Supporting a child or a loved one who is struggling with mental illness can be confusing, overwhelming, and just plain tough. Navigating systems can feel hopeless and pointless. It's like a roller coaster that won’t let you off; leaving you exhausted (and maybe even a little nauseous). Your other responsibilities and your own self-care just seem to fly right out the window. You’ve tried everything to help your loved one, but nothing seems to work. Maybe their personality has changed, and you are worried that things could get even worse. You may even wonder where you went wrong.

I imagine my client with their therapist as pioneers in their journey. Whether it is grief, transition, relationships or trauma. As pioneers, we explore, travel, and come to discovery. This discovery may help an individual to work on goals, their growth, treatment and healing. This self discovery is simply facilitated by the therapist and lead by the client.

I am a Clinical Psychologist registered in both BC and Saskatchewan (website: www.drjordanmaile.com) who provides treatment for adults with depression, anxiety, worry, stress, and anger issues. Since I am registered in both BC and SK, I can see clients (virtually) from both provinces. I use primarily cognitive-behaviour therapy or CBT; if you don't know what this, I'd be happy to explain! I understand that it can be challenging to reach out for help, so I try to make the process as straightforward and simple as I can.

You might be navigating a life transition, relationship challenges, or the lingering impact of something from the past that feels difficult to fully process. Maybe you have learned to move through the stormy parts of life on your own, even when it feels overwhelming. What you are feeling might be difficult to name, but something does not feel quite right.
I aim to offer a warm, non-judgmental presence, allowing you to arrive just as you are. I offer gentle curiosity as we explore parts that feel stuck, tender, or ready to shift at a pace that feels right for you.

For over 17 years, I’ve worked with individuals experiencing anxiety that goes beyond surface-level stress, often showing up as overthinking, chronic worry, panic, or feeling responsible for holding everything together. You may notice patterns of people-pleasing, difficulty asserting yourself, or feeling stuck in familiar relational dynamics, even when you know they are not working. Even when things appear fine externally, it can feel exhausting internally. I offer in-depth psychotherapy to help you understand the origins of these patterns, how they continue to shape your present, and how to shift them in a meaningful, lasting way.

Psychosis Counsellors
What’s the most effective treatment for psychosis?
The most effective treatment for psychosis is coordinated specialty care. In this model, a team of professionals works with a patient to address all aspects of the underlying disorder. This approach incorporates individual or group therapy, employment and education support, family support and education, medication management (which often involves low doses of antipsychotics), and case management to facilitate problem-solving as needed.
When should people seek treatment for psychosis?
People should seek immediate treatment at the earliest indication of psychosis. Symptoms include delusions, hallucinations, disorganized or blocked speech, and agitated body movements. Early signs that a person may be developing a disorder that will lead to psychosis include suspiciousness of others, memory problems and distractibility, an inability to think clearly, rapid or nonsensical speech, withdrawal from friends or family, aggression toward others, and sensitivity to bright lights or noises.
What if psychosis is left untreated?
Without treatment, psychosis can have significant repercussions, including injuries, job loss, homelessness, financial or legal trouble, ruptured relationships, and suffering for the person and their family. While early treatment for psychosis often yields the best results, there is no point past which it becomes useless to seek treatment. At any point, treatment can make a difference.
How do I get someone else to seek treatment for psychosis?
It’s extremely difficult to watch a loved one suffer from hallucinations, delusions, and other elements of psychosis—sometimes exacerbated by their fears of treatment. Have a conversation with them in a quiet space and maintain a calm, supportive tone. Share your concerns about behaviors you’ve observed, suggest treatment, and explain the potential benefits. Listen carefully to their responses. The person may not be ready after one conversation, but with time, they may come around.
