Anxiety,
depression
, and addictions are symptoms that can be understood.
Before becoming a psychotherapist, I was a practicing physician for 15 years. My Clinical counselling services include Individual, Couples, Family, Addictions, and Immigration issues. I have counselled and motivated individuals to recognize and understand personal needs, problems, alternatives and goals, using a combination of practical problem solving skills and an empathic approach to counselling, successfully helping overcome severe depressions or anxieties. Your therapy sessions with me will be a journey to discover who you are, what you want and what has gotten in the way of achieving your goals. We will work towards improving your daily life. https://gabrielpatrichcounselling.com/

Do you feel stressed or anxious in your life or overwhelmed in your daily struggles; or feel stuck and
depressed
? It's known connecting well with a therapist is an important factor for success, so I spend more than one hour at first sessions, at reduced rate, or you can come for 15 minutes without charge. This creates good initial rapport and a better understanding of your problems. I'm well trained & experienced to help you deal with your problem. I work with individuals using cognitive therapy mixed with common sense from my life experience as a wife and mother.

We all face challenges in life. Some we can work through on our own or with help from friends or family. Others require more support. Taking that first step to seek counselling can be difficult. I have been told that I am a warm, non-judgmental and down-to-earth person. You may be suffering from anxiety that is keeping you awake at night or feelings of
depression
that can make it hard to get up. Events from the past may be holding you back. You may be grieving a loss or at a crossroads in life that requires a difficult decision. I believe each person has many strengths and is capable of making changes to live a fulfilled life.

Do you feel distressed but don't understand why? Have you tried different methods and it only helped a little but never get ahead? Have you ever wondered what the core issue is? Working with me might find you those answers. A lot of people ask who gets counselling, I believe that anyone who experiences stress could get a therapist; however, many have amazing family and friends that allow them to bounce ideas, inspire motivation, and provides insight so counselling really isn't needed. Most people wait till they are in crisis to get help which would mean a rough journey to baseline. Let's be preventative rather than reactionary.

As both a therapist and a researcher, I aim to address the dynamic and lived experiences of those who may be struggling with a history of trauma, sexual distress or intimacy-related concerns. I often work with individuals who present well on the surface, seem completely put together when they want to be, and whose problems are not always apparent to others. While things might appear to be going well on the outside, privately they are hurting. Sometimes the source of distress is clearly known, other times it has yet to be discovered.

If you send a message, please check your junk/spam folder for my reply - sometimes they end up there! I provide counselling in the following areas: trauma,
depression
, anxiety, desire for personal change and growth, relationship concerns, communication, grief.
I understand the difficulty of reaching out to a complete stranger to share your most personal issues. But I believe in my work and know that counselling can be incredibly effective at creating positive change and growth. With the right counsellor, we can better understand our own patterns and behaviours and how they impact our daily lives and relationships. In my practice, I use trauma-informed, evidence-based, and relational approaches that I believe will best suit each individual client. More importantly, my clients tell me that I quickly earn their trust, making them feel heard, validated, and safe.

If you are on this page, that means there is a part of you that is looking to healing and living life more fully.
Depression
, anxiety, trauma and other emotional struggles take away from the joys of everyday life. It might be hard to find the motivation to get out of bed in the mornings. Where you used to enjoy activities with loved ones, you might feel numb , disconnected or overwhelmed with anxiety. You may even find yourself stuck in unhealthy relationships or engaging in behaviors that just don’t feel right. Sometimes, emotions such as anger or anxiety can go from 0 to 100 in a matter of seconds and you may feel "stuck".

I work with clients who are tired of feeling anxious, stressed, and/or
depressed
; who want to silence that inner-critic, build their self esteem, improve their relationships, and take charge of their lives.
I believe one of the most courageous things you can do is take control of your healing. I admire you for taking this first step because I know how challenging it can be. My goal is to meet you where you are at in life and offer you the support you truly need and are ready for. Together we will help you develop new insights and achieve break-through moments to move forward. You will feel heard, understood, and have the support you need to process your emotions and memories, while developing the coping mechanisms you need to find your relief and achieve the changes you are looking for.
Depression Counsellors
Depressive disorders are characterized by persistent feelings of sadness and worthlessness and a lack of desire to engage in formerly pleasurable activities. Depression is not a passing blue mood, which almost everyone experiences from time to time, but a complex mind/body illness that interferes with everyday functioning. It not only darkens one's outlook, it is commonly marked by sleep problems and changes in energy levels and appetite. It alters the structure and function of nerve cells so that it disrupts the way the brain processes information and interprets experience.
Despite feelings of hopelessness and worthlessness, depression is a treatable condition. It can be treated with psychotherapy. As with many illnesses, the earlier treatment begins, the more effective it can be and the greater the likelihood that recurrence can be prevented.
Psychotherapy addresses the thinking patterns that precipitate depression, and studies show that it prevents recurrence. Drug therapy is often helpful in relieving symptoms, such as severe anxiety, so that people can engage in meaningful psychotherapy.
