I have ADHD and am a parent to an autistic teen and an ADHD teen.
You will hear me say progress, not perfection - a lot! This isn't about big, sweeping changes. It takes time, practice, and patience. I know, I know...patience is a tricky one! So we will also talk about self-compassion and ways to remember why you want to make changes.

You may be managing ADHD and the pressure to stay organized, navigating anxiety that never seems to quiet, or noticing anger and frustration show up in ways you don’t want.
My approach is trauma-informed, and grounded in emotions and attachment. As a South Asian woman, I understand the weight of cultural expectations, family roles, and identity. Many clients tell me they don’t want to explain their cultural background in therapy - so I welcome these conversations and hold space for both your values and your individuality.

I help people quiet their inner critic and relate to themselves with more compassion — so they can show up fully in their work, relationships, and goals. My clients learn to manage their overwhelming emotions, voice their needs, and have access to a safe space to process all the stuff going on in their head. My trauma-informed approach always has the nervous system in mind, so I offer body-based tools for self regulation as well as practical strategies based in attachment science.

To truly understand and identify the intricate patterns in our thoughts and behaviors, we must move beyond the confines of diagnostic labels. These labels can obscure the richness of the human experience. By embracing a high degree of curiosity, intrigue, and empathy, we can together challenge these limitations and uncover the hidden and often uncomfortable truths that lie just beneath the surface, causing us distress.

I am currently a Master’s level MA in Counselling Psychology practicum student who is qualified to practice onsite under the clinical supervision of an approved practicum Supervisor. I bring the qualities of warmth, compassion, and a profound respect for the human experience with me as a first-generation Filipino person nearing the end of my counselling internship. During my training, I've learned how effective it can be to just provide a safe space for someone to share their story—one that is free of expectations, pressure, or judgment.

When should I seek treatment for ADHD?

You should seek treatment for ADHD if you consistently have difficulty with attention, hyperactivity, or impulsivity that interferes with your daily life. Symptoms of ADHD include the inability to sustain attention during tasks, difficulty organizing tasks and activities, being easily distracted, frequent fidgeting or squirming, and talking or interrupting excessively. If these symptoms interfere with your career, academics, or relationships—for example, consistently failing to complete professional projects on time—you should seek an evaluation for ADHD.

How does treatment for ADHD work?

Effective treatment for ADHD often consists of medication, behavioral therapy, and lifestyle changes. Stimulant medications such as Adderall and Ritalin work by altering levels of neurotransmitters in the brain; higher levels of dopamine and norepinephrine are known to improve attention and focus. Therapy works by helping people with ADHD understand the condition, discuss their areas of difficulty, and develop behavioral strategies to manage their symptoms. In some cases, modifying one’s diet and exercise can also help improve symptoms.

Are there specific medications for ADHD?

Medications to treat ADHD are generally stimulants, the most common are Adderall and Ritalin. There are two categories of stimulants: Amphetamines include Adderall, Dyanavel, Vyvanse, and Dexedrine, and methylphenidates include Ritalin, Concerta, Daytrana, Focalin, Quillichew, Quillivant, and Metadate. Non-stimulants and antidepressants may be used as an alternative if stimulants aren’t effective or viable for a particular patient.

How long does treatment for ADHD take?

It’s tough to give an exact time frame because everyone varies. In terms of medications, stimulants begin to work very soon after you take them, generally within the hour. It may take time to identify the right medication and dosage, but the medication itself is fast-acting. In terms of therapy, it takes time to develop skills and put them into practice, but you will likely see improvements within a few weeks or months.
