My practice is assessment-focused and I work with individuals who are curious about understanding themselves more deeply. Many clients come to explore their learning profile, better understand their strengths and challenges, or uncover neurodivergence such as ADHD, autism, learning disabilities, or giftedness. I offer comprehensive, compassionate therapeutic assessments that are written directly to you in clear, understandable language. My approach is strengths-focused and collaborative, helping clients and families leave with greater clarity, self-understanding, and practical recommendations to move forward.

Reaching out for help with a problem can be very intimidating! It may help you to know that our work together will always be based upon YOUR values and goals and a shared understanding of the problem. I use cognitive-behavioral and mindfulness-based methods to help people who struggle with unpleasant feelings, problem behaviors, or under-functioning. I'm a huge fan of ACT Therapy, which helps you to notice and disentangle from unhelpful thoughts, notice and accept diffiuclt feelings, orient to the present moment and commit to actions that move you towards what you want in life - towards your values!

My goal as a counsellor is to provide a warm and safe environment for clients which will allow them to develop a feeling of effectiveness and an ability to cope with life's challenges. This will allow them to identify their personal goals and maximize their potential. I have been working with children, adolescents and families for over 20 years. I have an extensive understanding of the BC school system and the factors which influence a student's emotional, social and academic well being. I am also well trained and very experienced working with adults - individuals and couples.

Are you looking for practical and empathetic help for depression, panic, social anxiety, post-traumatic stress, or OCD? I specialize in the treatment of these issues using cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), a highly effective evidence-based approach. However, I don't just focus on therapy technique: having a solid relationship and a trusting working alliance with any therapist is key to productive change. In addition to therapy, I conduct diagnostic, personality, and career assessments. I confidentially counsel clients all over BC online and in-person at my Port Moody office.

I have been practicing as a Clinical and Forensic Psychologist in B.C. for 43 years. I was previously the Senior Psychologist at the Vancouver Health Dept. and the Director of Psychology at VGH (Shaughnessy). I was a consultant to the Family Justice Counselling Service (BC Attorney General) for 10 years and the National Parole Board of Canada. My clients these days see me primarily for parenting and post-separation problems. This can take the form of parenting assessments for the Court, consulting, and Parent Coordination. I am registered in BC. Equally importantly I am a husband, father and grandfather of 6.

I am a Licensed Psychologist who uses a variety of methods to help clients achieve their therapeutic goals. In my work, I explore how structures and social constructs impact our experiences and understandings, and help clients develop stories that build on their existing strengths. I enjoy working with clients of varied ages. The most common problems I have worked with include BPD, depression, anxiety, and child-related concerns (i.e., trauma, attachment disruptions, behavioural concerns). My goal is to work alongside clients, as the masters of their own stories.

You may understand yourself quite well and still feel stuck. Certain reactions, relationship patterns, or difficulties with emotion may keep returning, even when part of you knows they no longer fit the present. My therapy is grounded in real life and focused on meaningful change rather than insight alone. I am practical in how I work, and I want clients to leave sessions with clearer understanding, a meaningful shift, and next steps they can use in everyday life.

Life is complex, and emotional pain is unavoidable. As your therapist, I am here to support you in navigating these complexities. While occasional feelings of sadness or anxiety, and occasional conflicts, are normal, overwhelming or persistent emotional pain may signal deeper issues. Depression, anxiety, PTSD, anger management issues, ongoing relationship problems, and persistent loneliness can indicate that we might need to do more inner work to heal. Psychotherapy helps us uncover the underlying causes of our problems, offering insights into why we experience difficulties and providing guidance on resolving them effectively

In my practice, I support clients who are experiencing anxiety, ADHD, trauma, depression, stress, work issues, life transitions and OCD. I also offer assessment and diagnostic services. Life can be hard sometimes, and my clients often tell me that they have so much going on in their lives that they're struggling to manage their emotions. Many of my clients identify themselves as being helpers and caregivers and are having a hard time finding balance in their lives. If you're tired of managing alone and want to find some peace or clarity in your life, or feel better emotionally, you've come to the right place.

It can be hard to carry everything alone— especially when decision-making feels impossible, relationships feel strained, or it's hard to feel like yourself. It's ok to not have all the answers. I wholeheartedly believe that one of the bravest things you can do is begin to understand your own story. Sometimes we all need someone who listens with care, holds space for our story, and helps untangle what’s been building up. It’s not about fixing you - it’s about gaining clarity, rediscovering your strengths, and reconnecting with the part of you that knows how to move forward.

Testing and Evaluation Counsellors
What is a psychological evaluation?
A psychological evaluation is a test or assessment most commonly administered by a trained psychologist that is intended to be used in the diagnosis of specific psychological conditions, such as ADHD, mood disorders, personality disorders, dementia or Alzheimer's, and learning disabilities. Psychological evaluations can help inform future treatment decisions and help direct clients to professionals and resources that may be most helpful, such as potential therapy options or additional school supports.

Can psychological evaluations be done on individuals of any age group?
Psychological evaluations are conducted on individuals of all ages and can be beneficial to individuals across the lifespan. However, specific types of evaluations may be most frequently conducted on individuals of certain age groups. For instance, ADHD or learning disability testing is often conducted in children ages 4-12--the period of time when ADHD symptoms most commonly emerge. In contrast, cognitive functioning assessments, such as those conducted to diagnose dementia, are most commonly conducted in elderly individuals. Clients should ensure that the psychologist they are seeing has specific expertise in conducting evaluations in their age group to ensure they receive a correct diagnosis.

How long does a psychological evaluation take?
Psychological evaluations vary in length depending on the test being administered and the goals of the evaluation; however, most evaluations are 2-4 hours in length. Some evaluations may take as long as 8 hours but can often be spread across multiple days. In some cases, clients will also attend an intake session or interview, which can help the psychologist assess client functioning outside of the testing environment.

How should I prepare for a psychological test and evaluation?
Individuals do not need to prepare for psychological tests or evaluations in most cases, as they are intended to measure a client's baseline psychological status without test-specific preparation. However, clients may want to brainstorm a list of questions for their psychologist about any tests they are receiving prior to the assessment, including what potential outcomes may mean for what next steps the client should take.
