Combining my 14 year of experience as a therapist & medicine woman, I have developed a unique program of "ancestral de-armouring" (TM), somatic experiencing & touch therapy, Together, we will create lasting change that gets right to the roots of the struggles in your body and within your lineage.
Welcome!… I specialise in supporting Individual's & couple's to drop the defences & revolutionize your experience of intimacy & the quality of your relationships. Many of us did not have great role models of how to thrive in relationships growing up. Certain defence patterns may have been passed down intergenerationally that we aren't even aware of & don't know how to stop. Client's who work with me experience the kind of clarity that leads to changed behaviours.

We all find ourselves in moments where life feels hard. In these moments, we are called upon to explore our soft spots. It is in these spots that we can find flexibility. I have been working with adolescents and their families for over 20 years as a Canadian Certified Counsellor and as an experienced educator in the school system. My therapeutic approach is to offer support and guidance through kindness, compassion, empathy and a dash of good humour. I offer teletherapy counselling across BC and welcome all folks. In particular, I am passionate about working with people who identify as Queer and their families.

Are you holding it together on the outside but on the inside it feels VERY different? Do you feel gripped by anxiety, self-doubt, anger, fear, or numbness? Having thoughts that you are not enough, or too much, or that you should be perfect? There is a reason this is happening. I believe change happens through compassionate accompaniment in intentionally held spaces that allow us to explore and integrate parts of ourselves that are causing inner tensions. Through an accepting and supportive environment therapy helps to regulate emotion and promote lasting change.

The people I work with often tell me they experience intense, difficult emotions that are hard to control, often leading to harmful coping behaviours and relationship turmoil. Taking a behavioural approach, we work together to develop strategies and tools that support a more fulfilling life—what is referred to in DBT as a "life experienced as worth living.” Wellness tools and strategies we use are informed by DBT, ACT, CBT, mindfulness, and narrative therapy, but I believe it is the trusting and supportive relationship we build that forms the foundation upon which this challenging yet rewarding work is done.

I'm Sasha - a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) with a Master’s Degree in Counselling Psychology (MEd) from SFU. I know first hand that it can get confusing and overwhelming, paralyzing and terrifying, to just be with yourself, in your own head; that's why I'm called to help.
Trauma-informed, Narrative, and Emotion Focused Therapy are at the core of my services, because I believe that all behaviour comes from somewhere learned; understanding the impact of your unique experiences it the first step in making change towards more value- aligned behaviours, and ultimately a life lived with more ease.

Female Counsellors
Does it matter what gender my therapist is?
In general, there is no relationship between a therapist’s gender and their efficacy. Some clients, however, prefer to see therapists of a particular gender, whether due to their own past experiences with men and women, or because they feel more comfortable with a therapist of their own gender due to shared life experiences or perspectives. Considering what one wants to address in therapy can help someone determine whether their therapist’s gender may matter or improve their therapeutic experience. The most important consideration is that a client is able to build a trusting relationship with their therapist.
Should I see a female therapist?
Many people—not just women—prefer to see a female therapist. For women, this could be because they believe that they will be able to better connect with a woman, and that a female therapist will be able to relate to their specific challenges and personal issues. It may be particularly beneficial for women to see a female therapist, for example, for gender-specific issues, such as sexism in the workplace, relationship issues, and gender roles. The most important factor in therapy is the client-therapist connection, and a therapist's gender as well as many other factors may play an important role in this.
Do therapists get specific training to help with women’s concerns?
Therapists are trained to provide care to clients of any gender. However, some therapists may pursue additional training in feminist therapy, gender-specific issues, or women’s mental health. Female clients may wish to ask prospective therapists whether they have received specific training in the client’s primary area(s) of concern, or whether they have worked extensively with women on issues similar to their own.
How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience in treating women?
It’s OK—even encouraged!—to ask a therapist directly whether and how often they have treated women in the past, or whether they have treated women dealing with the client’s most prominent concern(s). Competent therapists will be happy to share their educational background, preferred treatment modalities, and prior client experience to help an individual find the therapist best suited to their needs.
