Offering in person sessions in North Van on Weds and Thurs.
So many of us grew up learning to keep it together for everyone else. Maybe you’ve said yes when you meant no, or found yourself in the same argument with your partner, wondering how you got there. On the outside, you’re dependable, the one people lean on. But inside, you might feel anxious, tired, or unsure of who you are. I believe those patterns of people-pleasing, perfectionism, and disconnecting were never flaws, but the ways you learned to stay safe when you needed it most. They helped you survive, but now they may be leaving you feeling disconnected, resentful, or unsure of how to care for yourself.

Life can be complicated no matter what your age is. Managing life transitions such as becoming a teenager or young adult, a parent, or change in any life routine can be difficult. You may be experiencing stress, anxiety, chronic illness, addiction, or relationship issues. Traumas and life stressors we experience can affect how we feel, think, and connect with others. I aim to help you connect with yourself and others in a way that makes you feel more content and confident in life.

I offer in-person counselling in North Vancouver, as well as phone and secure virtual sessions across British Columbia.
My style is practical, direct, and focused on helping men create real change. Many of the men I work with are doing well on the outside but feel like things are slipping behind the scenes. Stress is building, anger shows up more than you want, drinking is creeping up, or your relationship is getting tense. You keep telling yourself you should be able to handle it. We focus on what is happening now and build clear strategies to regain control, improve relationships, and get life moving in the right direction again.

I offer counselling in both Farsi and English, online or in person.
Life is complex, and emotional pain is unavoidable. As your therapist, I am here to support you in navigating these complexities. While occasional feelings of sadness or anxiety, and occasional conflicts, are normal, overwhelming or persistent emotional pain may signal deeper issues. Depression, anxiety, PTSD, anger management issues, ongoing relationship problems, and persistent loneliness can indicate that we might need to do more inner work to heal. Psychotherapy helps us uncover the underlying causes of our problems, offering insights into why we experience difficulties and providing guidance on resolving them effectively

FAQ - About In Person Therapy
What are the benefits of in-person therapy?
In-person therapy offers several benefits that some people find highly valuable for their mental health treatment. Being present in the same room as your therapist can create a stronger sense of connection and allow for more nuanced communication through body language. Some people may also find it easier to focus in therapy when they are in a dedicated space and away from potential distractions related to home or work; attending an in-person session provides a clear boundary between therapy time and the rest of your life. For certain therapeutic approaches, such as Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR), exposure therapy, or somatic therapy, being in person may be particularly important, as these therapies benefit from the therapist being able to observe and respond to a client’s physical cues effectively. Additionally, some individuals simply feel more comfortable discussing sensitive or painful topics when they are face-to-face with their therapist rather than on a screen.

When should I choose in-person therapy over online therapy?
In-person therapy may be a better choice when you need a structured therapeutic environment separate from your daily life, when you find it difficult to focus or feel comfortable in an online setting, or when privacy at home is a concern. It may also be more appropriate if you are dealing with severe mental health symptoms that require close monitoring or if your therapy involves approaches that rely heavily on observing physical cues. On the other hand, if convenience, scheduling flexibility, or access to specialists outside your immediate area are priorities, online therapy may be a better fit. Many therapists offer both options, so you can also discuss with a provider which format might work best for your specific situation.

How do I find an in-person therapist?
You can use Psychology Today's therapist directory to find an in-person therapist in your area. You can search by location, insurance accepted, specialty areas, therapeutic approaches, and other criteria to narrow down providers who meet your needs. Each therapist profile includes information about their credentials, areas of expertise, and whether they offer in-person sessions. Once you have identified potential therapists, you can contact them directly through the directory to schedule an initial consultation and determine whether they are a good fit before committing to ongoing treatment. When reaching out, it can be helpful to confirm their availability for in-person appointments, their office location, and whether they accept your insurance.
