Male Therapists in Trail, BC
I help clients move through life's difficulties . When relationships change, when we feel stuck in habits that take us away from what we really want. When we recognize the need to make peace with those aspects of the past that are holding us back from the life we wish to live . As a body-centred therapist working with trauma, I help you access the wisdom of your body, and learn how to reclaim a deeper calm, self regulated state, where you can update the limiting beliefs and emotional reactivity that often prevents the full expression of your potential. Our thoughts and thinking rarely give us a clear picture of the world

Life is a beautiful mess, sometimes a little more messy than beautiful. Are you feeling stressed out, anxious or a little depressed and overwhelmed? Perhaps you are beginning to identify patterns in your life that are preventing you from living more fully and beautifully. You are beginning to imagine that a healthier more joy-filled life is possible but you feel anchored to certain messy patterns or painful memories that leave you feeling stuck. Facing this alone can be overwhelming but real, lasting change and healing is possible when you journey with someone in a trusting and safe relationship.

The most expensive thing a high-performing man can do is neglect his marriage.
I work with founders, executives, and family business owners who have built something significant - and are realizing the family carrying that legacy forward matters as much as the wealth itself.
I am a Registered Therapeutic Counsellor, Amazon bestselling author, and Strategic Advisor to high-net-worth families. My approach is rooted in masculine formation and psychodynamic depth.
I am not a generic couples therapist. I work at the intersection of marriage, leadership, and legacy.

We are experiencing a paradigm shift in how we view, treat, and resolve mental health complexities. It is no longer sufficient to simply learn about our traumas and understand their origins to expect resolution. We are now approaching trauma from a psychobiological perspective, recognizing that trauma is physically embedded in the cells and tissues of our bodies. By developing our felt sense of these traumas, bringing focused attention to them, and utilizing somatic techniques, trauma resolution becomes achievable.

I help people transform fear into excitement so they can enjoy the roller coaster of life.
What if anxiety and excitement feel identical in the body? The difference is the story we tell ourselves. You're not broken — you have a busy, brilliant mind that worries too much. I learned this at age seven on my first roller coaster: the same pounding heart transformed from terror into exhilaration the moment the ride began. That experience never left me.
Anxiety makes the uncontrollable feel urgent and the changeable feel impossible. Our work is learning the difference: what can change with effort, and what calls for radical acceptance.

I work with adults, couples, and adolescents who are navigating emotional distress, relationship and communication difficulties, addictions or habit change, stress and trauma, grief, life transitions, and matters of faith or spirituality. Some arrive with a clearly defined concern; others with a more general sense of unease or disorientation. In either case, the work often involves careful attention to inner experience, patterns of thought and behaviour, and the broader contexts in which these concerns arise.

As a generalist, my intention is to provide broad service. I am currently employed as a college instructor, so I enjoy working with adolescent and early adult age people who may be dealing with anxiety or depression, or who find themselves stuck in making important life decisions. Also, one of my previous jobs was as a welder for CP Rail. So I am familiar with the very real issues faced in everyday work life. My training also includes family and couples therapy. Because I believe that we do not do well in isolation, helping individuals and families deal with the intricacies of family life is a vital to aspect of my practice.

FAQ - Therapist Gender
As a man, why might I want to see a male therapist?
There are many reasons a man might wish to work with a male therapist, including a degree of shared identity, which may help client and therapist connect to each other and allow for a more free-flowing discussion of issues that can be deeply personal. Some men may feel more comfortable talking to a male therapist about relationship concerns, the pressures they feel around the roles society and family place on men, career or job challenges, self-esteem, or anger problems. For some men who have not had a male role models in their lives, a good male therapist may be especially helpful.
How can I find out about a therapist’s experience treating men?
Individuals looking for treatment should feel comfortable directly asking a therapist about their history treating men overall and the issues that arise in therapy with men. A good therapist will be happy to discuss such matters as well as their educational background, approach to treatment, and how they think they can aid a prospective client.
Can clients benefit from having a therapist of the same gender?
Therapy is not gender-specific, but some men as well as women feel more comfortable opening up about their experiences and history with therapists of a specific gender. An individual may feel that they have to explain less background information and be on the same page more quickly, particularly when discussing gender-specific challenges. That said, a good clinician can transcend most if not all gender concerns. Ultimately, the most important factor in therapy is the connection and trust the client is able to build with the practitioner.
Would a male therapist have specific training in treating men?
Generally, no. There are no certifications for treating men specifically, but there are continuing education classes that therapists may take that focus on treating men as a group. There are many therapists who focus on men and male issues in their treatment and therefore have experience and expertise in this domain.
