This has provided me experience working in end-of-life care, life transitions, trauma, and women facing violence.
Through a caring, respectful and collaborative relationship we will work together to rediscover and develop strengths and resiliency as you work towards your goals. I hold a strong belief in our innate wholeness as individuals. It is only the twists and turns of life’s path that sometimes makes this wholeness difficult to see. I hold a Masters degree in counselling psychology and am a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC).

I’m so glad you are here. New Clients are welcome, both young and old (individuals, couples, families). Let’s talk about how therapy helps. There are so many ways we can feel better, we just need to take one step. Reaching out is the first, and often clients feel better after the first session. There are no waitlists for new clients, when you are ready to begin, we begin. Every moment is an opportunity to feel better, but sometimes we lose hope and stop trying. I encourage self love and self-compassion with playfulness and creativity. “Love has the intense ability to heal the wounds from the blows that life gives us.” Sue Johnson

I work with folx who have experienced inter-personal, developmental and/or inter-generational trauma.
Have you been to counselling and know the ropes, or are ready to continue the inner work you have been doing? Being able to identify and name your emotions and sensations are the groundwork for processing traumatic experience's. Moving forward in one’s healing journey often has ups, downs and what can feel like ‘slow’ progress. Finding the pace that is best for all your parts is what we do. Once you are identify your goal, usually by 3rd session, we go back to that goal each session. No worries if you realize you need to change your goal(s); Consent is ongoing.

I enjoy working with youth and adults who are struggling with trauma, impacts of domestic violence, anxiety, body image/disordered eating, depression, life transitions, suicidal ideation, ADHD, family and peer conflict, and substance use disorders.
I draw from many different counselling frameworks including Intersectional Feminist Therapy, Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Emotion Focused Family Therapy, and Solution Focused Brief Therapy. Ultimately, I believe that the connection between the counsellor and the client is the most important thing for therapy to work!

Using a trauma informed integrative approach that draws from Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Narrative Therapy, I support clients to gain clarity and break free from 'stuckness'.
Reaching out for support can feel intimidating (and honestly, a bit overwhelming). A compassionate, supportive therapeutic relationship can make that first step feel less heavy. I’m a counsellor with a deep curiosity about the human experience and a genuine respect for each person’s unique story — no two are the same, and I don’t believe they should be treated that way. I take a collaborative approach, working alongside you rather than “fixing” you, to support a life that feels aligned with who you truly are. I support individuals in building lives that reflect balance, meaning, and purpose.

Trauma and PTSD Counsellors
When should I seek treatment for trauma?
Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.

How long does trauma therapy take?
Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.

What happens if trauma is left untreated?
Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.

Can PTSD come back after treatment?
It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
