Somatic Therapists in Sechelt, BC
I also integrate a somatic, mind-body perspective, recognizing how our nervous systems, emotions, and lived experiences are deeply interconnected.
So... you've become really good at pushing things down, staying busy, or convincing yourself you're fine. (Spoiler: it usually catches up with us. If you're here, there's a good chance it already has.) Therapy here isn't about nodding for 50 minutes while you do all the talking. We'll get curious about what's keeping you stuck, gently challenge the stories that no longer serve you, and make sense of them together.
This is a space where you can slow down and be fully yourself, messy parts included. Swearing about life is 100% allowed, humour is encouraged, and there's no need to filter yourself here.

Together, we'll explore the patterns beneath what you're experiencing, often rooted in attachment and nervous system responses, using both practical tools and somatic awareness to help you build lasting self-trust and inner safety.
You've been feeling overwhelmed, anxious, and disconnected from yourself, unsure how to move forward. I support women in slowing down, understanding what's beneath the overwhelm, and reconnecting with themselves.

I am an EMDR-trained and IFS-informed clinician, drawing from parts work, attachment theory, and somatic approaches.
My therapy approach is relational and collaborative. Feeling comfortable and connected is when therapy is most effective. My goal is to support you to understand yourself and what you need; to come back home to yourself. I tend to work with folks who aren’t feeling satisfied with their quality of life. This may show up as perfectionism, lack of motivation, hyper-independence, people pleasing tendencies, imposter syndrome etc. I have experience working in healthcare, not for profit, and private settings.

No one ever said it’s easy being a thinking, feeling, spiritual being. You are not alone in feeling anxious, depressed, grieved, angry or disconnected in a relationship. Most of what troubles us is caused by a perceived need to protect ourselves from injury. Fortunately, we all have resources for healing. In a compassionate and safe environment, I enable you to adopt an accepting, compassionate, and curious relationship with your emotions and behaviours. With this foundation, we become agents of our own renewal. We steer our ship with confidence and vision, even when the seas are tossing and turning.

Working in an integrative fashion, I often rely on existential, narrative, and somatic-based therapies.
I envision life as a journey that is influenced by our experiences, our relationships with others, and our personal, societal, and cultural stories. As a therapist, I believe my role is to join you on your journey for a stretch, as a kind of wilderness guide who may be able to point out unrecognized phenomena, different perspectives, and highlight your strengths and values as they relate to your journey. The goals and direction are yours, and together, we will create a plan that's right for you. Coming to counselling is hugely courageous; I commend you on beginning your search for a therapist who will be a good fit for your goals.

Feeling overwhelmed, stuck, unsure of your next steps, or experiencing grief, anxiety, or depression is a natural response to an intense world. You’re not alone, even if it sometimes feels that way. I walk alongside you and support your therapeutic process through verbal and optional arts-based creative exploration. This approach can support adults seeking personal growth or emotional support, as well as children and youth – including those who may be neurodivergent or have difficulty expressing themselves verbally – during times of transition, family change, or everyday challenges.

Working with all of your “little parts" to rebuild your relationship to self. I offer support through a trauma-informed, holistic, and attachment-focused lens, integrating somatic therapy, parts work, and Emotion-Focused Therapy.

My approach blends neuro-affirming, trauma - sensitive, compassionate present moment awareness, somatic parts work & depth psychology.
Beyond the words, beyond our personal/transpersonal stories we carry, our individual, collective and ancestral experiences encoded in our patterning. This is why experiential therapies are so effective, especially when healing from complex & early trauma. To remember your wholeness is to heal. There is a deep wisdom to tap into to support that re-membering.

My approach is warm, collaborative, and trauma-informed, grounded in nervous system science and authentic human connection, and informed by Somatic Experiencing, parts work, and ACT.
Life in the world today can feel overwhelming. That’s a reasonable response, especially with complex trauma, attachment struggles, or when you’re exhausted from pushing through, overthinking, caretaking, or holding everything together. You may feel stuck in old patterns, dysregulated, disconnected from your body, or unsure how to move forward despite the insight you have.
I work with adults who feel deeply and think deeply; seekers, outsiders and cycle-breakers navigating trauma, anxiety, burnout, relationship struggles, or the lingering effects of growing up without enough safety, support, or space to fully be themselves.

We offer narrative therapy, motivational interviewing, somatic therapy, mindfulness, and secular Buddhist psychology.
We all have things we’ve been told about ourselves that we internalize and start telling ourselves. Do you struggle with a story or belief about yourself that holds you back? Does this cause you some stress, loneliness, conflict in your relationships, or even lead you into misusing alcohol or substances? Now, more than ever, a lot of us are feeling disconnected from others and under the spell of negative stories about ourselves. In my practice, my team and I believe that these stories can be rewritten, that we are each the author of our own lives.

Hello and welcome. I'm Sarah, my practice is focused on individual adults. I support people who are seeking space to reflect, understand their patterns, and develop steadier ways of coping. Curiosity and self-inquiry are key parts of this work — they help you explore your inner world and make meaningful shifts at your own pace.
I work with clients seeking support with a variety of concerns in addition to specific supports with neurodivergence and perimenopause support. I also work with veterans, first responders and journalists — people who often carry complex stories of responsibility, resilience, and moral strain.

Life doesn’t always unfold the way we imagined. Transitions, relationships, and the ups and downs of our inner world can leave you feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or questioning your direction. You may find yourself in familiar relationship patterns, feeling anxious beneath the surface, or noticing patterns like overthinking, people-pleasing, or struggling to set boundaries, even when you know something needs to change. Part of you understands what’s happening, but another part still feels stuck. Together, we’ll look at the patterns underneath what you’re experiencing, not just the symptoms, so change feels meaningful and lasting.

How does somatic therapy work?
Somatic therapy is a form of treatment that focuses on how the body and mind are interconnected. In this approach, physical symptoms are addressed because they may in fact signal emotional distress. Somatic therapists combine mindfulness, talk therapy, breathwork, yoga, dance, and physical manipulations of the body to help patients become more attuned to what their body is telling them.
Is EMDR a somatic therapy?
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a form of somatic therapy, as it incorporates mental and physical principles. EMDR involves remembering a traumatic experience while allowing one’s eyes to track a side-to-side visual stimulus from a therapist. This lateral eye movement is believed to diminish the painful power of the memory so that it can be discussed with a therapist.
Is somatic therapy evidence-based?
Somatic therapy has been researched and studied, and some forms of somatic therapy are found to be effective in treating a wide range of conditions. Because somatic therapy encompasses many techniques, some, such as EMDR and meditation, have been studied more than others.
What is somatic trauma therapy?
Somatic trauma therapy is based on the idea that when people experience trauma, they can become stuck in the “freeze” part of a “fight, flight, or freeze” response. In this state, trauma can manifest itself both mentally and physically—through tension in the muscles, anxiety, and stress. Popular forms of somatic trauma therapy include EMDR, sensorimotor therapy, and somatic experiencing.
