I work with individuals, couples, families, and teens navigating a wide range of concerns, including OCD, anxiety and stress, Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD), attachment injuries and ruptures, relational conflict, and trauma.
Hi, I’m a Registered Clinical Counsellor who works primarily with youth and young adults, as well as couples and families. I support clients ages 12 and up, and I’m passionate about creating a space where people feel safe, understood, and genuinely cared for. I’m not a “blank-slate” therapist—I bring warmth, personality, and authenticity into my work. Therapy with me is a collaborative, relational process where your voice and your pace lead the way. My goal is to build a strong therapeutic relationship that allows you to explore, heal, and grow with support that feels grounded and human.

We work with clients who may be struggling with anxiety, life transitions, self worth, changing relationship dynamics, and trauma.
Research shows that the therapeutic relationship itself is one of the strongest predictors of meaningful change, and that is at the heart of what we do. At The Nook Counselling, we strive to create a warm, collaborative space where you feel heard, supported, and respectfully challenged. You might be struggling with overthinking, intrusive thoughts, stress, burnout, low mood, communication struggles, relationship dynamics, trauma, and the list goes on. We work with adults, teens (17+) and relationships. Together, we’ll explore what matters most to you, and work toward your goal while honouring your unique story.

I'm interested in helping people find freedom from anxiety and addictions, as well with healing and strengthening relationships, especially couples.
Why work with me in counselling? First, I focus on effective treatment. I want you to get the help you need. I’ll tailor a counselling plan just for you, bringing in strategies I’ve found to be effective, and collaborating with you along the way. If you're not feeling better or getting what you need in counselling, I'll help you find what does.

Depression, anxiety, relational conflict, poor boundaries, low reaction times, same patterns keep showing up and you don't know why.
Having a trauma-informed focus, we understand the negative impacts that trauma has on one's life. Trauma can cause you to feel depressed, anxious, and shame. It can cause relational challenges, and unhealthy boundaries, and be triggered by the most unsuspected thing. Our goal is to get to the root of the issue and find healing from where the trauma stemmed.

When should I seek treatment for anxiety?
Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.

What are the most common types of treatment for anxiety?
Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioural therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioural Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.

How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?
The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.

How effective is treatment for anxiety?
Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
