I am a grief -, attachment- and trauma-informed therapist.
I bring my whole heart in encountering each client as I believe that developing a secure, trusting relationship with a safe other is the birthplace for change. I strive to provide compassionate care, empathy and a safe place as I believe that we as humans have longings to feel seen, heard, known, understood, felt, accepted, and cared for. I consider it an honour to walk alongside you and to meet you where you are at. In sharing your stories and allowing them to be witnessed in the safety of a therapeutic relationship, it is my hope that what may have once felt unbearable becomes more bearable.

At different times in our lives we face challenges that are more than we feel we can handle. Counselling is an opportunity for you to explore, learn, discover, and grow as a person. I believe that having a safe, non-judgemental, and empathic place to explore your needs is the perfect starting point for change. I work primarily with adolescents and young adults to support them across the challenges and transitions those ages can bring. Some of the more common areas I work with clients on include; Identity, Grief , Trauma, Depression, Anxiety, and Communication.

You're starting to notice that you aren't coping with life so well. Maybe something big has happened lately, like a death , a break-up, or career shift. Maybe you don't know what changed, but you can tell something isn't working. Up until now you avoided it by staying busy and keeping distracted, but you're getting tired of feeling like you have a mask on, pretending you're fine when inside you know you're not okay. You are realizing can't keep this up much longer. You need help turning inward so you can figure out what to do. You don't want to be alone with this anymore.

There are programs customized for particular groups such as cancer survivors, women, grief and loss for loved pets etc.
I like to use puzzles as an analogy or a metaphor to describe our lived experiences. Sometimes it is just difficult to put a puzzle by yourself. There are things you are worried about, you are fearful to think of, or something you have not discovered yet. I am here to help you place the pieces together to understand yourself better. Although it may take some time, or it may not be perfect, you are not alone. You want to find a way to redefine yourself, but you do not know where to begin with or feel drained to try.

The clients I work with understand that there is a spiritual thread that weaves beneath the surface of their lives, and they are seeking guidance on how to re-connect to this important aspect of who they are. I commonly work with fertility struggles, grief processing, depression, overwhelm, addictions, anxiety, relationship conflict, eating disorders, low self esteem, trust issues, and clients who are simply unhappy with the current state of their life. Ultimately, my clients are searching for balance between the mind, body and spirit aspects of self, which when in alignment, can lead to a heart-centered, joyful, fulfilling life.

Grief Counsellors

How long does therapy take for grief?

There is no exact timeline for grief counseling. Some people may start to feel better after just a few sessions, while others may take months or longer to feel relief. Some specific approaches, including some types of CBT, may involve a set number of sessions, or therapy may be open-ended until the patient determines they are ready to wrap up. Just as there is no right or wrong way to grieve, there is no right or wrong way to seek therapy for grief.

When should you seek therapy for grief?

Many people mistakenly believe that their grief needs to be debilitating or all-encompassing to warrant therapy. This is not the case. While people who experience severe, prolonged grief—particularly those who are considering self-harm or engaging in unhealthy substance use—are especially likely to benefit from therapy, so too are people whose grief is less intense but still interfering with well-being or daily functioning. In practice, almost anyone struggling to process a loss could benefit from grief counseling.

Can grief be managed without therapy?

Oftentimes, yes. Grief is a near-universal part of being human, and many find that their grief, while profound, does not stop them from participating in day-to-day life and steadily eases over time without outside help. For others, however, the harsh pain of early grief persists for months or years or leaves them unable to function. This group is especially likely to benefit from seeing a therapist, who can guide them through their grief and help them reconnect with the world.

What happens if grief is left untreated?

Because grief does not in itself necessitate therapy, untreated grief will often resolve on its own. However, for some people—particularly those who would qualify for a diagnosis of prolonged grief disorder—untreated grief can be a source of seemingly endless pain or lead them to withdraw from the world. In such cases, treatment can be indispensable, as it can help an individual adapt to the loss and start living again.
