Do you feel lost, burnt out, or that you're barely surviving and can't catch a break? I support clients through the messy and complicated periods of life. As humans we face all sorts of challenges - from your relationships dynamics or mood (like anxiety or depression), trauma from the past that keeps getting in your way, or just general "life" (like parenting, finances, health conditions). Therapy is the space to get some support, learn some tools and find some insight on the patterns which will help meaningful shifts in your life from surviving to thriving.

I am a Queer neuro-divergent counsellor working on the unceded territories of the Musqueam, Squamish and TsleiI-Waututh peoples. I endeavour to work collaboratively, inter-sectionally and conscious of my clients lived experience and world view. I believe learning to become an authentic person is the ongoing journey we all undergo and with counselling, it can be a bit easier. I believe strongly in meeting an individual where they are presently and working alongside their own desires for change and growth.

Hey, life can feel really hard at times, I know. I really do. And although you're inherently wise and strong, you don't have to do it alone. We're stronger—and life is richer—in connection to ourselves and others. If relationships feel challenging or impossible; you're going through a life change, be it palpable or the kind you can't quite put your finger on; or life just doesn't feel like you thought or imagined it would... I'm so glad you're here. It would be my honour to work with you to see how we can bring you in alignment with the goals and dreams you have for your life!

Seeking therapy is a sign of a personal strength, not a weakness. It takes awareness in our lives and courage to be able to reach out for help. Often people who engage in therapy are actually doing well in life but would like to do better in one area or another. I believe that the client is the expert on them and it is my role to support them to reach the goals that they set. Now excepting virtual clients in British Columbia.

We use trauma-informed, attachment-based counselling approaches such as EMDR, AEDP, CBT, Inner Child Work, Gottman Couples Therapy, Internal Family Systems, Solutions-focused Therapy, among others.
Hi, I’m Sandy Kirkwood, the founder of Integrate Counselling. I’m passionate about counselling because I know that with the right therapist at the right moment in your life, it can be both helpful and life changing. I know this because, over the years, I have witnessed so many clients move through their struggles to gain a deeper understanding of who they are and what they truly want. I have gathered this particular team of therapists together because I know how they work with clients. They have been either close colleagues of mine or past supervisees. I have witnessed their warmth, wisdom and effectiveness in working with clients.

As a neurodiverse counsellor living in Vancouver, I work with adults navigating self-esteem, trauma, ADHD, and life transitions. You might be feeling overwhelmed, stuck in patterns that are hard to shift, or trying to make sense of your experiences and identity. I offer a non-judgmental space where you can explore what’s been coming up for you, process past experiences, and reconnect with what matters most. I value transparency, compassion, and showing up authentically, and I believe that building trust starts with aligning what I say with how I show up in the room, virtual or in-person.

I work with individuals who feel disconnected from themselves due to chronic stress, trauma, or long-standing patterns of self-protection. This can show up as burnout, overwhelm, or numbness, even while functioning well outwardly. Therapy is a space to slow down and tune into your inner experience— integrating the mind, body, and nervous system to support meaning-making, self-discovery, and the uncovering of your inner wisdom. This deeper connection and understanding of self also helps to cultivate healthier, more meaningful relationships with others.

Hi, I'm Eileen. I practice Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) with individuals. I help clients navigate attachment-related challenges, including anxiety, avoidance, or disorganization in their relationships. Many people reach out after divorce, separation, or breakups, struggling with the painful shifts that follow the end of a relationship — the deep loss of identity (“Who am I without my partner?”) and the loss of your future self.

Being human is weird and messy. Maybe you feel stuck in self-doubt, anxiety, depression, or relationship struggles, wondering, why do I keep doing this? Maybe intimacy feels complicated, trauma keeps showing up in ways you don’t expect, or you’re just trying to figure out who you are and what you actually need. You want deeper self-trust, better emotional regulation, and connections that don’t feel like a rollercoaster. Most of all, you want to feel like you, without the weight of old patterns holding you back.

You’re craving something more real, more embodied, and more connected. I live and practice in the beautiful mountain town of Squamish, BC. Inspired by nature.

Attachment-based Counsellors
Is attachment-based therapy the same as attachment therapy?
Attachment-based therapy may be confused with what is called “attachment therapy” (sometimes called “holding therapy”), a discredited and dangerous approach to treating children with attachment disorders, autism, or other mental health concerns. Attachment therapy—not attachment-based therapy—may involve restraining a child, forcing eye contact, and other coercive or abusive techniques. None of these practices are used in attachment-based therapy and the two modalities are in no way related.

What should I expect from attachment-based therapy?
Attachment-based therapy is based on attachment theory, which posits that children’s early relationships with their caregivers strongly influence their ability to navigate the world later in life. Thus, adults who seek attachment-based therapy should expect to deeply explore their childhood, identifying the dynamics or experiences that disrupted their attachment and the steps necessary to overcome challenges that arose as a result. Parents and children should expect to explore the possible factors that disrupted the parent-child relationship and work toward restoring trust and connection.

How long does attachment-based therapy last?
Certain forms of attachment-based therapy, especially those designed for parents and children, last for a set number of sessions; for example, Attachment and Biobehavioral Catch-Up, a specific attachment-based approach for young children who have undergone early adversity, unfolds over 10 one-hour sessions. When attachment-based therapy is practiced on adults or combined with other modalities, it may not last a specific length of time; clients may wish to ask prospective therapists how long they expect treatment to take.

Does attachment-based therapy work?
Most of the research on attachment-based therapy focuses on children and adolescents. Some of this research shows a positive effect, especially for attachment-based family therapy (ABFT). Other studies, however, have found that attachment-based therapy is no more effective than other approaches to childhood depression, anxiety, or suicidality. Less is known about the therapy’s efficacy on adult populations.
