Anxiety and depression are areas I commonly work to support clients with.
Creating a calm and welcoming space to learn about my clients goals for therapy, I often start with building healthy coping resources and skills that clients can use in their everyday life. Clients often decide to work through past experiences as well, through the use of EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy).

As humans we face all sorts of challenges - from your relationships dynamics or mood (like anxiety or depression), trauma from the past that keeps getting in your way, or just general "life" (like parenting, finances, health conditions).
There is rarely just one pain point in life and I specialize in breaking down the steps of therapy into manageable sections (so you don't have to climb the mountain alone). I have a gentle and grounded style, but curiosity and even humour is welcome too!

Together, we slow down to notice anxiety and reactivity, building differentiation—helping you respond with clarity, maintain connection without overwhelm, and find your true self within the family system.
When life feels like a series of fires to put out, finding your own path can feel impossible. Together, we will look at the patterns, lower the noise, and help you return to yourself... Through the lens of Bowen Family Systems Theory, I invite clients to get curious about the family patterns that shape their struggles. In a calm, reflective space, we slow down, grow awareness, and build the clarity and resilience needed to respond to life with greater freedom and intention.

What a courageous step you're taking, to reach out for help. I honour what you've been through to bring you to this moment. Perhaps you are feeling overwhelmed with life and trying to "hold it all together", or maybe your needs are falling to the bottom of the priority list. Maybe you notice patterns in your life that keep repeating such as perfectionism, negative self-talk, destructive behaviours, unsatisfying relationships, or mindlessly distracting yourself. If you yearn to: know and trust yourself more deeply, be more gentle and tender with yourself, and feel the freedom to be yourself, I am here to support your journey.

If you look successful on the outside yet secretly wrestle with self-doubt, people-pleasing, or exhaustion from trying to keep it all together, you’re not alone. I have experience sitting with folks navigating trauma, anxiety, depression, adverse childhood experiences, and histories of self-harm.
I have a particular passion for working with teenagers ... yep, teenagers. Adolescence can be an incredible time of exploration and identity development, and it can also be an extremely challenging, confusing, and scary time for our kids. I hold a special place in my practice for working with teens who might be navigating some dark and choppy waters.

When should I seek treatment for anxiety?
Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.

What are the most common types of treatment for anxiety?
Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioural therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioural Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.

How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?
The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.

How effective is treatment for anxiety?
Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
