I offer a safe space for clients to work on their issues and support them in ways that are just right for them. We co-construct the clients' desired future. Making changes can be stressful for the clients. I seek to support the clients in working out their next small step forward. I draw from my experience not only as a counsellor but as a teacher who has worked with youth struggling with depression and anxiety.
As a therapist, I am all about connection and relationships. My job is to create space for you to explore your experiences while feeling connected and supported. My counselling style is flexible to suit the needs of my clients. My practice is centered on humour, empathy, and understanding to help guide clients to deal with the challenges that life presents. My first experience with counselling was as a client and what I enjoyed about the process was the ability to talk through my problems, feel supported and learn more about myself. My passion is to be able to provide that same support to my clients.

Nearly ten years of experience in community mental health- working with people who have been navigating life transitions, challenges within their social and cultural contexts, substance use, anxiety, depression , PTSD, and more- has equipped me to contribute positively to the well-being of others. I have a passion for supporting individuals who care for people in their personal and professional lives, knowing first-hand how important it is to proactively create space for our own mental health before we can support others well.

Depression Counsellors
Depressive disorders are characterized by persistent feelings of sadness and worthlessness and a lack of desire to engage in formerly pleasurable activities. Depression is not a passing blue mood, which almost everyone experiences from time to time, but a complex mind/body illness that interferes with everyday functioning. It not only darkens one's outlook, it is commonly marked by sleep problems and changes in energy levels and appetite. It alters the structure and function of nerve cells so that it disrupts the way the brain processes information and interprets experience.

Despite feelings of hopelessness and worthlessness, depression is a treatable condition. It can be treated with psychotherapy. As with many illnesses, the earlier treatment begins, the more effective it can be and the greater the likelihood that recurrence can be prevented.

Psychotherapy addresses the thinking patterns that precipitate depression, and studies show that it prevents recurrence. Drug therapy is often helpful in relieving symptoms, such as severe anxiety, so that people can engage in meaningful psychotherapy.
