As you consider if therapy might be a supportive choice for you, it is possible that you are feeling alone and yearn for a more authentic connection with yourself and others. You might find that your emotions feel unpredictable, overwhelming or perhaps you feel disconnected from them altogether. I believe that we all have the capacity for healing and growth. Through connection to ourselves, our bodies, and our communities we can begin to undo experiences of aloneness and rebuild a sense of safety and ease. My role is to hold a space where you can show up just as you are, assured that you will be met with care and compassion.

My therapeutic approach is Holistic and an integration of therapeutic theories. I work with all the aspects that makes us human beings. We live in a society that traps us in our minds, disconnecting us from the rest of ourselves (body, heart, soul, intuition). I help with processing emotions, re-wiring the brain, healing the inner child, integration work, remembering how to listen to your body and its wisdom. Re-connecting to your heart and spirit and finding the truth of who you are, are the best tools that will help you fill the existential void we all struggle with.

You might be hesitating to reach out, worried that the challenges you face are to big to overcome, or that it's too late for you to experience true change and fulfillment. Facing these fears alone can make you feel trapped, powerless, and isolated, but you don’t have to do this alone. When we become consumed by unresolved losses or traumas, and the shame, challenges, and stress overwhelm us we can find ourselves engaging in behaviours, patterns, and substance use as a way to find temporary relief from life’s harsh realities, and we can lose sight of our strengths, aspirations, and even loved ones.

One of the most exciting aspects of life is that it is always changing, yet this can also be one of our biggest challenges. Change can be difficult as it can cause stress, uncertainty and confusion. It can make us question ourselves and others and may overwhelm us into inaction. I believe that having someone to talk to who will listen and guide you through these tough times is so helpful. I have gone through many phases in my own life and have found counselling very useful in helping me figure out for myself why I might be experiencing various emotions and how I might want to proceed.

I specialize in helping individuals and partners navigate the extra something that makes their relationship(s) a unique challenge. Folks I work with are often loving outside of the cisheteronormative & mononormative structure such as ethical non-monogamy, kink/BDSM, or other LGBTQ2S+ relationships. I also work with people whose experience of the world may be impacting their relationships, such as folks who are neurodivergent, individuals living with chronic illness or pain, or folks for whom trauma is showing up. I strive to help folks design the intentional relationships they are struggling to create on their own.

Is online therapy a good option?
Therapy conducted online or over the phone can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your postcode.
What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?
Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In Canada, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.
What type of therapist is right for me?
Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.
Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?
The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors. Many have been licensed by the country or province where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.
What type of therapy is right for me?
The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.
Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?
Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.
How much does therapy cost?
Some forms of mental health treatment (for example, seeing a psychiatrist, or seeing a psychologist in a government-funded hospital) are free under provincial health plans. Canadians who seek private counseling can typically expect to pay an average of $150 per session, although the actual price generally ranges between $100 and $3200 per session, depending on their location and the type of provider they select. Workplace benefits or private insurance plans often provide an annual counselling allowance, and some therapists offer sliding scale fees to clients who cannot pay full price.
