I’m so glad you are here. New Clients are welcome, both young and old (individuals, couples, families). Let’s talk about how therapy helps. There are so many ways we can feel better, we just need to take one step. Reaching out is the first, and often clients feel better after the first session. There are no waitlists for new clients, when you are ready to begin, we begin. Every moment is an opportunity to feel better, but sometimes we lose hope and stop trying. I encourage self love and self-compassion with playfulness and creativity. “Love has the intense ability to heal the wounds from the blows that life gives us.” Sue Johnson

I welcome children, teens, adults, couples, and families.
Like Irvin D. Yalom, "I believe that a different therapy must be constructed for each patient because each has a unique story." Given the process is individualized, I strive to discover my clients' learning styles to support "best practice" therapeutic approaches. My young, hands-on learners significantly benefit from many creative art/play activities.

Life doesn’t always unfold the way we imagined. Transitions, relationships, and the ups and downs of our inner world can leave you feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or questioning your direction. You may find yourself in familiar relationship patterns, feeling anxious beneath the surface, or noticing patterns like overthinking, people-pleasing, or struggling to set boundaries, even when you know something needs to change. Part of you understands what’s happening, but another part still feels stuck. Together, we’ll look at the patterns underneath what you’re experiencing, not just the symptoms, so change feels meaningful and lasting.

Whether you, your child or family have been battling waves for some time, or a rogue wave has hit unexpectedly, I’m glad you’ve found your way here.
So let’s get creative: draw anger, make an art journal, splatter paint, the sky is the limit! All the while shedding light on tough feelings and difficult experiences, because somehow things are less scary when they are on paper or made out of clay. You don't need to be “good at art” because no one is better at expressing your lived experience than you.

Most of us can understand how our childhood impacted the way we live as adults, but this doesn’t change anything.
Depression can feel like moving through waist deep water while everyone else is on dry land. Things that used to matter somehow don’t anymore, and you’re exhausted just trying to keep up. Anxiety is a feeling of worry about what's going to happen in the next moment, this week, or long into the future - and you’re tired of bracing for impact every day. During life transitions, the old version of your life is gone, but the new one hasn't shown up yet. Whatever your current challenge is, even though there are people around you who care, a part of you feels alone in your problems.

I primarily focus on mood, trauma and stress-related disorders including anxiety, depression, grief, trauma, suicidal ideation, self-esteem, and the effects of childhood abuse or neglect.

While these experiences can leave us feeling stuck in a broad range of emotional states, such as shame, guilt, anxiety, numbness, or isolation, I can help with navigating the stressors that are part of your everyday lived experience. I value collaborating with clients to support them in their journey to achieve harmony, fulfillment, and happiness.

I specialize in supporting children, adults, couples & families who are navigating the lasting effects of trauma, emotional dysregulation, and relational disconnection.
I am accepting new clients! Are you struggling to regulate your emotions? Do you feel like you're riding unpredictable waves of intensity? Or perhaps the opposite, feeling numb and disconnected, unable to fully experience life? Maybe you find yourself lying awake at night, exhausted but unable to rest. Your relationships feel strained, and if you're a parent, the weight of your to-do list can feel overwhelming. You might notice a constant undercurrent of anxiety; a sense of dread that's hard to shake, even when things seem "fine."

Do you lack confidence or struggle with feeling like you're not good enough, not worthy, or in some way unsafe in your world? Are your relationships struggling? Do you find yourself engaging in unwanted behaviour? So many wonderful people are struggling now more than ever, feeling anxious, overwhelmed, depressed, triggered, and are self-medicating with unhealthy coping strategies...feeling lost and alone with how to manage their relationships, their careers, and their lives. Bottling it all up and pushing it to the side can lead to long-term issues in your body and your mind. We believe clarity, calm, and peace should be easier.

FAQ - About Child Therapy
When does a child need to see a therapist?
Children naturally experience emotional ups and downs. Sometimes, though, they need support from a professional. A child may benefit from therapy if their emotions or behaviours change significantly within a short period of time. For example, if a child usually spends time with friends after school but begins isolating in their room, further inquiry is warranted. Other areas for concern include altered sleep patterns, lack of appetite, intense anger, irritability, or hopelessness, or developmental regression in young children (bedwetting, thumb-sucking).

What can a child therapist help with?
A therapist can help with any difficult experience a child may encounter growing up, including learning problems or anxiety related to school, relationship challenges with friends or parents, bullying, intense emotions or phobias, divorce and family dynamics, or the death of a pet or loved one. A therapist can help children process their experience and develop coping skills in an age-appropriate way

What therapy types are most suitable for children?
Children can benefit from different forms of therapy, including family therapy, parent-child interaction therapy, play therapy, cognitive behavioural therapy, and exposure therapy, depending on their condition. Play therapy is a great option for younger children who may not be able to fully articulate their feelings. In this approach, kids play with toys and games while a therapist observes and helps the child express their emotions and develop coping skills.

Do I need to attend therapy with my child?
Parents are an integral part of a child’s therapy, but the specifics of their involvement vary. If your child is young, you may attend most or all sessions; if your child is older, you may attend a few sessions or none; sometimes a therapist may ask you to have a session on your own. Whatever the arrangement, you should expect to work collaboratively with the therapist, your child, and your family members to take steps to help support your child.

How can I tell if a therapist is a good fit for my child?
A child needs to feel comfortable opening up about their thoughts and feelings, so if your child feels a sense of comfort, ease, and trust with their therapist, that’s a great sign. In addition, a therapist is a good fit for your child if the two can communicate well together; a clinician should be able to communicate clearly, effectively, and in an age-appropriate manner.
