Everyone wants to live a life that is satisfying and free from suffering, yet many of us suffer and struggle in silence. In my 10 years of practice, I have worked with numerous clients to break free from the struggle of addiction, habitual behaviours, and obsessive thinking patterns. I have come to understand the nuances and complex nature of body image, body dysmorphia, self-esteem, and
anxiety
. I work collaboratively with my clients to create goals that are attainable and create lasting change in their lives. My clients know I will challenge them to push themselves outside of their comfort zone; to reach their ideal life.

I specialize in the treatment of
anxiety
, phobias, depression, emotional instability, family-, relationship- and work-related problems.
Would you be interested in finding out how your seemingly irrational thoughts, feelings and actions do make perfect sense taking into account your state of mind at a given point in time and under certain circumstances? That could ease your worries and give you proper comfort to practice mindfulness -- moment-to-moment awareness of your experiences without attachment to any particular point of view. You would reach then clarity of mind and lightness. I would help you develop awareness in the course of insight-oriented therapy. I could also provide action-oriented therapy by making suggestions and jointly designing strategies.

anxiety
issues.
My ideal client is someone who is not meeting their goals in spite of their ongoing effort. They suspect that they might be sabotaging or undermining themselves in some way but they don't know how specifically. The distress that they experience is motivation enough for them to be willing to try something different than the strategies and approaches they've typically used. It helps if they are psychologically minded and are willing to look at their mind sets.

I consult with adults who are successful in many ways, but feel unsatisfied with some aspect of their life. While the circumstances that lead someone to make an appointment varies, there are a number of symptoms that many people identify with, including: •
Anxiety
• Low mood • Feeling bad about yourself • Relationships are frustrating and disappointing. • Feeling caught in past traumatic or upsetting experiences • Struggling with ineffective coping.

I work with clients who want to find relief from their struggles with the following: depression,
anxiety
, anger, grief and loss, worthlessness, despair, disordered eating, life/work transitions, addiction (substances, pornography and gambling), and the negative impact of sexism, racism, homophobia, transphobia, and poverty. Often in the beginning, people come in feeling overwhelmed and frustrated and may be clearer initially of what isn't working for them or what they no longer want in their life. What are the most common treatments for anxiety?
Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioural therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other popular forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioural Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.
How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?
The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.
When should I seek treatment for anxiety?
Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.
How effective is treatment for anxiety?
Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
