Hey, welcome! In a world where it can feel like we're drowning in information, I work to slow things down and help people to explore their own inner thoughts and feelings that don't always have the opportunity to express themselves. I view you as the expert in your life, and my job is to ask you the right questions and help you reflect on what is showing up, and identify patterns along the way.

My "bottom up" approach, uses an Integrative Somatic Therapy Practice (ISTP-tm) to resolve what you are experiencing in your body first, then a "top down" approach to resolve your emotional distress.
Welcome! Are you suffering from anxiety and depression that has knocked your life to the point where it is has become unmanageable? Are you struggling to have or maintain close relationships with your family, friends, loved ones, staff or employers? Have you being "going it alone," or tried other treatments, but nothing worked or if it did, it did not work for long? Mistrust, anxiety, depression, hypervigilance and self-destructive behaviours are only a few symptoms of something much larger that is going on.

You may feel overwhelmed. You overthink, doubt yourself, struggle with mood shifts, or feel easily triggered with your partner or child. You react in ways you later regret and wonder, “Why do I keep doing this?” These patterns often begin early in life, as our nervous system learns to stay on guard. Deep down, you want to feel calm instead of reactive, confident rather than self-critical, and connected without losing yourself. As a parent, you may long to be more patient, steady, and present. You want to feel connected, valued, safe, and secure; not just with others, but within yourself.

Life can be really challenging. I believe that everyone has a unique story and I consider it a gift to be able to work with clients to pursue healing, wellness and fullness as they navigate through life’s challenges. For the past 12 years I have been helping people work through trauma and both the past and present impact this can have on us. I have personally dealt with anxiety for over 20 years so I understand the challenges that can come with overall mental health. Through the years I have accumulated many tools and techniques to help overcome the stressors of everyday life.

I have been helping people work through trauma and tough life situations for over 30 years. Sometimes, it is just about finding the right connection to the right person to move your life forward. I believe every client has a unique story that is their own and so I will work to determine what therapy plan would work best for you. There are no generic treatment plans. You are the expert on you. Together, we will work to find your pathway to healing and how to turn life back on again if it feels like it's been turned off.

Most of the work I do involve Cognitive and Behavioral Change through Coaching, Counselling, Hypnotherapy, Mindfulness Based Somatic Therapy, Therapeutic Yoga movements and Emotional Freedom Technique.
Nowadays, we are living in a world that is so advanced yet in many ways leave us feeling stressed and inadequate. if you are struggling with Anxiety, Depression, Difficult relationships, Career Dissatisfaction, Self Limiting Habits and Self Sabotage, you are not alone. Often times these issues show up in our experiences as Fear, Anger, Resentment, Sadness, Weight Gain, Addictive Habits, Fatigue, Sleepiness or Sleeplessness, Headaches, Phobias and many more. Where are you right now? Are you tired of seeking? Change can be paralyzing but the only way to get to the direction you want is to take that first step in spite of the fear.

It was through her own personal journey that Trish came to find her expertise as a Somatic Psychotherapist; helping individuals, couples and families step into balance, health and connection so that they can live in joy, vibrancy and passion!
Our bodies can be locked in an old protective pattern as a result of any time we were overwealmed in our lives. It need not have been a big event but can be any past conflict that has our unconscious minds still reacting to it rather than moving on in health and well being. Living in stress mode, there is no energy for joy, creativity or deep connection

Somatic Counsellors
How does somatic therapy work?
Somatic therapy is a form of treatment that focuses on how the body and mind are interconnected. In this approach, physical symptoms are addressed because they may in fact signal emotional distress. Somatic therapists combine mindfulness, talk therapy, breathwork, yoga, dance, and physical manipulations of the body to help patients become more attuned to what their body is telling them.

Is EMDR a somatic therapy?
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a form of somatic therapy, as it incorporates mental and physical principles. EMDR involves remembering a traumatic experience while allowing one’s eyes to track a side-to-side visual stimulus from a therapist. This lateral eye movement is believed to diminish the painful power of the memory so that it can be discussed with a therapist.

Is somatic therapy evidence-based?
Somatic therapy has been researched and studied, and some forms of somatic therapy are found to be effective in treating a wide range of conditions. Because somatic therapy encompasses many techniques, some, such as EMDR and meditation, have been studied more than others.

What is somatic trauma therapy?
Somatic trauma therapy is based on the idea that when people experience trauma, they can become stuck in the “freeze” part of a “fight, flight, or freeze” response. In this state, trauma can manifest itself both mentally and physically—through tension in the muscles, anxiety, and stress. Popular forms of somatic trauma therapy include EMDR, sensorimotor therapy, and somatic experiencing.
