Men's Issues Therapists in Port Moody, BC
I work with adults and couples who feel stuck, disconnected, or caught in patterns that no longer serve them. Individually, clients may be navigating life transitions, grief, or past trauma and want greater clarity, self-acceptance, and balance. Couples often come in feeling distant, repeating the same arguments, or struggling to rebuild trust.
What they share is a desire for genuine change, not just temporary relief. They long for deeper connection—with themselves, their partner, and the life they want to create.

Are you struggling with anxiety, depression, relationship pain, or simply feeling stuck?> If so, you’re not alone, and you don’t have to figure it out by yourself. I hope to create a space for real conversations, not checklists, where you can show up just as you are.
Growth can be messy, and often feel like a "2 steps forward, 1 step back" kind of process, and that’s part of being human. Together, we’ll move at your pace, with curiosity, compassion, and care. If you’re ready to take your first step to try something new together, I’ll be honoured to walk alongside you.

My name’s Martin and I’m a Registered Psychologist who works with children, adolescents, adults, families, and couples. I most often work with people experiencing depression, anxiety (e.g., panic, OCD, generalized worries), and family and relationship difficulties, but also have experience in therapy and assessment with ADHD in children and adults. I place a strong focus on the ways that we experience emotions as well as how we communicate with others, but even more importantly with ourselves. Without necessarily realizing, we are constantly talking to ourselves through our thoughts and constructing how we experience the world.

Modern life offers unique challenges to our children, our relationships, and where we are often last to focus, ourselves. If you are currently overwhelmed by stress, anxiety, depression, ADHD, neurodiversity, grief, addictive behaviors, anger, or by something you feel guilt or shame about, you are not alone. We all find ourselves struggling at times, even questioning the daily reality and meaning of our lives as men, women, and non-binary people. Shining some light on these topics can be so very helpful. I provide a warm, judgement-free, safe and private space for you to share, to explore yourself, to reflect, and to heal.

On maternity leave till July 27th 2026. No longer seeing in-person clients. "You can't cross the sea merely by standing and staring at the water." -Rabindranath Tagore. Whether you have tried many therapists, or have never been to therapy, I am comfortable working with people who are skeptical about the counselling process. I bring a trauma-informed lens to counselling to help you work through tricky moments from the past and present that we may or may not be entirely aware of. I have a person-centred approach, which means that I work collaboratively with you, at your own pace.

Do you struggle with unhelpful thoughts, difficult emotions, and challenging relationships? It’s human to get caught in painful patterns and wake up in a life that no longer feels like ours, leading us to feel overwhelmed, exhausted, frustrated, and lost. My clients are resilient and have often tried many different approaches to improve their circumstances when I meet them. Despite our best efforts, sometimes we still feel stuck and need support in making the changes necessary to create a better life. I can help! I am trained in both individual and couples therapy, as relationships are often a source of profound distress for us.

Are you looking for practical and empathetic help for depression, panic, social anxiety, post-traumatic stress, or OCD? I specialize in the treatment of these issues using cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), a highly effective evidence-based approach. However, I don't just focus on therapy technique: having a solid relationship and a trusting working alliance with any therapist is key to productive change. In addition to therapy, I conduct diagnostic, personality, and career assessments. I confidentially counsel clients all over BC online and in-person at my Port Moody office.

Does this sound familiar? On the outside, you’re functioning. Inside, the stress is constant, your mind never stops, and you're probably exhausted from trying to manage it all. Whether it's anxiety, burnout, or the sheer pressure of life, something's got to give. You deserve more than coping, you need meaningful change.
I work with high-achieving women and men who are used to being the capable one until the cracks start showing.

Men in particular seem to be attracted to me, and we can certainly delve into men's issues.
As a dancer for over 20 years, I have a strong connection to the body and to the way emotions and thought patterns express through the body. I'm extremely empathic, and can help guide clients into and through their own feelings, to greater understanding of their own nervous systems, often leading to new clarity and solutions, relief from stress, and beyond.

Exhausted, overlooked, unseen. You're numb, going through the motions at a job you used to actually care about. You spent years in school and training to get here, and now you're wondering if it was even worth it. Every day you're taking care of other people, showing up for them even when you have nothing left in the tank. Your brain won't shut off, even hours after your shift ends. You lie awake replaying things that went wrong, or worrying about things that could happen tomorrow. No matter what you do, it's never enough. You give everything to your job and the people around you, and there's nothing left for you.

Men's Issues Counsellors
Is therapy for men different than it is for women?
Therapeutic treatments and types are the same for men as they are for women, with the same protocols followed and the same strategies employed. Discussing one’s feelings and emotions is an integral part of most therapies, and some men find doing so more challenging. Therapists can help clients through the process; some specialize in treating men for this reason.
How do you encourage a man to go to therapy?
It’s helpful to express your concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual’s behavior affected either himself or others should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.
How can men prepare for therapy?
Men can prepare for therapy by approaching the process with an open mind, being willing to talk about their challenges, and giving treatment the time to work. Before a session, an individual may want to reflect on how they’ve felt since the last session and what’s happened in their lives. It can be useful for men who struggle to recall their emotional states to write down notes between sessions about their response to a given event or how they were feeling at a particular time.
What should men know about the process of therapy?
One of the most common reasons men don’t seek therapy is the notion that there’s something wrong with them if they do. Men should know that just because they’re seeking therapy doesn’t mean they’re mentally ill or damaged in some way. In the same way people work on their bodies through exercise or a craft through practice, therapy can be a way to improve the mental and emotional skills needed to be productive and effective partners, employees, and people in all realms of life.
