Hi, I’m so glad you’re here. Many people come to therapy feeling stuck or overwhelmed, unsure of how to move forward. Past trauma, societal pressures, and systemic imbalances can leave us feeling disconnected from ourselves and trapped in unhelpful patterns. The trauma we carry is not just personal, but a product of the systems we live in. As a result, it can be hard to see beyond the distress, or even know where to begin to heal. By exploring how trauma and systems shape your life, we’ll work together to address both the emotional and systemic roots of your distress.

I will probably laugh at your jokes. No, seriously! I think laughter is one of the most powerful ways we loosen the grip of fear and shame. Therapy doesn’t have to feel cold or clinical to be effective. You can expect me to be warm, steady, and straightforward with you. The hours we spend together matter. This isn't just another conversation, it's intentional work. Real change happens when two people sit down, tell the truth, and aren't alone in it. We’ll call those patterns out when they show up in session (and they will), not to shame you, but to understand them. When we can see what’s happening in real time, we can adjust.

I am passionate about self-discovery and bringing balance in our lives to handle stressful situations. My goal is to support my clients on their journey back to their truest, most embodied selves. My approach to counselling integrates several methods depending on individual needs. I strongly believe that no one definition fits all; we are all unique individuals and heal differently. I stand by three strong proponents: non-judgmental attitude, congruence and unconditional positive regard.

At Allura, we know and understand that sexuality is one of the most fun but complicated parts of humanity, while also one of the hardest to find a safe and non-judgmental space to speak openly about. Do you feel overwhelmed when you think about your sexuality, sex life, or relationship? Do you wish for more connection and excitement with your partner? Do you sometimes feel stress or anxiety fill your life? We can help with that. Our clients are professionals, parents, sometimes monogamous and sometimes polyamorous, LGBTQ+ - but they all share one thing in common: they are struggling with their sexuality in some way.

Trauma does not always present as a single event or clear memory. It can appear as anxiety, grief, dissociation, relationship patterns, shutdown, or a life that looks functional while still feeling difficult to live inside. I primarily work with adults whose symptoms often point to something deeper than what is immediately visible. My role is to help clients process what has been carried emotionally, psychologically, and relationally so relief and meaningful change become possible.

I help you get to the root of your problems, train your brain to be more resilient, and overwrite unwanted default programming so you can make lasting change. 95% of your thoughts and behaviours are processed in your unconscious mind, which is why, even though you might want something better for yourself, you find yourself stuck. I use evidence-based techniques like hypnotherapy, cognitive behavioural therapy, and neurofeedback to help you access your unconscious mind, and reprogram unwanted thoughts and behaviour patterns for good.

You may find yourself stuck in the same relationship patterns, constantly questioning yourself, or carrying the weight of everyone else's needs. Perhaps anxiety, self-criticism, overwhelming emotions, or past experiences are making it difficult to feel fully connected—to yourself, your relationships, or the life you want to create. If you're a teen, you may be struggling with friendships, family conflict, identity, school pressures, or feeling misunderstood and unsure where to turn. I believe healing happens in relationship, and meaningful change begins when we no longer carry things alone.

Do you feel like you are too much and not enough all at the same time? Do you hear the phrase ‘just love your body’ and you know deeply that there is more to that statement? Our society holds many messages about being acceptable and conforming while we just want to trust what’s right for us. Add into that all the ways we are taught to push down, set aside and outright ignore our feelings of grief. My practice is here for people seeking to develop a more trusting and compassionate relationship with themselves. In particular, I am fond of supporting young people (13 and up), LGBTQI2sA+ community and fat folx.

Does the pressure to live up to 'good vibes only' leave you wondering if there's something wrong with you? We live in a world where disconnection abounds and vulnerability is shamed. Life hands us pain and expects us to put on a smiling face. Therapy with me is an attempt to provide an alternative: a space of understanding, safety and non-judgement. I believe that humans make change while in relationships that support empowerment, therefore I place high value on our working relationship. Working with me will allow you to have a space where you're nurtured, challenged, and seen.

Being human is a challenging endeavour ... challenged even further due to childhood developmental needs going unmet, any trauma or past unresolved trauma, and a world that does not often foster honest connection or self awareness. Are you experiencing a sense of being stuck or lost? Do you find it difficult to connect with yourself or others in healthy ways? Perhaps it is difficult to feel your feelings, or connect to your deeper emotions?

My clients often feel anxious, on edge, emotionally exhausted, or disconnected from themselves and others. Many have lived through trauma, instability, or chronic stress and want support that feels safe, steady, and practical. They want to understand their triggers, regulate their nervous system, and stop repeating patterns that keep them stuck. Their goals are to build emotional stability, strengthen relationships, and feel more like themselves again.

Sexual Abuse Counsellors
How do therapists treat sexual abuse?
A good therapist will be nonjudgmental and possibly demonstrate active listening, repeating back what the client says to show that they have understood. These skills allow people to feel comfortable discussing their traumatic experiences openly. Some important treatment goals are to restore a sense of safety and to rebuild confidence. In addition to working one-on-one with the patient, a therapist might bring in supportive family members to assist the client.

Do you have to talk extensively about sexual abuse in therapy?
Survivors frequently find it difficult to describe what happened to them out loud. They can even still be in a state of denial if the sexual abuse occurred recently. It is important for survivors to acknowledge that what happened isn’t their fault and to challenge and reappraise any unhealthy feelings or thoughts as they arise. Art therapy and play therapy are useful non-verbal means of communication for some survivors.

How long does treatment for sexual abuse take?
Recovery from sexual abuse can be a long and difficult process. Some survivors are able to move on naturally on their own, given time, while others require the guidance of a trained therapist. Therapy needs vary and can range from a few sessions to months or even years. Healing from sexual abuse takes time, and everyone’s journey will look a little different.

Can trauma symptoms caused by sexual abuse come back after treatment?
As occurs in many cases of trauma, survivors of sexual abuse may experience PTSD-like symptoms long after the abuse has ceased or after an initial round of treatment has occurred. In such a case, there is evidence that prolonged exposure therapy is a useful treatment for survivors, and may be more efficacious than supportive counseling alone. While triggers may continue to cause distress, the idea is that, with time and repeated exposure, their power will fade, allowing survivors to move on with their lives.
