I have experience working with special needs families facing a wide range of parenting challenges, grief and end-of-life transitions, as well as the ongoing impacts of trauma.
Life is hard. Sometimes it is completely overwhelming. We all need a place that feels safe, a person that is unconditionally on our side, and help to untangle our own thoughts and emotions. I can do that. Together we will find a way to move you toward the life you want and the person you hope to become.

Sometimes life feels like you’re carrying a backpack full of invisible weights. Anxiety, past experiences, expectations, that make even small steps feel heavy. Therapy can be the place to set that backpack down, take a breath, and figure out which weights to unpack first. I aim to create a space that feels alive, safe, and curious, where you can explore your experiences honestly and discover what moves you toward a more grounded, fulfilling life.

Dandelion Counselling offers a creative, safe and containing space to explore thoughts and feelings. To be effective, it is not about what I 'do', but, what I can 'be' for the client: meeting wherever you may be in life and gently & empathically co-creating a therapeutic relationship. I am trained in integrative psychotherapeutic counselling with an interest in attachment and developmental trauma. This allows us to move beyond behaviour modification into an biopsychosocial psychotherapeutic understanding of what is happening. The insights from these fields can support a shift to a life where we 'respond' rather than 'react'.

I support individuals navigating grief, emotional heaviness, and feeling disconnected from themselves.
I began this path after seeing how often people felt unseen and unheard, slowly losing touch with the parts of themselves that once felt alive. I believe each person has a light within them, even when it feels buried beneath anxiety, rumination, and the pressures of everyday life. I want to help you find your way back to that light, reconnect with it gently, and allow the world to feel brighter again.

I provide therapy for first responders and individuals who have experienced grief and trauma.
I try to help individuals find their inner worth and strengths. I believe that people can continue to learn, grow and change. It is important for you to feel comfortable with the therapist you decide to see. One of the things that I value the most within therapy is the importance of building an honest and genuine relationship. I try to meet people where they are at and offer services from a strengths-based and positive approach.

Grief Counsellors
How long does therapy take for grief?
There is no exact timeline for grief counseling. Some people may start to feel better after just a few sessions, while others may take months or longer to feel relief. Some specific approaches, including some types of CBT, may involve a set number of sessions, or therapy may be open-ended until the patient determines they are ready to wrap up. Just as there is no right or wrong way to grieve, there is no right or wrong way to seek therapy for grief.

When should you seek therapy for grief?
Many people mistakenly believe that their grief needs to be debilitating or all-encompassing to warrant therapy. This is not the case. While people who experience severe, prolonged grief—particularly those who are considering self-harm or engaging in unhealthy substance use—are especially likely to benefit from therapy, so too are people whose grief is less intense but still interfering with well-being or daily functioning. In practice, almost anyone struggling to process a loss could benefit from grief counseling.

Can grief be managed without therapy?
Oftentimes, yes. Grief is a near-universal part of being human, and many find that their grief, while profound, does not stop them from participating in day-to-day life and steadily eases over time without outside help. For others, however, the harsh pain of early grief persists for months or years or leaves them unable to function. This group is especially likely to benefit from seeing a therapist, who can guide them through their grief and help them reconnect with the world.

What happens if grief is left untreated?
Because grief does not in itself necessitate therapy, untreated grief will often resolve on its own. However, for some people—particularly those who would qualify for a diagnosis of prolonged grief disorder—untreated grief can be a source of seemingly endless pain or lead them to withdraw from the world. In such cases, treatment can be indispensable, as it can help an individual adapt to the loss and start living again.
