We carry heavy emotions, difficult circumstances, trauma , and unhelpful habits, that eventually catch up with us, and then we need a place to settle, be honest, and start over.
I know how hard it can be to find a therapist and to trust someone new. You are being very brave taking this step. If you feel overwhelmed, lost, anxious or depressed, I want you to know that it can get better. Change is possible and you do not need to do this alone anymore. With deep compassion and care, I can support you to find your path forward. I can assure you that if you are brave and do the work your life can be much lighter and richer.

At different times in our lives we face challenges that are more than we feel we can handle. Counselling is an opportunity for you to explore, learn, discover, and grow as a person. I believe that having a safe, non-judgemental, and empathic place to explore your needs is the perfect starting point for change. I work primarily with adolescents and young adults to support them across the challenges and transitions those ages can bring. Some of the more common areas I work with clients on include; Identity, Grief, Trauma , Depression, Anxiety, and Communication.

With over 7 years of experience supporting individuals and families, I offer a holistic, trauma -informed approach, where I incorporate family theories, and attachment theories, along with DBT, ACT, EMDR, Neurofeedback, and mindfulness techniques.
Seeking help is not always easy. Not knowing what to say, worrying about being a burden, fear of being judged or rejected…the list is endless. It takes a lot of courage to ask for help because we will have to put ourselves in a vulnerable place, where we surrender control. I believe vulnerability is the key to any close relationship. And here you are, bravely taking the first step towards the journey of healing and reconnection. Congratulations! Now that you have chosen to reflect on the past and move forward, I hope to have the honour of providing a safe and welcoming space for you to let the healing begin.

Through a trauma -informed lens, I take an integrative, holistic, and collaborative approach toward counselling.
When we experience traumas or life stressors it can be not only overwhelming but also very isolating as it often feels like no one can understand what you are going through. Without having a space to explore and unpack these stressors in a meaningful way, we often turn those thoughts and feelings inwards, internalize our issues, and experience guilt and shame. This can also lead to negative interactions with our loved ones and can adversely impact our relationship with them. My focus is to help individuals grow from their struggles, heal from their pain and move forward to where they want to be in life so that they can thrive.

Trauma and PTSD Counsellors

When should I seek treatment for trauma?

Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.

How long does trauma therapy take?

Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.

What happens if trauma is left untreated?

Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.

Can PTSD come back after treatment?

It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
