I work with school-aged children and their families navigating big emotions, social struggles, or difficult transitions. Whether it's anxiety, school refusal, behavioural challenges, or low self-esteem, these children often feel overwhelmed or misunderstood—and their parents are doing their best to support them, but may be feeling frustrated, concerned, or unsure of what steps to take next. What families want most is for their child to feel happier, more confident, and more equipped to manage life’s challenges—and for home to feel calmer and more connected again.

You may be holding more than anyone can see; stress, grief, self-doubt, or patterns you don’t fully understand but feel stuck inside. Maybe it’s hard to name what hurts, or maybe you’ve been carrying it for so long it feels like part of who you are. The truth is, healing doesn’t happen through pressure; it happens through being met with care and curiosity. My clients often come with complex stories, quiet strength, and a desire to live more fully. If you're looking for space to breathe, reflect, and grow, I’m here to support that process with honesty and respect.

My clients often come to therapy feeling stuck or unfulfilled, but after working together, they often feel more in control of their lives and in touch with their inner experience. My goal as your therapist is to help you gain more awareness for why you feel the way you do, identify patterns of experiences or behaviours in your life that are no longer serving you, and empower you to take steps towards a life that honours your values and goals. Change can be a difficult process, but I believe that each small positive change we make extends to other aspects of our lives and making that initial change is the hardest part.

You have so much to give and share, but you second-guess yourself and feel paralyzed and uncertain in social situations. Sometimes you feel like you are both too much and not enough at the same time. You are afraid you are falling farther and farther behind in building the life and family you want, but you aren't sure how to find the people you can just be yourself with and build those meaningful relationships.

So many of us grew up learning to keep it together for everyone else. Maybe you’ve said yes when you meant no, or found yourself in the same argument with your partner, wondering how you got there. On the outside, you’re dependable, the one people lean on. But inside, you might feel anxious, tired, or unsure of who you are. I believe those patterns of people-pleasing, perfectionism, and disconnecting were never flaws, but the ways you learned to stay safe when you needed it most. They helped you survive, but now they may be leaving you feeling disconnected, resentful, or unsure of how to care for yourself.

Female Counsellors
Does it matter what gender my therapist is?
In general, there is no relationship between a therapist’s gender and their efficacy. Some clients, however, prefer to see therapists of a particular gender, whether due to their own past experiences with men and women, or because they feel more comfortable with a therapist of their own gender due to shared life experiences or perspectives. Considering what one wants to address in therapy can help someone determine whether their therapist’s gender may matter or improve their therapeutic experience. The most important consideration is that a client is able to build a trusting relationship with their therapist.
Should I see a female therapist?
Many people—not just women—prefer to see a female therapist. For women, this could be because they believe that they will be able to better connect with a woman, and that a female therapist will be able to relate to their specific challenges and personal issues. It may be particularly beneficial for women to see a female therapist, for example, for gender-specific issues, such as sexism in the workplace, relationship issues, and gender roles. The most important factor in therapy is the client-therapist connection, and a therapist's gender as well as many other factors may play an important role in this.
Do therapists get specific training to help with women’s concerns?
Therapists are trained to provide care to clients of any gender. However, some therapists may pursue additional training in feminist therapy, gender-specific issues, or women’s mental health. Female clients may wish to ask prospective therapists whether they have received specific training in the client’s primary area(s) of concern, or whether they have worked extensively with women on issues similar to their own.
How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience in treating women?
It’s OK—even encouraged!—to ask a therapist directly whether and how often they have treated women in the past, or whether they have treated women dealing with the client’s most prominent concern(s). Competent therapists will be happy to share their educational background, preferred treatment modalities, and prior client experience to help an individual find the therapist best suited to their needs.
