I imagine my client with their therapist as pioneers in their journey. Whether it is
grief
, transition, relationships or trauma. As pioneers, we explore, travel, and come to discovery. This discovery may help an individual to work on goals, their growth, treatment and healing. This self discovery is simply facilitated by the therapist and lead by the client.

I have a particular focus on
grief
and working with parents, children, adolescents, and families.
I am a narrative trained therapist who believes in collaboration, curiosity, and respect. When dilemmas and obstacles grow big enough, they can come to dominate our lives, pulling us towards dark ideas and stories in which we can feel hopeless, lost, scared, and disconnected. It is my aim as a therapist to work with clients to identify the challenges in their lives and explore how to move into more spaces of joy and preferred ways of living.

My passion is to help young adults through difficult life transitions and feelings of despair. This could look like
loss
in academics, career, relationships, culture, gender/sexual identity, or nature (e.g. climate change/fire). I myself have lived through traumatic
loss
and am deeply familiar with both the strengths and stressors of life transitions. I have also lived in multiple countries abroad and recognize the difficulties of being a newcomer and the importance of belonging. Finding clarity and developing connections can help reduce feelings of anxiety, loneliness, and
loss
.

All
grief
is not the same. You might think that you cannot survive your traumatic
loss
and life will never seem right again. You might think that the pain you are in now will never end. You wonder how other people get through the day. My clients seek to make sense of what has happened in their lives, to be understood and have a place of safety to explore new ways of living. Having helped clients in many areas of counselling and psychotherapy and with most age groups over the past 20 years, my experience is broad and deep. This informs my current work with clients, who like you, are looking for hope that life can get better.

I am passionate about working with clients that struggle with anxiety,
grief
, and life transitions. These experiences often invoke a feeling of being stuck; not knowing how to move forward. This leads to feeling overwhelmed and alone. I use a warm, gentle and strength-based approach. I believe that clients are the experts on their own life, and I provide a safe space to walk alongside them as they discover the answers that they seek. I believe that every human being strives for and has the capacity to fulfill their own potential. My purpose is to help my clients feel understood and empowered to achieve their mental health goals.

Loss
can have many faces: the
death
of a loved one, relationships ending, changes in your health (or hormones), unfulfilled dreams.
I am passionate about working with women and addressing issues that are standing in the way of you experiencing life from a place of joy, self-love and empowerment. As women we tend to wear many hats such as daughter, mother, spouse, caregiver, career woman. Low self-esteem, co-dependency or inability to say no, feeling responsible, poor body image, fertility issues, sexual abuse or abuse, perfectionism or emotional eating...all these challenges can create stress and overwhelm which can lead to anxiety, depression and more. Pls check out my website www.goddessrevealed.ca for more information about my work.

I am especially passionate about working with self-esteem, life transitions, anxiety and
grief
and
loss
.
One of the most exciting aspects of life is that it is always changing, yet this can also be one of our biggest challenges. Change can be difficult as it can cause stress, uncertainty and confusion. It can make us question ourselves and others and may overwhelm us into inaction. I believe that having someone to talk to who will listen and guide you through these tough times is so helpful. I have gone through many phases in my own life and have found counselling very useful in helping me figure out for myself why I might be experiencing various emotions and how I might want to proceed.

At different times in our lives we face challenges that are more than we feel we can handle. Counselling is an opportunity for you to explore, learn, discover, and grow as a person. I believe that having a safe, non-judgemental, and empathic place to explore your needs is the perfect starting point for change. I work primarily with adolescents and young adults to support them across the challenges and transitions those ages can bring. Some of the more common areas I work with clients on include; Identity,
Grief
, Trauma, Depression, Anxiety, and Communication.

I am an expressive arts therapist because when words in therapy are not enough, creative self-expression (through visual arts, movement, music, writing and drama) can allow us to speak things we don't have the words to say. My hope as a therapist is to provide a gentle space where you can express yourself creatively, uniquely, and holistically. My work often appeals to people who have experienced deep
grief
or
loss
, trauma, or complex life transitions. I have worked with many children (& families), youth, adults, and the elderly processing abuse, anxiety, parental struggles, depression, divorce, immigration, identity & disability.

I am a certified Life Coach and Registered Professional Counsellor, specializing in
loss
and
grief
counselling and I am the founder of Village
Grief
Counselling here in Vancouver.
It has been for too long that we have not given ourselves permission to fully grieve our losses. Whether it is a fear that allowing the
grief
to be experienced will be too much to bear, or the belief that we don't have as bad a situation as others, there are many reasons that we don't allow ourselves to grieve fully after our losses. This unprocessed
grief
will affect us, mentally, emotionally, physically, and spiritually. Together, we will explore resources around and within you to honor your
grief
and move through it. Village
Grief
Counselling is an oasis for individuals experiencing
loss
.

I believe that people deserve a place to feel seen, heard, and supported. In our sessions, I strive to provide a non-judgmental and open space where you can express yourself and explore your inner world so that we can create change together. While it is true that counselling can be challenging, I also believe it can and should include humour, hope, and be a comfortable place for you to learn and grow. If you are in a place where you are ready to make a change, I will support you to address concerns such as anxiety, depression, ADHD/ADD, parenting, interpersonal and relationship challenges,
grief
and
loss
, trauma, and careers.

Through my work and life experiences, I have gained knowledge and experience in supporting my clients through anxiety, depression, self-injury,
grief
, trauma, family/relationship discord, parenting, and life transition.
I trust that developing insight and self-awareness is the most crucial step towards creating change and initiating healing. I believe through self-exploration and becoming more mindful we could develop a deeper sense of presence in life. I am empathic, warm, respectful, and flexible. I provide a safe and non-judgemental space for my clients where they could explore the challenges in their life without feeling judged. I have confidence that my authenticity facilitates a collaborative space where my clients could draw on their inner strengths and resiliency to continue their journey towards healing and fulfilment in life.

How long does therapy take for grief?
There is no exact timeline for grief counseling. Some people may start to feel better after just a few sessions, while others may take months or longer to feel relief. Some specific approaches, including some types of CBT, may involve a set number of sessions, or therapy may be open-ended until the patient determines they are ready to wrap up. Just as there is no right or wrong way to grieve, there is no right or wrong way to seek therapy for grief.
When should you seek therapy for grief?
Many people mistakenly believe that their grief needs to be debilitating or all-encompassing to warrant therapy. This is not the case. While people who experience severe, prolonged grief—particularly those who are considering self-harm or engaging in unhealthy substance use—are especially likely to benefit from therapy, so too are people whose grief is less intense but still interfering with well-being or daily functioning. In practice, almost anyone struggling to process a loss could benefit from grief counseling.
Can grief be managed without therapy?
Oftentimes, yes. Grief is a near-universal part of being human, and many find that their grief, while profound, does not stop them from participating in day-to-day life and steadily eases over time without outside help. For others, however, the harsh pain of early grief persists for months or years or leaves them unable to function. This group is especially likely to benefit from seeing a therapist, who can guide them through their grief and help them reconnect with the world.
What happens if grief is left untreated?
Because grief does not in itself necessitate therapy, untreated grief will often resolve on its own. However, for some people—particularly those who would qualify for a diagnosis of prolonged grief disorder—untreated grief can be a source of seemingly endless pain or lead them to withdraw from the world. In such cases, treatment can be indispensable, as it can help an individual adapt to the loss and start living again.
