I offer in-person therapy in Port Moody and Coquitlam—both offices have great views.
Hi, I’m Celina Jensen, a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC), Canadian Certified Counsellor (CCC) and EMDR therapist. You may look capable on the outside — holding it together at work or for your family — yet feel reactive, overwhelmed, anxious, or not quite yourself. Relationship patterns may leave you feeling frustrated, shut down, or not good enough. Therapy can help you feel more grounded, regulated, and connected. I provide trauma-informed therapy for adults navigating trauma, anxiety, relationship challenges, anger, and chronic stress. Together, we work toward feeling less reactive and more connected to yourself and others.

Feeling overwhelmed, anxious, or stuck in a cycle of “shoulds” and self-comparison? Exhausted by the pressure to do it all, yet unsure how to slow down? You’re not alone. Many of the people I work with are navigating burnout, self-doubt, body image concerns, or life transitions that have pulled them away from who they are. You might feel overwhelmed by “shoulds,” self-comparison, or the weight of expectations. What you really want is to feel more grounded, connected, and confident—like yourself again. Therapy can be a space to breathe, reflect, and begin that return.

Emotional pain is inevitable in life. Feelings of stress, inadequacy, disappointment, anxiety, anger, and grief are universal and part of the shared human experience. Every individual experience these feelings through different situations and all of us interpret these experiences through varied perspectives because of our culture, personal history and personality differences. To move on, sometimes we learn to mask our difficult emotions by suffering in silence or behaving as though everything is okay. However, when we avoid facing our pain, they may fester within us and result in more shame and turmoil that affects our daily lives.

My name’s Martin and I’m a Registered Psychologist who works with children, adolescents, adults, families, and couples. I most often work with people experiencing depression, anxiety (e.g., panic, OCD, generalized worries), and family and relationship difficulties, but also have experience in therapy and assessment with ADHD in children and adults. I place a strong focus on the ways that we experience emotions as well as how we communicate with others, but even more importantly with ourselves. Without necessarily realizing, we are constantly talking to ourselves through our thoughts and constructing how we experience the world.

In our sessions, we look at the stories that have shaped your life — the beliefs, roles, and patterns that may no longer support you. Together, we explore how societal and relational systems have influenced your experiences, helping you cultivate clarity, compassion, and choice. Healing isn’t only intellectual, so I also bring in practices that connect your mind and body. By noticing physical sensations, nervous system responses, and embodied awareness, we can uncover insights that go beyond words. This integration supports resilience, emotional regulation, and a stronger sense of understanding of yourself.

I offer therapy sessions in-person in my office with a beautiful view of the mountains.
Do you struggle with unhelpful thoughts, difficult emotions, and challenging relationships? It’s human to get caught in painful patterns and wake up in a life that no longer feels like ours, leading us to feel overwhelmed, exhausted, frustrated, and lost. My clients are resilient and have often tried many different approaches to improve their circumstances when I meet them. Despite our best efforts, sometimes we still feel stuck and need support in making the changes necessary to create a better life. I can help! I am trained in both individual and couples therapy, as relationships are often a source of profound distress for us.

FAQ - About In Person Therapy
What are the benefits of in-person therapy?
In-person therapy offers several benefits that some people find highly valuable for their mental health treatment. Being present in the same room as your therapist can create a stronger sense of connection and allow for more nuanced communication through body language. Some people may also find it easier to focus in therapy when they are in a dedicated space and away from potential distractions related to home or work; attending an in-person session provides a clear boundary between therapy time and the rest of your life. For certain therapeutic approaches, such as Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR), exposure therapy, or somatic therapy, being in person may be particularly important, as these therapies benefit from the therapist being able to observe and respond to a client’s physical cues effectively. Additionally, some individuals simply feel more comfortable discussing sensitive or painful topics when they are face-to-face with their therapist rather than on a screen.

When should I choose in-person therapy over online therapy?
In-person therapy may be a better choice when you need a structured therapeutic environment separate from your daily life, when you find it difficult to focus or feel comfortable in an online setting, or when privacy at home is a concern. It may also be more appropriate if you are dealing with severe mental health symptoms that require close monitoring or if your therapy involves approaches that rely heavily on observing physical cues. On the other hand, if convenience, scheduling flexibility, or access to specialists outside your immediate area are priorities, online therapy may be a better fit. Many therapists offer both options, so you can also discuss with a provider which format might work best for your specific situation.

How do I find an in-person therapist?
You can use Psychology Today's therapist directory to find an in-person therapist in your area. You can search by location, insurance accepted, specialty areas, therapeutic approaches, and other criteria to narrow down providers who meet your needs. Each therapist profile includes information about their credentials, areas of expertise, and whether they offer in-person sessions. Once you have identified potential therapists, you can contact them directly through the directory to schedule an initial consultation and determine whether they are a good fit before committing to ongoing treatment. When reaching out, it can be helpful to confirm their availability for in-person appointments, their office location, and whether they accept your insurance.
