a particularly difficult or different situation recently or for a long time, whether you are in a deeper and more latent reflection, therapy is an answer to those aches and thoughts that fill and overwhelm you. Respecting yourself by offering you the possibility to feel better is, to my opinion, the most important step you are going to take for you. I propose therapy in English and French.

I go by he/him/his and I work with folks who are in the marginalized group(s) (gay/bi/queer, person of colour... etc.) who experienced discrimination and/or sexual and physical assault who wants to have more options to respond and understand themselves. Folks who feel that they oftentimes react out of proportion to the situation and experienced challenges to trust and build favourable relationships with others. Folks who want to gain some perspectives on their own strengths and resilience. My client demographic so far has only been with men or masculine identifying individuals.

I work with clients facing issues such as anxiety, trauma, and relationship concerns. I help people who may be feeling stuck, anxious, disconnected, or constantly 'on edge' learn effective coping strategies to manage their anxiety and calm their nervous system. I help people who have faced traumatic experiences in learning coping skills to heal and move forward. I help people-pleasers who have a tendency to put other's need before their own learn how to express their needs and set boundaries. I support individuals and couples in learning effective communication skills in order to connect deeper and live more authentically.

I was drawn to the role of therapist through my own transformative therapeutic and life journey. This life changing experience inspired me to first complete a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology in preparation for my Masters of Counselling degree. I have previously worked and supported people through the arts, not for profit and service sectors, with community at the core of my work. The constant threads being integrity, determination and connection. I believe my range of experiences has helped to expand my worldview and compassion for others.

I want to understand who you are and unpack the contents of your mind with you. When traumatic events or negative experiences aren’t processed, they can take shape in behaviour, habits, feelings, thoughts and relationship dynamics. I offer a therapeutic journey to disarm the loops in your mind and work towards loosening their grip in your life. Whether you're feeling anxious, jaded, overwhelmed, empty, frozen, or feel your experiences are embarrassing or shameful, I believe you are worthy and deserving of being met with acceptance, care and connection.

At the heart of this therapeutic practice is the idea that problems lie between you and others as opposed to within you. How do you relate to your loved ones, strangers, and the world at large? Questions such as these will help you understand not only what you could change in your life, but also how to change it. The cultivation of truth occurs through building lasting trust: This is the core of working effectively towards solutions and change together. A heart of non-judgment, encouragement, empowerment, and tools are provided so that you can work through trauma from the past as well as practice new ways of living in the world.

One of the greatest trials and rewards is to feel a sense of ease in your life and with who you are. If you’re here, it’s likely something is blocking you from this ease - trauma, anxiety, depression, or past relationships. While you may appear to have it all together, you know something is missing. Like many others, you might find it difficult to be vulnerable or lean on others, yet you face challenges in managing your emotions or experiences alone. Some days you may feel empty or numb, and at times worry, sadness or anger consume you for no apparent reason. You may feel alone and disconnected from others or who you once were.

Sometimes life feels very overwhelming and we can feel lost and disconnected, or even struggle with our self-worth. I work with couples and individuals who want to understand their behaviours and improve their communication and connection. You may struggle with your romantic relationships or friendships, or find yourself repeating the same patterns with different people in your life. Sometimes you feel anxious in your relationships, or don't feel connected at all. You may want to feel more at ease in your relationships with others and especially with yourself, experiencing less anxiety and feeling grounded when making decisions.

What therapy types help with codependency problems?

Both couples and family therapy and cognitive and behavioral therapy (CBT) can help with the relationship difficulties referred to as codependency. Such problems typically include inappropriate feelings of responsibility for a loved one’s destructive behavior, irrational patterns of thinking about such behavior, and family interaction patterns in which the needs of one troubled member override the needs of others in a household.

What happens in therapy for codependency?

Spouses and family members learn and practice how to interact and support each other in a healthy way without sacrificing their own needs or well-being. They learn the limits of their responsibility for their loved ones and correct faulty patterns of thinking and feeling that underlie codependent behavior. Individuals may be encouraged to nurture an array of social relationships and to cultivate their own talents and interests so that they develop a healthy sense of self outside the family.

How does therapy help a person or couple overcome codependency?

Therapy helps people establish healthy ways of being in a relationship. Spouses and family members learn how to nurture and support one another without sacrificing their own needs or allowing the needs of one person to dominate the dynamic. Individuals learn how to say no and set boundaries, and how to maintain their own identity and self-esteem. Therapy helps people understand that they are not responsible for the feelings and actions of others. It also helps individuals deal with the turbulence that can come from living with a person suffering from such conditions as substance abuse and mental illness.

What is the goal of therapy for codependency?

One goal of therapy for codependency is to alleviate feelings of responsibility for and correct irrational patterns of thinking about loved ones whose behavioral problems override the needs of others in a household. Therapy helps people establish healthy boundaries of behavior and speak up for their own needs in a relationship. In addition, people learn how to maintain a healthy relationship, one in which both parties give and receive equally and are able to retain their own identity.
