Sometimes, the challenges you face are too complex for words alone. You might feel stuck, overwhelmed, or disconnected from yourself. Perhaps it feels like different parts of you are in conflict and you are looking for a way to untangle these feelings, find clarity, and reclaim a sense of inner peace. You need a space where you don’t have to carry this burden in isolation, and where your struggles are met with curiosity rather than judgment.

While seeking counselling is often stigmatized, even more so in Asian culture, this action in fact demonstrates your insight and strength. We all face a variety of challenges in life – some may be addressed independently, often times a little support would go a long way. As a registered social worker with clinical experience in counselling, my practice aims to be both therapeutic and practical – I start where the client is. We will work collaboratively to explore your goals, strengths, challenges and the systems which are contributory.

Not all grief is immediately visible or fully recognized by others. Some forms of loss may be minimized or go unacknowledged, which can make the experience feel especially isolating. These may include: loss of a pet, a bond that can be deeply meaningful; changes in health or physical ability, including recovery from motor vehicle accidents; the end of a relationship; and major life transitions. All of these experiences are valid, and support is available to help you navigate them with compassion, understanding, and care.

Many of my clients feel stuck in patterns they don’t fully understand—such as anxiety, emotional overwhelm, self-criticism, or difficulty in relationships. They may appear capable on the outside but feel disconnected or burdened inside. Deep down, they want clarity, inner calm, and a stronger sense of self, so they can live with more confidence, authenticity, and emotional freedom.

Do you feel overwhelmed, stuck, or disconnected from yourself or others? Are you carrying the weight of anxiety, low mood, past experiences, or ongoing stress that feels hard to manage alone? Adolescents, teens, and adults may struggle with the impacts of trauma, addiction, or systemic challenges, leaving them unsure where to begin. Wanting a space to feel heard, supported, and understood is natural. You don’t have to have everything figured out to begin moving toward clarity, balance, and connection.

If you find yourself feeling scattered and overwhelmed, wanting to make changes in your life but not sure how, we may be a good fit for each other. My ideal client is someone who is thoughtful and self-aware, yet stuck—held back by anxiety, perfectionism, self-doubt, or the weight of other people’s expectations. They may be going through a major life transition, navigating a relationship shift, or simply realizing that the ways they've been coping no longer feel sustainable. They want to feel more like themselves again, or maybe discover who that self really is for the first time.

Marriage Counselling Counsellors
How does marriage counseling work?
Marriage counseling works by teaching couples concrete skills to communicate with one another and solve disagreements in healthy ways. A trained mental health professional works with both members of a couple to explore difficulties the couple may be having and helps them develop skills to address these matters. Couples who don’t have any difficulties but want to prepare for marriage may develop skills for the future.

How long does marriage counseling typically last?
Marriage counseling is a short-term form of therapy; the process may last between four and eight sessions. Other forms of relationship guidance from mental health professionals, such as couples therapy, are longer lasting, may focus on the past rather than just the present, and are tailored to the individual couple and their emotions, history, and patterns in the relationship. Couples therapy often lasts for 12 weeks or longer.

Is marriage counseling effective?
Marriage counseling helps many couples develop relationship skills that may not have been acquired or tested in a relationship; partners may be better able to communicate and address conflict following counseling. However, there are many different forms of marriage counseling, and this form of counseling does not have as strong an evidence base as other modalities such as couples therapy.

Is marriage counseling effective if only one partner wants to go?
Yes, marriage counseling can still be effective if one partner convinces the other to engage in the process. Of course, whether counseling is effective depends on the couple’s commitment to work on their relationship; however, the short-term, skills-based nature of marriage counseling makes it a relatively easy “ask” of a partner, and the hesitant individual may see its value once counseling begins.
