My purpose and my passion is to help you fully remember who and what you truly are! The beautiful, perfect soul you are, prior to all the programming and conditioning that's had you believing that you're just "not good enough". This "not good enough" nonsense, is nothing more than an indoctrinated/brainwashed belief. It is at the root cause of all pain and trauma. It underlies all of humanity's suffering. It is indeed, the real pandemic on this planet. It has infected entirely all of us. It is the greatest, most ridiculous most asinine lie that has ever been sold to humanity! My job and my joy is to help you heal from this insanity.

I approach counselling from a lens that is grounded in the continued practice of anti-racism, disability justice, queer theory, sex positivity, and that recognizes the systemic violence that has, and continues to, harm us and impact our experiences in the world, and inside ourselves. The main niche of folks that I have had the honour of working with over the years have been queer and trans folks, sex workers, disabled folks, non-traditional relationship networks, kink and bdsm communities, BIPOC folks, folks navigating complex trauma, and those living at the intersections of many of these identities.

I believe every human has the capacity to change and this change takes time. In life, we go through highs and lows, and at times the lows seem difficult to overcome. Through therapy, we give ourselves a chance to overcome hardships and find strength within ourselves, bringing forth a lifetime of positive change. I provide compassionate care with the aim of guiding and empowering individuals as they work towards healing. I create a safe, non-judgmental, relaxed, and supportive environment.

As a counsellor, I'm passionate about helping people overcome challenges and achieve their goals. Working with individuals that are motivated and determined to make positive changes in their lives. They may be struggling with anxiety, depression, substance use, trauma, or other mental health concerns that impact their day-to-day functioning. Individuals looking to reduce symptoms of distress, improve their relationships, increase self-awareness, develop coping skills, or find a greater sense of purpose. Therapy is a way for them to gain insight, and develop effective strategies for difficult emotions or situations.

Seeking support is sign of courageousness and strength. When we face challenging times, difficult emotions can leave us feeling alone and overwhelmed. Ideally, such times are opportunities to deepen our understanding of ourselves and of the lessons that have been presented to us. This path is a process of expressing our feelings, exploring our inner lives, and discovering our true and authentic natures. I believe that our well-being is rooted within us, although finding it can be complex therefore making growth difficult to experience.

Relationships can give us purpose and joy, but they can also be complicated and uncomfortable. This can be especially true for women: many of us put extra care into tending and repairing relationships, which can leave us feeling lonely and frustrated. You may be craving care, acceptance, and belonging. Instead, you may be feeling stuck, discouraged, overwhelmed, emotionally drained, and questioning if things will ever be different. Whether you’re feeling this way in your romantic, friendship, parenting, or family relationships, please know that you’re not alone.

Providing a felt sense of ease and presence, attuned listening and a container for deep work are my offerings to you. The symptoms we experience (like anxiety and depression) are often due to unresolved traumatic stress in the body. By slowly and gently tracking sensation, movement impulses and images we learn to listen to what our body is telling us, and we return to who we truly are. We begin by exploring what is and is not working in your daily life and relationships, and what you are noticing in your body, thoughts, and feelings.

Is online therapy a good option?
Therapy conducted online or over the phone can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your postcode.
What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?
Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In Canada, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.
What type of therapist is right for me?
Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.
Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?
The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors. Many have been licensed by the country or province where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.
What type of therapy is right for me?
The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.
Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?
Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.
How much does therapy cost?
Some forms of mental health treatment (for example, seeing a psychiatrist, or seeing a psychologist in a government-funded hospital) are free under provincial health plans. Canadians who seek private counseling can typically expect to pay an average of $150 per session, although the actual price generally ranges between $100 and $3200 per session, depending on their location and the type of provider they select. Workplace benefits or private insurance plans often provide an annual counselling allowance, and some therapists offer sliding scale fees to clients who cannot pay full price.
